1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: CA Le Mans Guide 2007: Your input is needed - New editorial team on: July 05, 2006, 07:24:32 pm
MarkCSC on Pistonheads gives the following tip:
"We had the same problem in Boulogne this year. Arrived late and couldn't get petrol anywhere. We crawled down the A16 at 40mph hoping to find a petrol station. In panic we pulled off and spoke to a guy in a Payage booth. He told us if we take the Le Touquet turning off the A16 you can buy petrol for cash by giving money to the Payage attendant.
So we did this and joy of joy they had 98 RON . Top tip if you ever get stuck in Boulogne with bugger all fuel."

Obviously not substantiated, but useful to have in the guide in case of emergency!

Great guide!

on the travel directions would be great to flag where there are petrol stations

What a bunch of nutters, but damn impressive anyway.

What are Mentos ?

Haven't seen the clip yet, but Mentos (if its the ones I am thinking of) are sweets!  Crispy on the outside, nice and chewy in the middle.   Normally come in either mint or fruit flavour, and just becoming available over here.

Used to eat them by the bucket load when I was young (hence my name!) and living in Germany!!  Always found the spearmint ones to be nicest, although they are now the hardest to get hold of!!

is it just me or does no-one else want to be at work either?  Thought I would make it through this week with no problems, what with having everything planned, but its already hell.

No energy for any work related stuff - just stress!  Leave me alone, work, I just want to enjoy myself!!!!!!   Angry

we got in the wrong queue at the first toll booth, and after a quick fumble with the wallets, paid by barclays debit card without a problem.  Can't see the credit cards being rejected....

One of our tents got smoked out by a group that turned up on Thursday but got an apology in the morning & it turned out one of them was Tony Brooks who ran a couple of XJ220's in '95 so we all got a nice cooked breakfast & some new friends!! Smiley

If any of them read this, my apologies for being a bit drunk on Friday night, but please don't smoke out the tents, set the car alarm off beside my hungover head, and then stand there talking about what went wrong!!!!!!!!  Other than that, good lads!!!

Got stopped on the south side of Gace (I think) on the way down....  Mortorcycle wanted to get passed, pulled over to the right, to see him pull in infront of our car infront.  Pulled me in, went to passenger side, said bonjour, looked in car, decided he was on the wrong side, walked round to me, checked my license, and waved me on. All because my co-pilot was on the walkie talkie, mobile, and looking at maps at the same time....

..........daft twat................!!!!!!!

12  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:Radio Le Mans on: June 09, 2005, 08:46:21 pm
indeed it will, straight through no problems and free.
All UK fones on UK networks will receive these texts for free.

Unfortunately i will have to be out there at Le Mans during the race to make sure they work, tough job but somebodies gotta do it!! Cool

Sorry, but to receive a text message abroad, on a UK mobile, DOES cost money.  You have to pay the carriage of the message from the UK to your phone, just like receiving a call when abroad.  So the service is free, but you will get a bill from your network provider for receiving the messages (Its about the same price to receive when abroad as it is to send one in the UK, so about 10p).

Of course, I could be wrong, but thats what its always been for the last few years I have been abroad...

13  Club Arnage / Just To Say Hi / greetings on: June 08, 2005, 11:54:37 pm
hi!  just joined the board, after reading it for last few days....  One of ChrisBeatty's crew, driving a crappy vectra diesel, blue, 52 reg.  If I overtake you....WHY?!  Only things I normally get to overtake without scaring the life out of the passengers is campervans, caravans, lorries and tractors.

btw, if you were in the three porsches last year, sorry, but a diesel wins on the hill climb??  Shame about the campervans sideways behind us when the road works suddenly appeared...  Grin
