451  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Radio Le Mans on: June 07, 2005, 02:17:50 pm
First, I have to say that I think Radio Le Mans is the 'chiens ballons' and remember what it was like in the mid 80's before it came on the scene. And so it is very much with that in mind that I offer this hopefully 'constructive suggestion' designed to (if it were possible) further improve the service provided. So if anyone from Radio Le Mans is out there, could I humbly suggest that during the race, on the hour, or better still every half hour there is a short, uninterrupted update on the race positions. I.e. 'In the lead, car number 4, in second place car number 6 on the same lap in third car 58 one lap behind........................

It would really help us pick up the action quickly after returning to the circuit following, whatever it is we do when we leave the circuit.

Just a thought.

See you there. Monkey.

Yup it does, so given that it is now16.30 cet how come it is showing 18 days and 30 mins to the start, when in 18 days, the race will have been running for half an hour?Huh?? Undecided

I've just spent my lunch hour happily watching the clock count down toward the start of the race on Lemans.org (sad I know but), only to find it is wrong, seems our friends at the ACO are on British Summertime...................... Roll Eyes

We saw the Jaguars win.  It doesn't get any better.

This is my 18th trip, I first went in 1985, but having suffered the disapointment of Jaguar not winning that year (American team) or 1986 TWR (We'll be back) or 1987 TWR I missed the 1988 race as it was very soon after my first son was born. Worked in my favour as it turns out, cause when Mrs Monkey saw my face when we heard the result, she promised she would never stop me from going again. She did though in 1991, my second son was born on Le Mans Sunday. I am delighted to say they will both be with me this year.
Oh I did see the Jag's win in 1990, and that was ten times better than the Bentley's a couple of years ago in my humble.

Can at last confirm that team Monkey will be leaving Oxford 16th for the over night St Malo, will eat up some nosh and drink some wine and make our way very slowly to Arnage, having spent the night on the coast. Smiley Will arrive 12ish. This is my 18th visit, brothers 17th and the 3rd visit for the young monkies. we do have the burdon of the her in doors monkey keeping an eye on us on the journeys, Cry but of course her invitation does not extend to the race itself. Cool Can't bloody wait!! Funny thought I would have grown out of it by now, but this time of year start looking over all the old video adventures from years gone bye. See you all over there.

It was a really good race, and think Mr Kerr will be well worth looking out for. Thought Herbert seemed to accept third pretty easily, did he have some sort of problem? And I think I saw some Club members, what's with the gnome??

462  Club Arnage / General Discussion / kart 24 hours on: August 14, 2003, 07:08:42 pm
A number of years ago, there was a feature on Top Gear about a 24 hour kart race on the Prost kart track at Le Mans. As I remember it the deal was that you get a team together pay around £1000 and enter, they provide all the equipement. Anyone know know if they still do this? Ta. monkey

for what it is worth, I went to a very simular line up of events in May at Silverstone and it was a really good days motor racing. Enjoy. monkey
464  Club Arnage / General Discussion / British Grand Prix anyone? on: July 15, 2003, 07:31:48 pm

I remember one year, I made a round trip of around 200 miles to by tickets to get me into the circuit (not with a seat) at Brands Hatch to watch a British Grand Prix and I was lucky to get them.

Just checked a website and I reckon I could book an entire grandstand at Stowe (If I was Bill Gates) for this weeks………race?

I really think that it is a shame that the ludicrous prices, coupled with poor sport, and the ‘couldn’t give a toss about the customer’ attitude shown by the organisers, (no roof on the new stands at Stowe being an example) could result in a very low turnout and ultimately lead to the UK loosing one of its potentially biggest annual International sporting events.

Cheers Bernie!

Do you think this means that they may be thinking of dumping pre qual in May? monkey
