We saw that, I saw the bags and thought it must have been a bike, untill I saw the bumper. My wife noticed some damage on the back of a van in the coned-off area. I hope everyone involved is ok- it could have been any one of us!

We were passed by a Nobel M12 , we were doing a steady 130k and he came past like we were standing still- sounded awsome!! I guess he was caught by the trap just before the last toll booths on the road to Calais.... 'Poetic Justice" award goes to the guys who tried passing a slow line of traffic only to have to pull in sharpish nearly rear-ending my mate! Saw some of them later being talked to... (Note- if you drive a bit more carefully maybe your girlfriend won't throw up!!) I think we saw more 'brain dead'driving on the way home this year than we have in a while! Is it worth it just to catch a boat? All in all, a fantastic weekend- roll on next year!!!

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:Why the high Police presence

There were several instances in late '80's of British Jaguar 'fans' throwing rocks at Benzo's and Porsches as they entered the carparks - perhaps the French police are tooling-up against the threat, as Bentley have a huge brit following and a chance of winning this time around. My feeling is that anyone who thinks that might be a bit of a laugh deserve everthing the CRS might care to dish out.
Well said Matt, the Ferrari incident marred Friday for the rest of time, but there were many smaller incidents such as the Mini driver who suffered a mirroe being wrenched off his car by an over-enthusiastic Brit- they were trying to lift the fron of the Mini so he could smoke the tyres. He was not amused, neither was I when I was given grief for not wheelspinnig my Granada!! Have a good time but keep it clean! (We're going to have lunch in the middle of the road after it's closed to traffic at Indianapolis...)

We took our daughter to the Classic, she was 11 months old and not yet running around. She really enjoyed it, even the 1:00am trip to Arnage, she only complained when there wern't any cars to watch! She's a bit of a handful at the moment so she's staying with a friend, but she'll probably come with us sometime in the future.

Sadly yes. Even at the Classic back in September, although I managed to get through a gap in the fence .... The Shanghai is one of my personal fave eating places in the whole of France, they are a fantastic bunch of people and put up with a lot from Us Brits!! Even though you can't see anything, the atmosphere there is wonderful. We'll probably be there on Friday when everyone else is busy ruining their tyres and reputation It's much easier to get a table then!!

My wife is coming with us (our first visit in 1998 was her idea ) and I've told her that she's only allowed to buy 20 bottles of wine this time.... We came back from the Classic in September with 40 bottles (all long since emptied...)

We're not sure where we're going to end up yet We'll be stopping first at the ticket office to see what's there (three of us slept in our Granada on the Thursday in 1999, behind the Chinese!) The rest of the band are on holiday, but I know at least one of them wants to join us at LM sometime;)

We've got a pair of 2-way radio's which we use to communicate between cars etc. They use a frequency set aside for "PMR446" (Personal Mobile Radio) I think it's 446MHz and is licence exempt in the UK. Anyone know if I can use them in France without a licence?

Enter Bluebottle, Waits for audience applause (...not a sausage.) Me and Mrs Bluebottle will be camping , er, somewhere near the circuit- we hope Look out for a very purple Quantum H4, and say hello (or say 'Hargafardefarga, barf!.....' depending on amount of beer etc consumed...) Eheueueu!! P.S. Thanks for a great site, the info on the site has proved invaluable on our visits to Le Mans.

I've been making compilations on minidiscs so on the way to LM I will mostly be listening to classic rock, such delights as Deep Purple's Highway Star ("8 cylenders, all mine..." I wish....) Oh, and a bit of folk-rock for those, er, folk-rock moments....

Smokie, that would be one to film, did anyone see the lad on the goped, giving it loads the year before last, he even brought his own oil and water mix in a washing up bottle. Happy days.
I remember him! Saw him at Arnage I think, talk about putting things into perspective
