1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: The "CA Guide to the 24h of Le Mans 2009" project on: April 20, 2009, 03:44:32 pm
As more people read the guide year on year, could more be made about behaving at Le Mans in a section.

How about promoting respect to the other fans and their property. There seems to be more and more complaints each year about people throwing large quantities of water into vehicles along with beer and water pistols filled with urine! This mostly happenning if you not take part in spinning your wheels or revving your engine.

Perhaps also promoting looking out for your fellow campers around you, trying to prevent the thefts people seem to still suffer.

I'm sure most club arnage supporters are not in this minority, but if the guide is getting wider coverage then the wider message might be received.

There does seem the opinion that some of the drunken behaviour is getting out of hand in places. There is a line between having fun and yob/thuggish behaviour which seems to be getting crossed.

If the majority of decent people going look down on this behaviour instead of just allowing it to continue then it might just stop happenning.

Still only long range weather reports which is still a bit of a gamble.... but it is suggesting sunshine for race weekend at the moment. Fingers crossed.

Never nice seeing racecars take off like that.

Amazing how drivers walk away from the accidents these days.

Very nice pics.

The cars are looking good this year.
6  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Safety car usage at Le Mans on: June 25, 2007, 01:02:08 pm
This is the 24hrs of Le Mans.... I was totally bemused at the side of the track when the first safety car was deployed just because it was raining... It is supposed to be a test of endurance.

Like many have said, let the teams decide what tyres they want and if needs be get the car in a make atlerations to the set up.

And then again at the end of the race. Actions like this erode what the entire event is all about. They raced as normal in torrential rain at the Nurburgring 24hrs. It did get stopped though for a while due to heavy fog.

I think the race should just run its own course. Of course if there are other hazards on the track then deploy the safety car, but not just because of rain.
7  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Porsche 1-2-3-5 at Long Beach on: April 16, 2007, 07:09:45 pm
Quite surprised the Audi was so far down. Did it have troubles, and was it a tight twisty circuit that may have given the more nimble LMP2 an advantage?
8  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Peugeot Wins first race! on: April 16, 2007, 07:01:02 pm
We could be in for a good race in June. Peugeot wins first time out in Monza in the LMS race.

I really hope that they can be as fast as the Audi's and stay reliable.

9  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Channel Islands CA Meet on: January 12, 2007, 07:23:04 am
Hello,

I've sent a couple of PM, but for those coming over, I'm just apologising because it looks like my weekend is not going as planned. With work during the night, it rules me out of anything evenings onwards.

If there is anything planned for lunch on one of the days, I may be able to get along and say hello to you all.

But if I can't, I hope you all have a great couple of days over here.

Regards,
Dave.

That would be a fantastic car. Seeing such a stunning car converted for racing would be great to see.

21.603... so far.

It's not too bad until it starts going really crazy.
12  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: The Nurburgring on: November 15, 2006, 11:56:41 am
Going back to the first post... If you haven't been to the 'ring then it is certainly well worth the trip.

I've been a few times and the feeling of driving around it is amazing. The place can be quite terrifying though.... but that is probably what draws so many people in!

It really is as simple as finding out when the public days are, drive there, buy a ticket and you are on circuit.

The place has its obvious dangers, but a trip can be done without any problems, if you keep things sensible.

I'm hopeing to get back there next year..

One of the best sites I've found, which tells you everything you need to know is;

Just been to the paris motorshow. The new Peugeot looks really really good. The pictures don't give a very good idea of the size of the car, it really takes up a large area.

It seems to be wider and longer than the Audi R10, but maybe that it is not right as I'm sure they are set by rule restrictions so therefore very similar.

It's not also very clear how the drivers will get in and out.. i.e no doors. Seen somewhere the whole canopy may lift like a fighter jet!

14  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: CA Channel Islands, Meet Poll. on: September 15, 2006, 11:23:48 am
I would be interested in meeting up at some point over a weekend, work permitting. No real preference to dates being arranged.

For those who haven't seen the Island before. The inclusion of an Island drive would be good, with a decent route to take in some of the better sections of road and views. Broken up by a stop at somewhere like the 'Hungry man'. Essentially, what makes up a decent sunday morning drive on the Island.
