Only a few short weeks until the new season starts.... Easter Thunderball and then the first big one of the year, The Main Event, first chance to see the fuelers used in anger. I was at the Euro Finals when Kim ran the 4.64, don't forget that the terminal speed was 318mph!!. There is an amazing shot taken of the car as it crossed the line, where you can clearly see that it is on three wheels. Sadly Kim has retired from drag racing now so we won't see him do it again. My pre season predictions are Carter or Kagerad for this year and Sheavills to make a triumphant return next year Oh and Phil Toppin to win CC/SE ![Grin](http://www.clubarnage.com/forum/Smileys/classic/grin.gif) Steve TTTD

Barry, Don't know the ITV one, but the BBC, back in the late '80s, did a series called The Power and The Glory, which was a history of motorsport and covered just about everything, from Le Mans to Nascar via F1 and Hill climbs.
That was/is available on video

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Birmingham Super Prix to be revived??
|
on: October 31, 2003, 03:51:19 pm

I know nothing about this apart from the E-Mail and website, but having seen a race in the 1980's I'd love to see it revived. I received this E-Mail out of the blue today Gets my support. Wouldn't if be good to see the European Le Mans series there? Steve Hello, As you previously entered a competition run by Birmingham101with a motorsport theme or have had previous contact with us regarding motorsport, we thought you may be interested to know that we are in the process of trying to get a major motor racing event run on the streets of Birmingham along the lines of the old Birmingham Super Prix of the late 1980's. The plans are now taking shape and we are getting a lot of support from right across the board. We have put more details along with some photos and video clips of the old event on a dedicated web site on http://www.birminghamsuperprix.com where you can find out more. If you get chance please check this out. The more feedback and support we get the better as it gives us a stronger case to put to all the necessary authorities. Thanks for your time and I hope you like the idea. Regards Robert Houghton www.Birmingham101.com

Screwed to my garden fence by the barbie I have a perspex Le Mans.com sign anout 5' x 3' which came off the front of one of the grandstands at the Ford Chicaine..... Had to break some of it off to get it in the back of the Volvo estate, but it looks great at night with the backlighting on.

Club Arnage / General Discussion / What the heck is going on ticketwise

Alongside my booking through the ACO, and as a banker I thought I'd call Just Tickets to make sure that I have a camping ticket for Tertre Rouge next year.
They told me that I had just bought one of the last THREE available!!!!.....
Jaysus it's only a month since the race finished, if the ticket agancies are already sold out what hope does anyone have of getting tickets for 2004.
OK, maybe I will pay more, but at least I have a ticket

Tertre Rouge was kept nicely clean by what appeared to be an entire family of Frenchies who had moved in complete with TV and caravan...... Not sure about Mrs Mop selling bread straight after cleaning the bogs though (Pine bleach flavour croissants m'suir?), or the fact that they shut up shop at 4pm on the dot on Sunday afternoon.

Another alternative (depending on where in Manchester you are) is the M62/A1/M25 route.... I use that often and it's usually clear

To add to the 'support the lost causes' claim, I was probably the only one on any campsite over the past three years flying a Cadillac flag.....

I'm on Tertre Rouge, from Monday..... Come over an have a beer or two..... Too new in PVR to have seen the Blackburn games, but I was at the final conference game of the season hanging on the phone recieving the reports from Forest Gump that consigned us to the Doc martens premiership..... 13 minutes from glory........ And at Reading last year...... Brief moments of hope....... Maybe Paul can get us back where we belong.... Champions league football in 6 years.......... lol ![Grin](http://www.clubarnage.com/forum/Smileys/classic/grin.gif)
