In the interests of accuracy Robbo - they are not and to my knowledge have never been 'free' if you go there first. I have, for about the last ten years watched the start from Mulsanne and on arrival have parted with a few Euro's (8 this year) for a ticket which this year I think (age memory thing) was yellow? however In the old days when I had a Vert pass then there was no more to pay - as that included access to Mulsanne and Arnage as I think, it would seem would a Rouge.
I have to confess that part of the reason I raised this subject was very much in the interests of accuracy. There were a number of enthusiast sites - this one included suggesting that all parking should be paid for in advance and rather alarmingly saying that in fact the parking tickets had 'sold out.' This would have been a new (and cr+p) idea had it been the case but it was not - just a bit of 'website noise' as it would seem that there were no changes this year. Although there did seem to be a concerted effort by the organisers to encourage people take the bus instead of driving round to the various vantage points.

In the light or accuracy.

I HAVE NEVER PAID TO PARK AT ARNAGE OR MULSANNE and i thought its because i was displaying my camping pass.

Yes that might well be the case - or (as I mentioned previously) if you have another Parking pass perhaps green or blue. But if you turn up at Mulsanne or Arnage without any of those there is a fee to pay. Which means it is not 'FREE.' What do you think??

Have been away in Somerset over the weekend and was quite surprised and very disapointed to see the nature of some of the contributions. Having said that, thank you Christopher for your mature, balanced and intelligent contribution to this thread.

There was quite a bit of chat about having to buy parking in advance so I have to confess that team Monkey was a little concerned that we might have a problem. We had discussed it in detail. Obviously it would be completely impossible for the organisers to only sell tickets in advance only. What would be the point??? How would they cope with all the people turning up without parking tickets - what would everyone do - dump their cars and walk to the circuit? But having said that early Saturday morning we received a phone call from Team Carr suggesting that all the parking was sold out!! So the tension mounted a little as we approached the car park at Mulsanne. We turned right - and there was the caravan and two lovely ladies selling a ticket there and then - just as they always have done year in year out. The only difference being it was a little cheaper this year I think at 8 Euros??

does put in mind of a jolly nice marketing director at a paint company who I once had to introduce at their annual sales conference, his name was Mike Hunt.

You own the copyright on the picture and this puts you in the driving seat as I understand it. You mention in your mail that you agreed 'terms' in fact all you have to do is be sure that they saw the terms/or the terms were presented to them - that makes them binding. No contracts are needed - no one needs to sign anything.

I would be tempted to write to them instructing them that you intend to add interest to the invoice at a rate of say 30% per week (perhaps). And just keep on invoicing them. They have obviously sustained production costs and so have a good deal to lose and the more they use the pic the more of a claim you have. The thing is they do not have the right to use the image until they have paid you for it - so happy hunting. If they still have not paid in a year then perhaps they will owe enough to make a trip to court worthwhile. Good luck.

I sympathize. It is a truly appalling expression. And I can't help feeling that the situation was exacerbated by the fact that it was being said by people old enough to know better/too f++king old to watch 'Friends' all the time.

Do you know that someone sent me an email a few months ago suggesting we organise some 'face space soon.' I suggested that if he used an expression like that ever again then I would have to kill him.

73  Club Arnage / General Discussion / An apology to Lady P on: July 12, 2008, 01:53:38 pm
I am writing to apologies to Lady P. A debate was running yesterday about road tax. Lady P posted that she did not purchase road tax for her car and I saw red. The reason it transpires that she does not buy tax is because she only drives on her own estate – where of course there is no requirement. I had not been aware of this when I posted a most disingenuous response. There are no real mitigating circumstances for my behaviour however I would say that a very good friend of mine was involved in an accident a little over ten years ago – the driver of the vehicle was not taxed or insured. My friend suffered severe brain damage and has not worked since. This has made the subject more than a little sensitive for me.

So Lady P I hope you will accept this apology. I have learnt a valuable lesson in as much I will be careful not to wade in until I am sure of all of the facts. Kind regards.
