'95, remember it well! Lovely sunny Friday, then the heavens opened. All good fun until we realized that there is a slight slope to Houx Annex and we had put our tent at the lowest part  Roll Eyes

Classic comment from a fellow camper "someones going to get washed away in a minute", oh how we laughed until we realized it was our tent!!!!!

All was saved as some helping hands fished the tent out from the ever increasing lake and put it on higher ground!

*edit to add, it was '98 not '95 that we got flooded out*

I was one of those in the water helping out, I was helping carry out a BMW touring bike that was nearly submurged in water. Then started on the tents. The guys whose bike it was found his leathers almost ruined in the tent, But could not thank us enough for getting his bike out.
I was pitched at the top of the hill!

I was with my brother in my Kermit green 205GTi. After the tent got moved to the other side of the drainage ditch I thought it best to move my car as the water was getting close to the sills!!!!

I have a good video of the 'river'. Shame its on VHS else I would post it up.

Thanks for the help by the way  Smiley Smiley

Hi all,
I am going to LM with a group of people, 2 of whom are the girlfriends of people in the group. The girls will probably watch the start but that is where their interest in the race stops. We stay at Spay campsite (arrive Wed morn leave Mon) each year and they treat it as a camping holiday, but would like some ideas of what to do whilst us boys watch the race.

They are quite happy to go off for a drive as they both have Elises (and TomTom) and quite like the idea of exploring some Chateau's or old towns. South / West of LM would be best as that is where Spay is situated so they don't have to fight through the town.

Any ideas would be welcomed  Smiley

It will be really interesting to see how many spectators turn out to see it, as I mentioned in an earlier post (and I was not kidding) I put the 'crowd' at around 100-200 last year.

I have heard that there was a grand total of.....................(drum roll)........................93 paying spectators.

I was in the pit grandstand at stupid o'clock and there was 4 other people in not just the pit granstand but all of the grandstands round Woodcote. Shocked

Still a great event though and shall look forward to it this year. Grin

I emailed Siverstone yesterday about the parking arrangements and had this reply:-

Hi

I have checked with our Event Manager and you will be able to drive in although not into the centre areas.

Many thanks and I hope you enjoy the event.

Sheila

Looks like we can get behind the grandstands and around the circuit, which is good news.
9  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Britcar 9-10th Sept Silverstone. on: August 16, 2006, 03:29:37 pm
You couldn't get your cars into the main entrance last year so it was a pain having to effectivly leave the circuit and go to the exterior car parks to get anything out of your car.
Silverstone very rarely let you get your car through the main gate into the circuit these days unless it is a little clubbie.
Getting them in but not over the bridge would be fine.

Entry list is looking good with an interesting mix of cars.

The rumour is though that they are not allowing spectators to take their cars into the circuit. As I say its a rumour at the moment and if any one can shed any light on the subject then please do.

Squeaky Cook.......................... umm, sounds painful to me.

Otherwie its plain ol' Dave, and as everyone knows at least a dozen Dave's then I might stick with the username.

RLM,

Keep up the good work guys. Your coverage is excellent and informative. Without it lots of people who wish to keep track of the race would get completley lost.

RLM do a fantastic job finding things to talk about from the Wednesday compared to James Allen who manages to talk twoddle and cock things up for 2 hrs on a Sun with a highly pro outfit like ITV! Smiley
14  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Radio Le Mans - who needs it on: June 25, 2006, 02:19:24 pm
I would like to add my congratulatuions to RLM for continued coverage of the race. They may have made mistakes from time to time but I think without their coverage alot of people would get extremely lost in during the race.
We had some first timers with us this year and they needed the coverage to work out what was going on and info that may seem trivial to LM experts was very useful to them (not everyone who goes have detailed knowledge of rules/regs etc).

I think earlier posts about telling them your constructive comments, rather than personnally slagging the people providing the service, would be a better way to go. That way they might take comments on board to change things for you next year, rather than getting the ar5e and doing nought
15  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: HOUX ROUNDABOUT FRIDAY on: June 24, 2006, 01:26:05 pm
It a shame that you are not safe when driving home either!

Whilst driving through Beaumont there was a big group of people, with blue T-shirts on, at a cafe/bar next to a r/bout that thought it amusing to pour a bucket of water through the sunroof of one of our convoy. Car is only 3 weeks old, £1000 worth of camera equipment (luckily happened to be covered by a fleece) and 2 very p155ed off occupants!
