Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: who had the coolest car.....

I fear I may be contesting the uncoolest title.
First car was a bright red Renault 18 GTS. Although when I got it, it was so old that the bright red had faded quite considerably. About the only good thing about it was the comfy seats. Couldn't tell if the suspension was knackered or not as, although it steered like a barge and rolled into the corners like the springs where made of jelly, so did the Renault my dad had at the same time, which was only a year old.
In then end, I nudged a bollard while reversing and most of the offside rear wing fell off (filler held in place by a wire coat hanger bent to mimic the wheel arch). I couldn't afford to have it repaired and my dad sold it for £50 to a scrap merchant after is sat for so long in his driveway that it left indentations in his tarmac.

Originally out party consisted of; Supra 406 Coupé Audi RS4 Alfa 147 (ours) Unfortunately the RS4 was trashed by a hit and run driver so that's now a BMW 1 series and the Alfa has had to be replaced by a Renault Megane Scenic for the week as we need the carrying capacity to take replacement items over after a recent burglary

Club Arnage / 2007 and earlier / Cheap Accommodation Available nr Le Mans

Not sure if this is the right place to post, feel free to move if necessary...
Anyway, I have a house just outside Bouloire, 20mins from Le Mans and I wondered if anyone might be interested in using it?
Bit of a long story, but our house was burgled a few weeks ago, everything was taken, furniture, bed-linen, crockery, the lot. Also taken was my pride and joy, my Hayter 13/30 ride-on lawnmower. This has left me with a bit of a problem, 3/4 of an acre of lawn and no way to prevent it from turning into a jungle. We've engaged a propery maintenance firm to do some gardening, but it ain't cheap (or as much fun as my own tractor).
So, if anyone is interested, once we have furniture in again, would anyone be interested in renting at extremely favourable prices?
Not looking to make a profit, just something to cover gas/electric/water for the duration of the stay and something towards the gardening. I would also benefit by having the property occupied more often and hence less prone to burglary.
It's likely to be a couple of months before it's furnished again, so, unlikely to be available for Classic, but it's still a nice place to get away from it all during the Summer.
So, if you're interested, please drop me a PM.

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Tickets Have Arrived
|

Tickets arrived on Wednesday, the wife and our six guests are now starting to get excited!
Pretty sure that last year UPS just shoved them through the door when no-one was in, but this year they insisted on a signature. Fortunately signing the little card and taping it to the front door with instructions to place in letterbox were sufficient for a succeful re-delivery. Much better than Parcel Farce.
BTW First name P second L, so it could still be aphabetical order, or completely random, especially as I only ordered them a few weeks ago, rather than months like everyone else.

Club Arnage / Help / ACO Membership

Not the usual "Is it worth me joining ACO" question, but what membership should I be getting?
Click the Union Flag on lemans.org to get the English tranlated pages and you're only offered Club24, it doesn't seem to offer that much.
So bearing in mind that I'm over in France every six weeks or so, and would find the even limited rescue services of use, which level of membership would people recommend?
I'm sure I could just plough through the French side of the site, but I'm kind od hoping several of you have already done that.
All advice (on this subject at least) very welcome.

Now, if only Lardyboy has a large barn that we can hire between us for storage throughout the year!!!!! It's not too large a barn, only about 4x5m, and this year it's likely to be filled with furniture from our house as we're having rennovations done. Still if anyone fancies dropping over during race week you're welcome to check out if it'd be large enough to use in 2007.

Welcome Lardyboy (although that is very close to Ladyboy ). Thanks for pointing out that As for this being off-season, thought I'd still register. Got a house in Bouloire, just north of St. Calais that we'll be visiting quite regularly, so in return for everyone else's advice, I may be able to offer local updates over the year.

Hi All,
The name's lardyboy or lardy, currently planning my second visit to Le Mans for the '06 race. Hoping to get plenty of advice as this year, as well as the missus, I'm bringing six Le Mans virgins.
Roll on June
Anyway, hi to all in Club Arnage.
