Nordic brings up a good point. The world of Sports Cars racing was to be utopia with the elimination of ground effect tunnels. Who recalls the days before flat bottomed cars? I thought I did, but don't recall a race being red flagged for rain until the introduction of fair(?) flat bottom technology.

I'd simply like to see the potential for heavy rain factored into the design of each car. I'm sure the Engineers would produce solutions that might benefit all of us in our daily commute. I hate to see that obvious environmental factor ignored.
As for the over use of Safety Cars, I think that is an ugly trend that deserves a thread of its own.

Is anyone else bothered that they would call an endurance race early? What is the difference between all of the LMP hydro-planers blowing engines than surfing on an inch of water. In my book, the first car to run the distance wins. When did the rules change?
In my opinion, a proper sports car should be able to manage 1000 miles in a driving rain storm. I'm sure I've done better driving through mountain passes, enduring tropical storms, bald tires, and stoned passengers just to see the professionals race.

Word around the camp sites several years ago was that those entered in the 5K run on Saturday morning were allowed entrance into the track 2-3 hours before the advertised gate opening. If you're doing the day trip, it might be worth looking into.

I am normally a lurker, but as I understand it the shirts were rushed for the benefit of those at the 12 Hours of Sebring. I'll be at Sebring and I'll be more than happy to take at least one the Club Arnarge shirts off of your hands. 2XL or better please.
PS. I like this site for the racing news and humor. Please don't f#$% it up with business.

I'm selfish. I want the notion that you must finish Sebring to win Lemans reinforced as much as possible. I don't care where the care is built or how it sounds.
Quiet and quick works for me. Besides, the turbo era GTP cars weren't terribly loud. I wonder how they would compare on the meter.

No Panic
To question number one- No one really tries to find unique toys as gifts. With 10,000 on site, it's impossible to remember all of them and he doesn't mind duplicates. As for being able to play with them, the collection started shortly before his retirement and his children were grown and out of the house. It's the grandchildren that have to look and not touch (he does have a few duplicates and beater toys for the kids to play with)
Pieter,
I could easily become a collector of car related publications. I found several late 60's Car and Driver magazines at a flea market recently and have had a wonderful time reading about automotive technology of the day and reports from Indy, Sebring, Daytona, and Lemans. One artice mentions Police, fans, cattle prods (electric shock sticks) and Green Park all in the same article. Fun Stuff.
BobU,
There has been talk of a museum, but everyone agrees that would make the whole thing a job. He doesn't mind showing off, so if you're ever on I-95 in central North Carolina look me up and I'll let him know you're interested in a personal tour.
