I remember Rick Wilson's site "Maison Blanche" back in the day.
I can't find it anymore but Rick is here http://www.maisonblanche.co.uk/rickwilsondesign/discs.html

Getting up, making a cup of tea, turning the telly on.
That's it.

I remember back some years we used to have a Sunday night Club Arnage meeting on chat or something. Before we'd all met in real life, I think.

Hi Smokie,
I remember those Sunday gatherings. Some form of message board with 5 or 6 of us posting. Soon had about 3 conversations going at once with a time lag for replies to questions.
Fun times. Thanks for the memory.

Phil

Wasn't this on the Brethren message board or something similar?
It was hilarious posting a comment then watching more comments come in before deciding who was responding to each comment!

It was made more difficult by the fact that most contributors were probably half-cut....
5  Club Arnage / General Discussion / A good read on: March 26, 2020, 01:42:28 pm
Fellow Club Arnagers
If you are looking for something to fill in the miserable hours while the pubs are shut try this book:

"Legendary - The Porsche 919 Hybrid Project"
Author: Heike Hientzsch
Publisher: Delius Klasing

I bought it online at www.foyles.co.uk for £20. Item number 9783667116406

It has been translated from German but is very readable and gives an absolutely fascinating insight into the development of the car, the teams and the drivers.

Highly recommended.

Steve

Gents - I'm in for any celebratory merchandise but particularly like the ideas of embroidered polo shirts (I still have my original), lanyards and a bumper sticker.

It's interesting to read through this thread from the start and see how the posts have changed from bullish optimism to subdued resignation that Le Mans in June is out of the question. I couldn't have made it in June this year but, if the worldwide situation has eased during the summer, September might be possible.
Hopefully I'll see a few of you at Silverstone in August as well if that isn't rescheduled.

Fingers crossed - stay well everyone!

If anyone is attending an event at Silverstone - the WEC is coming up - and you don't fancy roughing it on the campsites I found a lovely little place to stay.
The Bartholomew Arms, High Street, Blakesley NN12 8RE, tel 01327 860292

This is a proper village local pub with some nice rooms and it's only a 10 minute drive to the circuit.
Call and speak to Emily and tell her Steve sent you! (and before you ask - no, I'm not on commission!)

Simple. Get your mate to go through the gate with an empty rucksack and walk along the fence to the point where you are standing with the beer / wine to lob over the fence and into his rucksack.
Then you go through the gate empty handed and smug.
Easy.

Pity I'm not there.....

Friday night in the Pistonhead pub then?

Could be a gathering.

Will be staying on Woodlands Saturday night.

Me too, see you in the pub!

I'll be at Silverstone on the Friday and Saturday nights if anyone's going.
14  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Back to work on: June 19, 2018, 12:29:35 pm
Hi everyone
Back to reality as the alarm went off this morning and the hideous realisation that I had to get up and go back to work.
Sorry I missed most of you but spent a happy couple of hours with Ade and Barry watching Dr Feelgood and a good old drink with Rick and the lads in the Carlsberg bar.

Thank you to the brilliant folks at Ginetta for the 2 hours I spent in their garage on Friday and for the tour of the car and all their facilities. Absolutely awesome.

To the person(s) who stole my camping chairs on Saturday night I hope that they collapsed under you and a long length of aluminium tube was violently inserted where the sun don't shine you twat(s). I had to drink standing up!

I'm done now - this year was my last Le Mans after 23 years. I'm getting fed up with camping (my tent is still on Houx) and to be honest, the event has become far too corporate and removed from the first time I experienced the atmosphere.

It's been a real pleasure meeting all you Club Arnagers over the years and I hope that I bump into you again at the WEC at Silverstone in August and in future years.

Thanks for the beers and the camaraderie everyone.

See you

Steve
