76  Club Arnage / Help / Re: Access to Houx when the N138 is closed. on: June 04, 2009, 10:13:01 pm
Yes

At the roundabout at tetre rouge turn left but do not join the main road but turn right straightaway down a small single track road alongside the tetre rouge bar (Stella bar) then turn right and go under the bridge. This is the road alongside Houx Annex and leads to Houx.

If correct lets go for a blue ball
78  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Need a new watch? on: May 17, 2009, 12:31:25 pm
The Heuer Monaco and Rolex Submariner watches worn by Steve McQueen in the famous Le Mans film are coming up for auction, at a cool $10-20,000 each they may just be out of my price range.

http://www.antiquorum.com/eng/press/2009/209106/juneny09auction.html

http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/2009/5/11/steve-mcqueens-personal-heuer-monaco-along-with-rolex-motorc.html

The Auction also includes the ex-Steve McQueen, Von Dutch1929 Scott 596cc Super Squirrel, if anyone is interested but they may need to raid their piggy bank and check behind the sofa as it is listed at $80-$120,000.

Does that mean the Jag has been 'retired'?

No, it means sadly the E Type is close to it's insured limited mileage, a LM trip may take it over. (Also with 3 people it will be very cramped.)

This year will almost certainly see the return of the 200SX though.

Still waiting for tickets to arrive.

BUT tent ready, co-driver primed and ready and best of all....200SX passed MOT today, despite 2 years of neglect so that is going this year.

Hope it all goes well.

We are on Houx as well, look out for 1 Nissan with 3 people squeezed onto a non numbered site.

If u need any further guidance please PM your mobile no and we can meet up.

 Agree with above.

With 4 or so weeks to go most people will have arrangements in place by now. Anyone still looking or last minute change of plans can grab a bargain from EBay, there are quite a few available.

BN is as good as any if you are on a tight budget, whilst you are at LM take a look around the other sites so you are prepared for 2010 in good time.

Just a suggestion.

Why take all that food with you when there is a great supermarket a few hundred yards from the track, as they say Carrefour will provide.

All that space in the car freed up, less (free) fuel burnt. Food in Carrefour is as good, if not better than Tesco and fresher.  Anything brought in ther UK will have to be tinned whereas local can be fresh and BBQ'd. Please, please don't say you were going to take raw meat with you from the UK....It will be rancid by Saturday AM. As you will find the Le Mans loo's are the the place you want to spend the LEAST amount of time in thinking about that 50p you wished you had not saved.

Anyway have a good time and come back after the race and tell us how you got on.

Simon

PS take your own loo rolls (helpful hint no1)
85  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Anyone know which bands are playing this year? on: April 27, 2009, 12:15:42 am

I put my mate, who is into music, onto the case a few weeks ago but so far no luck.

Mr M Jackson is short of cash and might be up for it.
Hopefuly Kings of Leon who have/did have a gap and could do it (as could many others.)

I am sure it will be public in a few weeks anyway.

86  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Continental Breakdown cover for older cars ?? on: April 24, 2009, 11:24:16 pm
I think the full comp from "Footman James" covers euro breakdown. May depend on mileage though

No.,,,it cannot be a 1946 Ford can it ?

What a shot...snookered by all the balls, played off 8 cushions and knocked the red in off the black pink and blue balls !!!!

That leaves a very easy (HINT) black ball to knock in on the next shot!

89  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Jim Clark documentary on: April 19, 2009, 07:06:42 pm
If that is refering to BBC iplayer then yes it is.

Just under 1 hour. Very good, lots of race footage.

It is titled - The Quiet One on BBC (edit to add)
90  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Calling Mr Zarse - 2009 poster ready and waiting input on: April 17, 2009, 09:38:28 pm
Pity it does not show which live band is playing this year.

Looks very dramatic though.
