Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Biggest British/European sporting event???

Can anyone think of anything bigger. I thought the gate was about 350,000, compared to Indy's 400,000, and Reading (soon to be enlarged) FCs 22,000. The Olympics might have 3 x 80,000 stadiums on the go, so we beat them, the Isle of Man is only big enough for about 20,000 and cricket grounds are tiny.
Weird, isn't it. 10,000 people turn up to see some football/cricket/golf/horseracing, and its prime time television. 60,000 Brits go to another country and its not even on Channel 5.
Bit of a random football club's gate size to choose Lorry Or are you a Royal?

Andy Zarse...
Apparently we have purchased a 17-seater LDV Convoy!
Hope you like the smell of Gaulloise, cos I reckon you're going to enjoy a ride in the tow truck. The LDV is, as I'm sure you all know, basically a Leyland Sherpa, designed in the early seventies. New bits and bobs like engines now of course, but it's a very old design made on what was then a decrepid production line. It was itself based on the 1960 Austin J4 type thingy and they share some body panels to this very day. It's a good job I smoke then! Apparently it passed it's 'dry run'...so we can only hope and pray that we make it there and back!

Andy...I don't think it's going to be 'classic' by any stretch of the imagination to be honest!
When I said old...what I really should have said was 'knackered and if it was a horse would probably be taken out into a filed and shot between the headlamps'

My group be on Beausejour from Thursday late morning/early afternoon until Monday in the AM. There's about 22 of us and we have bought an old school mini-bus...which I'm promised will be getting a suitably impressive 'retro' paint job. There's also a camper making the sojourn as well. Watch out for the big screen showing Bruce Lee...(amongst other things). See you there. Jim What make of minibus did you all buy? You say "old", well how old is "old"? To be honest...I haven't got a clue! I'll attempt to locate that information and get back to you.

In 3 weeks and 2 days I'll be setting off from leafy Henley...via Poole and Cherbourg...to sample the delights of Beausejour and Le Mans. Unfortunately in 4 weeks time I'll be back in rainy Blighty once again. What happens in the days between those two should go down in legend if I have anything to do with it.

That is brilliant I have been informed by a mate who frequents the IOM TT every year that kitchen roll is the ultimate wipe/mop/wrap/pad/protect material and should be carried at all times. Knowing how much I am a slave to my guts I will be very easy to spot because I will look like I am preparing for a Blue Peter 'Tracy Island'-building competition

Thank you all for your cheerful words. I'm a Le Mans virgin and was wondering what one piece of advice you would give me to aid my experience? Literally one piece each? Whaddayareckon? I'm coming down with 21 mates in a minibus and a camper overnight on the Wednesday...arriving at the circuit on Thursday. We are staying on Beausejour until Monday morning. So...top tips? Cheers in advance. Jimp
