2  Club Arnage / 2014 / Wanted: Camping Space - ABB (Anything But Beausjour) on: April 22, 2014, 07:07:25 pm
Hi,
I've found myself flying solo and without any tickets for this years Le Mans so looking to pick up a camping spot somewhere moderatly civilised and in the same timezone as the village (i.e. not Beausjour!).

Reasonably hygenic and hardly ever listen to the voices telling me to kill if someone has space for a car and tent in a larger group.

Cheers,

Mjit

Question - How the hell do you get from MB to the tram way? What the best route on foot?

Answers on a post card pls

Jules

To get TO the tram head cross-campsites to either:
 - Houx/Houx Annex and catch the tram from the terminus at the Houx Annex roundabout.
 - Tetre Rouge, take a left under the ring road and catch it from the first stop, just after the roundabout.

To get back either do the same or, if you prefer to avoid the more drunken of the crowds jump off at the Tetre Rouge stop and take the road just before the tram stop that heads straight towards Expo and the main entrance, outside the circuit.

Tram stops are marked on Google maps - even though the tram hadn't been built when the pics were taken.
4  Club Arnage / General Discussion / CA2011 Guide - Navettes/Shuttle buses on: May 24, 2011, 02:16:50 pm
Hi,
Not sure where the correct place is to question the Wiki content so guessed at here.

The Wiki has the Navettes running through the night from 2pm Sat. to 5pm Sun. but when we set out from Beausejour at 3am Sunday morning to make the annual trip to Mulsanne and Arnage we were surprised no one else was queuing...until we read (and translated) the sign that only had the buses running till something like 11pm/starting again at 5am.

Did we miss-translate?
Did they just run from the main entrance through the night?

I can't remember the exact time we came up with - it was 3am, we were a little despondent and only interested in getting to the Porsche curves to watch as an alternative Smiley

6  Club Arnage / General Discussion / TV Coverage? on: May 03, 2007, 12:50:53 pm
Anyone heard anything on TV coverage of this years Le Mans?

By this point last year I'm sure the ACO were shouting about full coverage on Cannel+ and MotorsTV but not seen/heard anything this year?

One for "It happened to me" consideration from last year.

We had a group of 9 last year, one of whom took their rechargeable electric hair clippers down and gave their #1 a trim on the Friday morning.

Around 2AM, after a lot of beer before, during and after the Drivers Parade another member of the group decides to give his hair a trim too.

He didn't ask if there was enough juice left in the clippers for a hair cut - there wasn't.
Nor did it occur to him to check if the owner of the clippers had the charger with him - he didn't.

Said team member wasn't seen without a baseball cap for the rest of the trip and traumatised a random hairdresser somewhere near Calais on the way back.

Yup - she just keeps forcing cakes on you until you do as she says.

You should have been at Donington.  Chocolate chip cookies, chocolate brownies and chocolate chip and orange muffins.

BTW - glad you have found CA - although as yet I have not been persuaded away from Houx  Wink

paddling pools...?

Thought I should say hello in here as Debs _made_ me join.

Now to start a thread that complains about TVRs and Mitsubishi FTOs.... ^_^
11  Club Arnage / Help / Re: camping with a pool near the circuit on: August 25, 2006, 11:40:05 am
I think we're all hoping that the pool ban was for this year only and won't be continued for next year unless the weather conditions are the same.....

I've got a feeling it's here to stay (and was never about weather conditions anyway).

For the weather conditions - no-one who lives in France that I have heard of expressing an opinion on the matter had heard of any hose/paddling pool bans anywhere in France at the time and I spied a goodly number in gardens on the bus back from Arnage/Mulsanne Sunday monring.

The thing that makes me believe the change in more perminent is the taps.  I can't have been the only one to notice the old faithful screw-threadded-easy-hosepipe-attachment taps in Houx had been replaced with nice shiny new pre-for-30-seconds-of-water types.  OK, these can be defeated by a man, patience and 10 bottles of '33' Export but...

Humm, am I the only one who found LD Lines to be a bit... well... rank?

Used them for Le Mans this year and service was very French (3 staff behind the bar, 2 of us at the bar = 10 minutes to get served).

Couple of Scottish guys we got chatting to (driving to Le Mans from Scotland in an MG Midget they bought unseen 3 weeks before on eBay - brave) ordered hot-dogs from the bag.  Sasages looked rank, but were apparently better that the mouldy bread rolls... and we are not talking a few small specks of mould here either.

Did the route last year wehen it was P&O and was much better.
