466  Club Arnage / General Discussion / le Mans 2004 reality tv on: July 04, 2003, 06:09:17 pm
a thought. Every year, lots of individuals and groups visit the great race. They come from all over the world and all walks of life. This year, 'Team monkey' made a video and it was alright, quite funny in places deadly dull in others. It made me think that with a little effort, and a fare amount of editing, a one hour (or so) film could be made featuring various teams and individuals. All they would need to do is take a video camara, and follow a basic outline script and film as and when they fancy. I cant help thinking that if say ten people made their own films there would be enough material to make something more interesting than a documentary about people that cant drive or sleep.
Any thoughts?
467  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:Gilles can you advise? on: July 03, 2003, 05:18:35 pm
Thanks for your relpies,Rhino, I too saw the set up near the Chinese retaurant and it was that that got me thinking. Gilles, if anything does come up, I would prefer close to the track, but if it had to be a few Km away then I would still consider. I would love to be able to buy a house, but frankly could not afford to. Once again, thanks for the replies. monkey.

468  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Gilles can you advise? on: July 01, 2003, 06:40:52 pm
Gilles, is land ever sold near or around the circuit. I, like many before me could be interested in buying a small plot (half the size of a football pitch perhaps)? Don't want to be able to build on it, or have any services, just a little slab of land. Any chance? Thanks. monkey.
469  Club Arnage / General Discussion / radio Le Mans its great, but.... on: June 18, 2003, 02:45:55 pm
This year I thought I noticed a change in Radio Le Mans. I remember what it was like before they began, and how tricky it was trying to keep up with the action. I remember when they first started and how the broadcasters enthusiasm made up for the slightly amateurish presentation. This year, the broadcast was more professional than ever. However as one of those lucky enough to be there, I was a little confused as to whether the braodcasts were targeted more toward those listening on the internet and less to those at the race. It felt at times that the show was more about being entertaining and less about providing ongoing race informtaion and as a result I felt it was a little diconnected from what was actually happening on the circuit. I must at this point say that the coverage from the pits was spot on at all times. It made me wonder if perhaps the needs have changed as a result of the arrival of new communication technology and perhaps radio Le Mans should consider prividing two services. One that entertains the casual non attending listner who will no doubt dip in and out, and one which provides up to the moment race commentary, more like it did when it first started? monkey

473  Club Arnage / General Discussion / strikes!!!!!!! on: June 03, 2003, 09:32:10 am
Sorry if this has been covered off already but. I have noticed that the latest strikes in France seem to be restricted to Tuesday's. Is there anyone, (Fab perhaps) who knows whether these disputes are scheduled and if so, do you know how they may effect travel next week and the early part of the week after. Is there any news on the possibility of the dispute being resolved and are they effecting travel once you get into France? Any ifo would be apprciated. Monkey.

476  Club Arnage / General Discussion / who is going in what? on: April 23, 2003, 05:51:27 pm
I don't seem to be able to find this section, so I thought I could start it here.

Last year I posted that I was mad enough to make the great trip to the Great Race in an Alpha 155, and (not surprisingly perhaps) the thought was met by a number of posts advising me on breakdown cover and insurance etc. I hoped at that time to hear from a number of like minded owners, who too were brave to risk it and take there Italian monsters down. (Even if is was just to swap parts) Sadly it seemed I was alone.

Well no longer, already it would seem that there could be Alpha's littered liberaly on the road side all the way down.

So to all you other Alpha owners, good luck, happy motoring and I'll see you there.

(I think I might leave now, just to be on the safe side.) monkey
477  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:Which ferry on: April 22, 2003, 07:07:42 pm
sure am, been taking a 155 for years, loved it to bits, but after 170,000 miles of trouble free motoring chopped it in for a 156. Before then I ran three 75's (not all at the same time of course) I just can't imagine running anything else. Well not that I could afford that is.
