Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Great Le Mans Week

Of our 9 visits this one certainly the best for us...We had a great time. Pro's Meeting Andy and Barry on the Ferry over and having a few sherberts together Tribune Tickets for the first time courtesy of Dean (clk) having spares- A real boon, Tribunes all the way from now on - Nice to meet Dean & Co, real nice guys. A none Audi winner - No disrespect Audi, fantastic over the years but was getting a bit samey. Porsche winning with the No 3 crew (Hulks gonna think this Le Mans business is a piece of p*ss!!) All three of the boys did a stirling job. Corvette winning Pro - Sorry Aston, I am a big fan, but the last man standing got the job done and they still just sound the dogs do da's. Drivers Parade - Once the rain had cleared at about 6 o clock we had a hoot. Con's Weather - OK for us as we were in a caravan, but some of the poor blighters across from us got a real flooding out - Not good Noisy Neighbours - Its ok to have a good time but not at the expense of all those around you especially when someone goes over to diplomatically ask them to reign it in a little and they are basically told to f**k off! Tram- Breaking down 3 times on the way back from the Drivers Parade, emergency brakes applied each of the times and sending everyone flying, funny the 1st time, not so later on, apparently one of the doors wasn't shut properly, driver walked down the tram, had a twiddle with something and off we went....
All in all a great year, 2015 will certainly stick in the memory bank, roll on 2016!!
Cheers Paul

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Getting Away After The Race
|

We had planned to stay at Houx Sunday Night with a early kick off for the 08.30 Caen Ferry Monday morning, however, there were a group of Danes on about row 14-15 that had been riotous all week were just getting into their stride again after the race (I'm no party pooper but the worst was what sounded like a Ships Fog Horn being blasted sporadically that scared the be-jesus out of you is no fun particularly at 6 in morning!!) As others had tried to compromise with them to no effect we decided we couldn't be arsed with the hassle and had a slow pack up, we left the site at around 7 o clock with no traffic problems whatsoever, we had a steady drive to Ouistreham and arrived easily before the overnight ferry had set sail (Noted for next year) so we duly found a nice car park near the port and slept in the caravan for the night ready for the morning ferry.
IMHO Unless you MUST/GOT TO/NO CHOICE WHATSOEVER I would wait until all the traffic flitters away.

.........I know exactly what you mean. For the last few years we have been taking a caravan down ..... And I was worried it was just me. A warm shower or a cold beer whenever you want one too, rather than a warm beer and a cold shower You are certainly not alone Lorry (I am assuming you are the same Lorry from another LM Forum) we took the Caravan for the 1st time last year and we found it by far the most comfortable...Even my son and friends in their 20's thought it was excellent...I mean...Fan for when its scorching...Heater for the cold....Fridge for the Beer and Food...On Board Cooker...Toilet and Washing Facilities....Comfortable Beds...A degree of insulation from Crappy Loud Music....What's not to like?? Well worth the extra expense of getting it there and back.

I sympathise whole heartdly with anyone under the threat of or being made redundant at the moment, I truly wish you all the best of luck. I too was made redundant (see earlier posts) but luckily managed to get another position quickly and have held onto it through the rough times. It is also heartning to see the people getting sorted, in my case we had a shakey 2008 and returned a small loss for the year, one bonus was our Corporation Tax bill was the princely sum of £4.95!! 2009 has been sucessfull and we are currently trading at 30% profit which in the our business (Contract Scaffolding) in the current climate is a miracle. We have just knuckled down, concentrated on our core business, taken no risks with new customers insisting on part or all money up front, (even after credit checks) if they are not willing to enter into this agreement we just dont work for them. Our order books for first quarter of 2010 are quite healthy so hopefully it continues!!
