hell of a night, details to follow Huh

I had a hell of a night too Peter, but I get the feeling mine was a lot more fun than yours.

Stay Strong
Dx

Ace! Sounds good. Was sex involved? Or just drink and drugs?  Wink

Andy at about 11pm last night i had a very strong urge for a swift measure of chilled Leffe Blonde.

Just spoke to Mrs FS, Peter has started his treatment and the side effects are kicking in abit (he will provide the technical details later on) although they have given him a dose of Methadone to help him through. Apprently the side effects (shaking and high temperature) wear off after a while and he is in good spirits, but he has another 4 sessions to go....... Tongue
For anybody who would like to send him rude or even nice mail, his ward address is

Peter Catchpole
C6L
Room 6
Tremona Road
Southampton
SO1 6YD

Methadone? Jesus what is CA coming to? Though I guess it must be hard for his usual Pete Docherty-style heroin dealer to get into the isolation ward to ply his filthy trade. Oh well, yet another drug-fuelled night for Mr Catchpole...  Wink

Take care Peter, and don't worry about the minature hippopotamuses flying around the room, they don't really exist!  Grin

Andy Z

allbeit I've had a good hard wack of Pethadone last night, no additional teatment has been necessary today.  Last night the temp was 39+ shivers and the rigours for about 8 hours.  more news to follow shortly.

BTW the address above is now correct, not in ICU just yet Cool

well the good news is that the dongle works! 7.5 mega bytes/sec, the down side is that the treatment to get me ready has begun and I'm hooked up to my first bag of fluid.  The measuring of input vs output begins at 07:00 tomorrow, two of the three lines which hook up to my aorta via the juggler aren't working at the mo, so might have to jump up and down to get the lines unblocked, failing that a call out to Uncle Bill Perdu for emergency roadside repairs   looks more likely... Welcome back to the world for a couple of weeks at least before, presumably, you re-enter Nurse Gladys Emmanuel's barrier...
MG Mark

one of the really nice bits from the last few days, if going into a place where the first thing they try to do is kill you, followed by rescue treatment, is that so many of the transplant team from three years ago are still there and are as happy and supportive as ever, the five pound tin of chocolates was also well received.

I wasn't the only person subjected to 'barrier' nursing, with half their face covered by a mask and woken up at 02:00 for the four hourly 'obs' can be a real frightener, believe me.  Temperature, blood pressure O2 %, heart rate, pulse and breathing rate plus pee and poo samples to make sure there wasn't anything nasty growing inside me.

Some other good news is that my 'donor' is from the good ole US of A, I felt like asking near turn 10? but when i heard that the lady concerned was slightly bigger than me and they were expecting a good cell harvest i knew that couldn't be true as it is well know fact that turn 10 cells are over 95% proof and can only be used for cleaning wounds and fuelling dragsters. Grin

that's all for now, a good night sleep beckons and the beaming face of Nurse Glacee'...

yes Mike, my Dongle has arrived and I've had a feel about its smooth and shiny surfaces, please feel free to publicly humiliate me in the best CA traditions Tongue

i see even when in hopital the remarks continue, managed to get released for two weeks after having temperature spikes all this week, no reason for them although the docs and nurses have done there best to grow 'cultures' in liquids and solids gathered and extracted from me.  why is it they always ask for a pee or poo sample after a monumental dump.

need a sleep now and will return to do my best with the helpful replies Wink Wink Wink Wink Wink

you'll have to excuse me a crusty ole pensioner, but are you saying if a put in one those card thingys i can access the internet?
73  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Ferrari Spider on: February 05, 2009, 07:20:10 pm
You can get a mobile broadband dongle for a laptop. Some places give you a 'free' laptop if you sign up to a contract for mobile b / b.

Might aid in staving off the cabin fever a bit.

they just don't have 'em Embarrassed
74  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Ferrari Spider on: February 05, 2009, 06:33:13 pm
just back from hopital and having the long line inserted, make of that as you will Grin  Mobiles are no probs, well there weren't in july 08 and three years ago when i had my last stem cell transplant.  as of yet southampton doesn't have any patient broadband or basic computer hook up. so no surfing to while away the hours, instead lots of books and films to catchup on.

Robbo SPS has lent his copy of Band of Brothers to me so thats five hours of ten weeks sorted Grin
