1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: HOUX ROUNDABOUT FRIDAY on: June 26, 2006, 08:55:38 am
You're absoloutly right.  In fact, having seen this happen over a number of years, and have some idiot try to pour beer into my car at the roundabout this year. I would quite happily see the whole Friday event shut down by the gendarme.  It's no longer any fun, just dangerous and I don't like the feeling that it's not safe to take your car out of the campsite on a public road, just because it's Friday.  Complain to the police and hopefully the whole thing will be clamped down on.

You're wrong about the McQueen basins, they are still there, half way down by the large toilet block.  I've stayed in Houx a number of times always good.  It's got a great atmosphere, just like all the other campsites.  Electric is a bonus.

This year..I will not get mesmorised at Tetre Rouge or too full of french beer and miss the Poo bar meeting...8th tour to La Sarthe and I would love to meet up with the CA gang.  At the risk of sounding like an LM newbie...can someone explain to me (assuming the village as we know it) exactly where/when I need to be and the password to be ushered in!!!  Can't wait to meet you all...like a long lost familly coming together!

Look out for the GULF oil Midget!  Feel the power, smell the part-burnt hydrocarbon fumes!
4  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Classic British Welcome on: May 11, 2006, 02:41:32 pm
Hi Guys

Does anyone know if this event in St Saternin is going on this year?  Their website doesn't contain any dates that I can see.  What's the best day to go?

Our classic convoy is being fettled into action as we speak, we're going on the Tuesday night this year so should have plenty of time to make this event.

Thanks

Robin

Just a note to say THANKS!  That's just the most incredible video, what La Sarthe is really about.  No big sandy run offs, no driver aids (anyone hear the Traction Control on the No 1 Aston last year...either that or it's rear SU carb needed turning back a flat or two!)....just huge amounts of power and  a very fast road.b  Awesome.

Can't wait to see/hear the Audi's in action at La Sarthe.  You can't help but wonder if the lack of noise will take something away from the experience.  There's nothing quite like the shriek of a NA big V8 hurtling down the Mulsanne in the middle of the night!
7  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Where is the poo bar?? on: April 19, 2005, 12:39:23 pm
Heard it referred to a few times...where is it and which is the best night?? Cool

Nobby, you're a boy genius! Wink

Problem with leaving the car behind is that I am referring to running the gauntlet out on the way home.  We usually try to avoid the autoroute as the rural drive back to Caen on the back roads is one of the highlights of the trip, it's just a shame that for the last few years the yobs have ruined it.  Mad Friday is actually not too bad, on the way out on the Sunday evening though, they stood in the middle of the road to stop the car, while his mate put the gun into our faces over the side of the car.

Can we have an agreement that if any of us are around if and when this type of behaviour happens, we ask the people to stop.  You are right, I have not even put the new leather seats into my MG yet, the thought of several hundred pounds worth getting drenched for no reason isn't funny.  Assuming that there will be plenty of Club Arnage people around, we ought to be able to help each other out.
10  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Water Pistols on: April 18, 2005, 04:01:43 pm
Just a quick note to beg the water pistol wielding drunkards to aim low and miss me on the way out of Arnage this year.  I nearly ran one over and couldn't see out of the windscreen which was very dangerous.  I know it's a bit of fun, but when it's pointed about 3 inches from your face and emptied into the car, the joke wears a bit thin.
11  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Diesel prototype on: April 18, 2005, 03:56:31 pm
Was it me or was the diesel (caterpillar engine I think) LMP900 last year about as aurally exciting as a Nissan Micra???  Is there likely to be another diesel prototype, I bet it would have been an incredible car to drive, MASSIVE torque (that's why it retired I think) as it kept killing clutch plates.
12  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Am I the only one? on: April 12, 2005, 04:46:22 pm
 Grin
Just over 8 weeks to go!!  I know its close to the big race, sitting in meetings I am already at La Sarthe...BBQs and beer, surrounded by racing cars.  Sitting in dull meetings counting down the days work takes a back seat from now.  The world of Pharmaceuticals can wait!  More importantly, the MG is still in pieces all over the garage floor..will it be ready in time for the ferry!  Have we bought the artillery (fireworks)..who gets the fridge...ferry tickets, camping passes from ACO.....
13  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:diesel genny on: April 07, 2005, 06:48:03 pm
I hope I havn't offended anyone!  I was just trying to inject a little humour into the post.  Of course, I wouldn't dream of touching anyones genys so you won't have to worry about the security of your filler caps from our group!  Hopefully, we will be in Houx..with a geny of our own drinking cold beer (cooler than the fag lighter in the caterham powered 'beer cooler' could manage.).

Sorry for any unintended offence...I WAS JOKING!

The problem with generators on a LM campsite is that they don't run on urine very well.  Picture the scene, mad Friday, very late, fed up with the rattle from the Dutch campers genny in the middle of the night, you need a leak, the motocross track is so far away and the fuel filler cap is so easy to remove.  Result, you are relieved, the noise stops...next thing you know it's race day!
