This topic seems to come up almost every year.  Just curious, is this a isolated Le Mans problem?
To be honest we just don't have this sort of stuff go at North American circuits, in forty-three years of going to races (Sportscar's, Indycar, NASCAR, you name it) I've never been nicked, or heard of anyone having anything lifted.  And we've left all sorts of stuff laying around, grills, stereo's, coolers, generator's, etc.

Don't want to spoil your image of the good old US of A but my camera was nicked at the Indy 500 last year. Nowhere is free of scrotes in my experience.

Brad,
It was 2011 when Deb managed to lock both sets of her car keys in her car & had to get someone to break a side window to retrieve them.

Colin,
Yes, you did meet Lord Steve & me that year.

That's good. I never fully trust my memory!
Will you be there this year? We've now booked Whittlebury following their comments.

Dont know who I'm replying to but I was at the wec event last year and the gates through the woods were locked.

Hi Steve
I think we met a few years ago at the same meeting. It was the year Debs (termie) had the trouble with her keys. I'm the hopeless git who was up the slope with the cobra replica that had no traction on the grass.
Were the gates shut last year due to wet weather and some misguided health and safety concerns?
Through a friend it appears that I am now Whittlebury's most wanted, as my good lady asked them to confirm over the phone that there was a problem with access on foot. They confirmed this and said that a shuttle was in operation. Then today, the written response I have posted was sent to a friend who has booked already, apparently correcting the previous information.
In the light of what they sent today I thought it was only fair to ensure a correction was put up.
Apparently the path through the woods is a public footpath/bridleway which must be open.
I hope this helps and I look forward to seeing you there.
Colin.

I notice that on the Silverstone website only Whittlebury is shown as being available - no Woodlands or Litchlake. I don't mind Whittlebury but the walk to the circuit through the wood is no longer available and the transport alternative is a bit of a palaver.ote]

I've found out today that this is not correct. Please see message copied from email received.
, I am sorry that you have heard this untrue rumour, I would appreciate it if you could let me know

where you  have heard this from so that we can put a stop to it.

The walkway into the Circuit from the campsite is open as usual as this is also a public right of way and this takes you into Copse corner.

We will also be running a shuttle in the morning and again late afternoon that will take you to gate 9 which is Beckets corner.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Kind regards

Penny

Luckily I was there and was very pleased to see TK take the win. To be honest though the whole event was an anti-climax. It seems to me that the organisers have started to believe their own publicity and forgotten that people visit to see and hear racing. I was initially excited that my seat was near the action and to be in a crowd of the size they talk about would be amazing. My 9 year old was also excited that I would come home deaf, no danger of that with these engines!
It was fun, due to the people I was with and those I met. Blagging entry to the pits after the race added interest, but overall, it rates as just OK.
It was my first Indy 500 and will be my last, even if it is free again!

Many congratulations TK and roll on Le Mans.

P.S. Where else in the world does a bald 47 year old bloke have to produce ID to buy a beer?

Plenty of the blue 6ft roll material with the 24 logo emblazoned on it now graces the walls of 2 garages in North Lincs and Hertfordshire.

I was nearly thrown off the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club enclosure at Houx Annexe when they saw me with 10 meters of this rolled up under my arm. It is also now proudly displayed in my garage in Lincs as a backdrop to the Scalextric!
8  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: 2012 T Shirt on: May 07, 2012, 08:10:32 pm
I have just received a t-shirt from Push Merchandising specially for my trip to Spa this weekend and when I opened the package I found that the quality is somewhat below par.

Ok the t-shirt is yellow and the ink used for the lettering black, but you can see the yellow fibres through the printing.

So buyers beware all is not what it seems especially as the shrt was £18 or so........Paddy,Del and Rusty do a much better job than this lot!!!!

rant over

Andy

I found the same, bought 2 shirts, look like they'll not get through the first wash. Trouble is, they have a strange smell about them too, so probably should ask SWMBO to put them through the machine.
Last purchase I'll make from Shotdeadinthehead, shame, 'cos there's some funny stuff on there.

One thought I have had regarding camping:

Why don't the ACO allocate each campsite complete to a ticket agency, based on who takes the most space at present i.e. Karting Nord to Kaiser, Bleu Nord to TL (obviously!) etc. Each company would have to meet criteria such as online ordering, international purchasing and shipping etc.

This would enable the ACO to look after their corporate bits and the GA's

Brilliant idea, seems to be a common sense approach that would fit with the majority and ensure high quality. For those very reasons, I can't see the ACO ever going for it Cry
