93  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Twickenham for Concerts - Any advice on: November 29, 2007, 03:07:18 pm
I went to see the Police (her in doors idea honest) in September. Our tickets were quite a long way back in the corner and to be honest we could see virtually nothing ( I know most will think I was lucky) But being an old bloke and having paid lots of money I decided to have a friendly word with one of the officials. Without hesitation he introduced me to another official who was holding a pile of 'on the night exchanges.' This resulted in us being moved to within a few metres of the stage and we noticed the tickets were £30.00 each more expensive face value at no cost to us. They are obviously used to people being disappointed with the not so good seats and have an efficient mechanism to deal with it as the block that we arrived at was empty when we got there and eventually filled up as more people caught on  to the idea of complaining. So advice number one, if you don't like the seat for any reason, complain, they will relocate you.

Having said all of that, the acoustics were appalling. Now, like them or loath them, technically the Police are pretty accomplished. They sounded worse than a pub band playing in an empty swimming pool. It might be that there set up was poor, but based on my single experience of watching that show at Twicker’s, I have vowed never to return.

Sorry to be so negative, but it was advice you were seeking.

By the way is anyone else going to see Led Zep in a couple of weeks?

Looking forward to seeing it. And as a frequent visitor and occasional contributor to this site I would like to say (hopefully on behalf of many others too) thanks to all those that have made the effort to see the project through. Please do not think that your efforts are not appreciated.

Thanks again. Monkey.

Thanks.  As Randy said, 3 NFL games and a great opportunity to get fat(ter).

I'd gladly trade it for the 47 bank holidays or however many it is that you guys get.  Grin

Have great time over there.

For the record by the way, its 8 bank holidays we get over here  Grin

8. It is illegal not to tell the tax man anything you do not want him to know, but legal not to tell him information you do not mind him knowing (3%)

I have to say that I think this law could be very useful. Next time I fill in my tax return perhaps I should simply write 'I wish you to know everything there is to know about issues appertaining to my tax status.' And leave at that - given that I would not be obliged by law to tell 'him' what those details are.  Grin

Oh no, it's a good theory but I afraid he'd see atraight through a cheap trick like that. Trust me....

I suspect you are right Mr Zarse. I would not be able to make it stick mostly because I would not have the balls to try it. But the law is the law. I do not remember who coined the phrase 'the law is an arse' but I understand that is/was uttered as a result of frustration resulting from the fact that it seemed to so often work against 'us common folk.' It is fun to think that from time to time it could be turned to work in our favour. If as our CA friend suggests that the above noted is indeed on the statute book, then as a point of law it could be argued there is f+ck all that our noble friends at the C&IR could do about it. Sadly it would take a bigger man than I to find out. Any volunteers?

The photographer owns the copyright. That is how it works. In your position, I would have sent the bloke an invoice for £10,000 for each shot and then pursued payment rigorously, just for my own entertainment. He would have pulled it off eBay pdq if you had I suspect  Grin

Bleeding mossies - I picked up five bites whilst sitting at my desk yesterday.   Despite the Piriton I look like bloody Spotty Dog!

Piriton etc won't stop the godforsaken skeeters biting - you need to either cover yourself in a bug-spray that contains Deet, distract them with CO2 - the little bastards are attracted to the carbon dioxide in your breath, so a CO2 emitter trap will divert them, or eat lots of Marmite. Apparently the vitamin B in yummy marmite really puts them off your blood.

I have to say that Marmite truly is utterly delish on buttered, toasted English muffins - and so has no place in this thread. Unfairly, even the tiny little jar is 7 frickin' bucks over here. I hate that more than anything......

The Piriton is to stop the swelling ( Grin) as I'm allergic to the blooding things.  Strangely, most of the time I don't find the need to mossie deterant in my air conditioned office in the centre of Bristol!  Grin   Eating more marmite on toast sounds like a good idea though!

Try Zirtek, it has a more effective active ingredient, and it won't make you feel sleepy

Anyone out there left handed? Just reading on the bbc web site that the gene that makes you left handed has beendiscovered http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6923577.stm. Lots of interesting conclusions are in there including the fact that left handed types may be more prone to schizophrenia amongst other things

The voice in my head told me categorically that this is not true.

It's a well known medical fact that most left handed people are gay.

So as someone that is left handed that puts me in the minority I guess.  Grin

And yes we are better at hand to hand combat  Grin

Yay, we should get a CA team together ....  Grin

Given it only cost Euro 520 to enter a team, it is difficult to resist Grin
