Introducing ACE, The Association of Car Enthusiasts. Visit and Register your concern for the future of your hobby. I'm sure you are all aware of legislation threatening the hobby of modifying vehicles or rebuilding classics or just your interest in motoring. The FBHVC have been doing sterling work on behalf of classic vehicle enthusiasts. It was felt though, that an 'umbrella' group that didn't differentiate between various types of vehicle would be a good idea. ACE, a group of people from the Hot Rod and Custom/Kustom scene has been founded and is working on our behalf and the whole 'Enthusiast' scene in general. ACE now have a website which can be accessed by visiting the following URL here, http://www.the-ace.org.uk ACE currently has a voice on the DVLA consultation list and is looking at being represented on the VOSA list. The purpose of the ACE website is to provide a platform where all vehicle based legislative issues can be readily accessed and to provide a rallying point for all interested parties. In the past it has been an uphill struggle to get the information out to all the clubs, forums and magazines in a short and concise form when you really need to know the background to the issues to understand, fully, the implications. Hopefully the information provided here will provide the necessary history and go some way to explain possible implications of legislation as it arises. It is hoped that those who visit will register for update mails and from those interested parties a larger working committee can be formed.

[/quoteRemember it well.. ish I think the Zody was in the "search line" as we got pulled in in the silver 300C saloon that year in Poole? I remember the Arnage burnout as driver said "You want smoke" to me and Sean....... and smoke there was.... in massive ammounts... Yup, that was us... We had a South African in the car and the immigration people couldn't understand why he had a Visa that allowed 3 months stay and he had arrived in the UK and left on the same day, only to return a week later and leave for SA on the same day..

Not had an afternoon in Arnage for ages but did have a wild sunday nite up there in 04, my non drinking Ozzie mate fried the back tires of my 300c Saloon, filling the sports bar with smoke and some twat in a shogun fried his clutch by trying to do the same in 4wd Ahhh.. Sunday night 2004, removed the exhaust backwards of the headers.....(In the car park round the corner), and stood it up like a ladder against the wall. Rumbled round the roundabout with the sound of an unsilenced 289 small-block bouncing off the walls. Line loc on and, after explaining to a couple of guys that I didn't need them to sit on the front of the car to 'give me some grip', filled the cafe's with burnout smoke, ran up the road and round the roundabout, only to be stopped by a couple of guys outside the bar further up the road on the left hand side to be asked to repeat the performance because they couldn't see it clearly... May just bring the old Zody back this year, better than the diesel Skoda...

I believe me losing my carkeys somewhere on the other side of Maison Blanche, which where brought back by one of the security guys makes me a nominee..... In 2005 I lost my wallet with all of my bank cards in it. I didn't know where I lost it, only realised when I wanted to get some booze at Boulogne.. Cancelled all the cards, but the wallet had my driving licence and docs for the car in it. A week later at work I got call passed to my desk at work from the receptionist who said "There's a guy from Wormwood Scrubs prison on the phone for you". I thought it was a joke but took the call anyway, to find out that he had found the wallet on the Sunday night by the shower blocks on TR and called me based on the business card inside. Never did get the chance to meet up and thank him.

Being as I drive a '73 GT6, I'd say take the Midget, but, what the hell they are both BRITISH classics. Reason enough to sell both and buy something ITALIAN then Does an Alfa 159 Sportwagon count as my Italian car Doctor??? No......... I'll get my coat then...

I love it. I always wanted a red and white 57 Chevy Nomad gasser, but who wouldn't. Saves you taking a tent, you just sleep under the car. I do hope it's not noisy The first time I took her down a mate an I were sitting talking to two guys from Brum on the Saturday night of the race, Jon suddenly pipes up with, "Y'know Steve, looking at the exhaust pipes I reckon we could take them off in about 20 minutes". "I reckon we could do it in about 3 minutes mate, they are only held on with 3 bolts on the header collectors and two bolts at the back." says I. Three minutes and two 1/2" sockets later the pipes are on the floor and the Zody is on open headers and being run up. At which point a Welshman pops his head out of his tent and says turn that f***ing thing off it's 4am and I don't want to hear a V8 at this time of the night... Just as the factory Corvettes went past...
