Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: pretzel on September 09, 2003, 02:38:59 pm Might be a bit tricky for me - I will have only just returned from a couple of weeks holiday (well deserved of course).
I may have to make an exceptional effort though if The Shed makes a track appearance....... Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on September 09, 2003, 02:55:25 pm No prob. Should it be full, I will post here
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on September 09, 2003, 08:47:26 pm Hi Mark
Put me down for a place . Despite Pretzel's comments .........it won't be the "Shed" appearing .........however ",Shed 2" will make an appearance,as it is quicker and handles like an Espace should!!!! ;D I'm only doin it to amuse the rest of you on the day. Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on September 09, 2003, 09:09:50 pm Fantastic Pretzel! Is it the support vehicle you had on Sunday or the other one you are bringing?
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: pretzel on September 10, 2003, 02:38:29 pm Hi DR,
I will not be bringing the Shed as it is Wishywashyman who has the dubious honour of having 2 of them, not me (fortunately :). The one you saw on Sunday was the original Shed. I'll ley Wishy describe the difference between the 2 - even I have not had the privelige of seeing the newer one yet. Pretzel Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on September 10, 2003, 03:03:56 pm Yeah, sorry, typo.... Crap at remembering who is who, my poor mind is frazzled from abuse.
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on September 11, 2003, 08:47:37 pm Hi DR
The "Sheds" as ....in.... your words the "support vehicle" is normally aspirated and "shed 2 " is injected ....hence I will bring shed 2 as it should give an advantage on acceleration .........mind you the handling will still be c**p!!! ;D Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: pretzel on September 12, 2003, 12:51:55 am Might just be worth the effort to come down if Shed II makes an appearance. Have you heard that Ian will be down?
If you could get a ride with him that would make a ride in the Sube seem like a Sunday drive...... Don't forget the incontinence pants ;) Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on September 13, 2003, 08:17:45 pm Only one prob with Ian's car.......it only has one seat.!!!!
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on September 15, 2003, 10:51:40 pm I hear rumor that my application for "Shed 2"appearing has now been overshadowed by "The Beast of Gurston" making an appearance at the track day???? ;D
I guess there are different levels at any form of motorsport,or for that matter, track days............the only good thing about the rumor is ...........Pretzel"eat your heart out".........your F,T.D is going to dissaper in October!!!!! :) ;D ::) Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on September 15, 2003, 11:15:40 pm We've just picked up a sorta shed of our own - didnt want to risk killing the Sud - plus it will be stored for the winter by then, and the 33 is our daily drive and cant risk that not making it home, so we went out and bought a Celica 2.0GT for a song and have stripped it out and will be using that instead! At least I wont have to worry if it goes bang! Now, shall I sort that rust out before the event ;D ;D
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on September 15, 2003, 11:34:55 pm Watch out "wishywashy", the Burgundy Beast will demolish the shed on the 19th. You have been warned!!! Suggested protection, use a stout straw bail!
The beast has spoken >:( Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: pretzel on September 16, 2003, 02:16:31 pm Looks like I'll have to make even more of an effort to get to Sparkford on the day then if I can.
If I can't make it I hope that there will be someone there taking pictures :) Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on September 16, 2003, 07:28:04 pm There is no comparison between the "Burgundy Beast " and "Shed 2 ".
Mine is a pure untouched specimin, unlike the beast.........perhaps we should run a handicap.....you can drive with one hand only!!! ;D......or use "Perv"as the handicap!!!! Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on September 17, 2003, 04:25:10 pm Just noticed I didnt post links for the declaration and booking form - here you go:

Eat your heart out!!!!! ;D ;D :P Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on September 17, 2003, 09:49:12 pm :o Excellent! Front row seat to watch them play! Well Pretzel.......the gauntlet is down.........my mechanics son says he will be bringing his scooby Legacy with 280BHP and full suspension set up!!!!! Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on September 17, 2003, 10:01:27 pm Who the hell would want to touch your "specimen" anyway, Wishy!! If you do bring your "specimen", please keep in the bottle! As for driving with 1 hand, who says I use my hands to steer with anyway.
UMMMMMMM! PRETZELS!!!!!! ;) Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: pretzel on September 17, 2003, 11:26:11 pm Please somebody take a camcorder, what with a mad Legacy and the Burgundy Beast I'm going to miss out badly if I can't make it. Not to mention the Shed II and the newly acquired Celica.
BTW Mark - don't bother with the rust - it can only help improve the aerodynamics ;) Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on September 18, 2003, 12:31:58 am Will be sure to take a camcorder... Trouble is getting it into the PC. Could always post you a copy of the tape.
With regard to the rust - I could knock it out and then it would way less ;D Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on September 18, 2003, 09:34:31 am Thought I would try a new marketing tactic! Good ole Ebay!

Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on September 22, 2003, 12:00:58 pm yeap! this one is lookinig it'll be a full 'un
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on September 22, 2003, 03:37:13 pm One wonders whether the Shed I or Shed II, whichever, will be there. Wishy still hasn't had his head skimmed yet. His cylinder head needs doing as well!! :o :o
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on September 22, 2003, 09:43:22 pm Correction!!!!
The cylinder head is skimmed :) :D.............however after Saturday night my head needed some seious attention!!! Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on September 23, 2003, 11:00:35 pm Best you get yer missus sort yer head out!! ::)
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 09, 2003, 11:36:01 am Just to confirm - the Track Day is now fully booked!

Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on October 09, 2003, 10:04:19 pm i take it the shed I/II, whatever, isn't going, cos that would very interesting :o :o
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 09, 2003, 10:56:55 pm Ginetta G15, Focus ST170, Golf GTi, Pulsar GTi-R, Espace, Celica, BMW 318is.... Oh, and some nutter is bringing a Westfield - lets hope its longer lasting than the last one ;D
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: pretzel on October 09, 2003, 11:03:55 pm Shed I/II is mildly interesting in the cornering angles it can achieve so should be worth a watch.
Still mulling over whether or not to come and spectate. Will let you know if coming. How much just to sit in the car park and view the maniacs? Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on October 09, 2003, 11:10:03 pm Well Pretzel
As they say.It takes one to know one!!!! Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on October 09, 2003, 11:14:55 pm The nutter with the westfield is a champ...or is it chump, never could tell the difference between the two........... ;)
However on the day would you be so kind as to supply some straw bales..........as the "beast" is partial to the odd bale as a snack when passing.....through!!!!! Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on October 10, 2003, 07:25:06 pm Only the best quality bale will do, you know! As to the cornering angles on the Shed, they're there even in staight line. Get a motorcycle cop to jump out in front of him 1/2 way round, that'll spice things up!! 8) ;D
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on October 10, 2003, 07:33:38 pm ooops!!..............forgot about that incident....glad you reminded me.....I do prefer scantily clad ladies in maids uniforms though.because that would help to drive in a more erratic manner, more in keeping with track day spectacles ;D
Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 10, 2003, 09:43:44 pm I'll have a word with HTG - not promising anything tho...! :P :o ;D
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on October 11, 2003, 08:02:33 pm Why does Wishy need maids to drive in an erratic manner? I thought he did that anyway. He's been watching my driving too much!! ::) ;)
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on October 18, 2003, 08:44:37 pm "Woe to you, Oh Earth And Sea, for the Devil sends the "Beast" with wrath, because he knows the time is short........
Let him him who hath understanding reckon the number of the "Beast" for it is a human number, its number is Six hundred and sixty s...........ah bol**cks to this, its 1380BDH, so there!!!!" C U 2MRW guys!! :-* ;) Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on October 18, 2003, 10:43:48 pm And I thought the "beasts" number was"78" or is it "79"
C U there 2 Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on October 19, 2003, 08:22:13 am I see you are up bright and early Ian!!!!
Got my flyinghelmet and goggles ready for the day see you at 9.45 Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on October 19, 2003, 08:20:04 pm Well, what can I say. Great track day, really enjoyable. I have now reached maturity (no chance) as my wheel nuts have now dropped!! All now secure, so nothing flops around anymore. Great to see the Shed going round, best laugh we've had in ages. TIP. Go to a track-day in beat up heap of sh*t, drive like a lunatic, and get extra laps for your effort, brilliant!!??
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on October 19, 2003, 09:08:58 pm Well Beasty.......it's not what you know its who you know.
Anyway.Mark was obviously feeling sorry for me as Ihave not been out on a track for 15 years. Also the little Red bus wheels do go round and round .......unlike the "Beast"!!!!!!!.....yours are more like clonk....clonk....clonk. Just like spotty the dog in the woodentops. Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: pretzel on October 20, 2003, 02:31:59 pm Well.... Even though I didn't go around this time it was the perfect pick me up after returning from warmer climes to see the Shed being driven in anger (or is that mild annoyance?) around a track. You don't normally see those cornering roll angles:)
I have a couple of pictures that I will post when I get a moment. (Don't laugh too loudly when you see them). Will there be any other pictures posted on the Dreamracers site? Shame about the sheared studs on the Beast. It was nice to see the contrast between roadgoing and race car. Cornering being the real difference. I guess there will be a few cars that will be needing new OSF tyres today. I look forward to the programme for next year's events. Any plans yet? Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 20, 2003, 04:08:01 pm Planing about 5 or 6 for next year, but will wait for the weather to improve...
Just got the piccies back, will scan/post them soon enough. Sorry to hear about your nuts Ian, as I was out on the timing post at the time, didnt know what had happened or say "thanks for coming" and "bye" (same for you Wishy) Got to admit, yesterday was a great laugh with a real mix and match of folks and equipment. That chap in the Pulsar was a goddam nutter (fun to watch tho') Wishy - you see I stuck some fibre glass on the sill of the Toyota in honour of the Espace. Really enjoyed seeing the Shed out there, and the Beast... Maybe a Xmas/New Year Track Day for the brave?? Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on October 20, 2003, 05:58:58 pm Apart from the dig at Ian over my "pile of s**t.
Thanks to you guys for winding me up over driving the"Shed"at a track day. I have'nt had so much fun in years.......It was great throwing the poor thing around the track yesterday. Thanks to Ian for the advice on tyre pressure ...the afternoon was certainly quieter round the corners and traction was much better when booting it out of the corners. So perhaps any CA members who have MPV's would like to come down to Sparkford and have laugh. Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on October 20, 2003, 07:24:01 pm Must admit, Wishy, it was good to see something different going to a track-day. I'll get to 1 or 2 of the days next year, Mark, between events. Don't know about x'mas or new year though. I don't fancy freezing my nuts off!!!
If any Club Arnage regulars want to see the "Beast" in its natural surroundings, I can post up dates for my events for 2004, when available. Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: smokie on October 20, 2003, 08:46:06 pm Its been a fascinating thread, but as the event is now history I will now unsticky it...
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 21, 2003, 11:35:11 am Thanks Smokie, its been a big help having the topic stuck.
Wishy - The Shed was a definate crowd pleaser - bit like the Morgans at Le Mans in '02... ;) What was the advice about pressures? Would be interesting to know Piccies scanned - need resizing, nearly done Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 21, 2003, 03:37:52 pm Track Day Pictures (http://www.dreamracers.net/oddsnsods/track/) Are now up and ready for your approval! Enjoy...
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: hgb on October 21, 2003, 03:42:57 pm Very nice Ginetta.
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 21, 2003, 05:36:39 pm (http://www.dreamracers.net/oddsnsods/track/200310/woah.jpg)
Very nice air! The event was the Ginetta's first run out since the chap had bought it and survived the day admirably Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 21, 2003, 06:25:13 pm (http://www.dreamracers.net/oddsnsods/track/200310/belgians.jpg)
Its amazing what some people take to a track day ;) ;D Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: pretzel on October 21, 2003, 07:38:06 pm I bet even Wishy will hardly recognise that one....... ;)
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on October 21, 2003, 08:24:48 pm Hmmmm.........I like the mods Mark...except for the flames down the side.
This is beginning to give me ideas for the future.!!!!!! ;D Thanks for the comment about the shed beind a "crowd pleaser" or was it "disbelief that some nutter was actually going to drive the shed round the track". I only wanted to have some fun in it.....Which I did. And finally.Ian recommended that I put 40psi in the tyres.I borrowed Ians pump after lunch and did as Iwas told, and the difference in handling and traction was definately noticable.....so next time try it yourself. Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Gilles on October 22, 2003, 11:00:06 am Renault Espace is definitely not the car to drive at a track day... It's so dangerous, because of the high gravity centre... My experience of a daily espace driver make me feel angry only by thinking running fast with such a car! :o
I'll better, with mostly the same sensations, drive a Smart :P Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Skodaman1 on October 22, 2003, 12:14:24 pm Very nice air! Why Thank-you.... That'll teach you to give me the keys... Big up to Wishy for having the guts to run what he brung. At no point did the shed look like it was going to tip over, must be due to the fibreglass panels... Looked like a lot of fun too! Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: pretzel on October 22, 2003, 02:22:01 pm At no point did the shed look like it was going to tip over, must be due to the fibreglass panels... Probably due to the low centre of gravity imparted by the weight of the driver...... ;) Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on October 22, 2003, 03:47:16 pm Thanks for the support Skodaman.
The best bit on the day was when Dreamracers....flagged me over to as if I was having fun,and mentioned in passing "was I aware that round a couple of the corners the rear wheel was lifting.!" So if anybody took piccys of ths phenomonon .Please can you send me copies.# And by the wayI take it Pretzel you are insinuating that I am a "fat bastard" again......very naughty of you.....and as they say a "sharp kick in the bo***cks some times offends. Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 22, 2003, 06:24:44 pm The best bit on the day was when Dreamracers....flagged me over to as if I was having fun,and mentioned in passing "was I aware that round a couple of the corners the rear wheel was lifting.!" And that we couldnt hear you singing "wheels on the bus".... ;D ;) Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on October 22, 2003, 08:10:06 pm Hi DR
I thought you were putting on a movie of the event complete with soundtrack and music? Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on October 22, 2003, 08:56:14 pm Yeah. Some nice ballet music would be jolly nice for the piruete I managed. Bloody tutu slipped again!! :-*
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 22, 2003, 10:04:56 pm Yeah. Some nice ballet music would be jolly nice for the piruete I managed. Bloody tutu slipped again!! :-* Is that what happened to your nuts - got them tangled in your tutu? Wishy - I have got Luc Besson to do the movie, hense we wont see it for bloody years..... Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Black Widow on October 23, 2003, 06:58:21 pm It'll be very arty, but won't any bloody sense. How about John Woo instead!! :D
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 23, 2003, 08:49:59 pm Now that would be fun.... Chow Yun Fat playing me?
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 26, 2003, 05:08:42 pm MORE PICTURES!!! (http://www.wussel.com/Haynes1003.htm) This time from Andrew Hill (cheers bud).
Some good un's of teh Shed!!! Look at the lean!!! :o Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: wishy on October 26, 2003, 08:29:35 pm Hmmmmm......I see what you guys were refering to ,as to the slight body roll on the"shed".
Next track day I go to,I will bring "shed II" as it is certainly quicker and handles slightly better. Mind you the handling should be better "shed II" has only covered 110,000 miles so far, whereas "shed I" is currently on 308,000 miles on the original engine. Wishy Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 26, 2003, 10:14:58 pm Just bring either!! They steal the show - thats why we had to keep putting the Celica onto three wheels, and the Beast trying so hard it broke - only way to capture the limelight back from the Shed!
Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: BigH on October 27, 2003, 12:31:17 am Bringing ether is a tremendous idea.
It solves so many problems at once. H Title: Re:OCTOBER TRACK DAY Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on October 28, 2003, 08:59:24 am For sale, one Toyota Celica, three slightly worn tyres... (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2439783263&category=18290&rd=1) ;)
