Title: New ACO members enclosure Post by: Barry on June 01, 2009, 07:55:23 pm The ACO have opened a new members enclosure down near the Dunlop footbridge.
I don't know for certain if this one replaces the one by the Poo bar, but I think it does. According to the site that's where you collect your programme, entry list etc. Cost to members guests is €15. I think it was only €5 last year for the guest bands. :( http://www.autoclub.fr/ressources/pdf/espace_membres_24h_2009_gb.pdf Title: Re: New ACO members enclosure Post by: pretzel on June 02, 2009, 11:03:23 am The ACO have opened a new members enclosure down near the Dunlop footbridge. Good location though on the inside of 'Chapel Corner' according to the ACO. In all the years we've been going I never knew that was the name of that particular corner (where the track turns sharp right to go back on to the Bugatti Circuit after Dunlop) Good spot though to be able to see the run down from Dunlop, through the Esses and on to Tertre Rouge. The pricing of the guest bands is very steep though. You're right Barry, I think they 5 or 6 Euros last year. Still 15 euro seems a bit steep, although they are now open during practice and qualification. It must become something like this when finished: http://nsm01.casimages.com/img/2009/05/31/090531082559499653778517.jpg (http://nsm01.casimages.com/img/2009/05/31/090531082559499653778517.jpg) Title: Re: New ACO members enclosure Post by: geoffd on June 02, 2009, 01:51:04 pm I was only saying the other day that it was about time the old Museum was spruced up for us members! I like the idea of being near the track, and the extended opening hours are great. Whilst I agree the €15 is quite a lot, at least it might keep the numbers down to something a bit more manageable if some of the "guests" don't want to cough up! Hope they provide some decent toilets as well! Still, I'll find out next Thursday, ;D Title: Re: New ACO members enclosure Post by: pretzel on June 02, 2009, 02:58:59 pm This is what's left of the old Musee/members enclosure (http://nsa08.casimages.com/img/2009/04/23/mini_090423081403418955.jpg)(http://nsa08.casimages.com/img/2009/04/23/mini_090423081425239603.jpg)(http://nsa07.casimages.com/img/2009/04/23/mini_090423081449649479.jpg) The new enclosure is a temporary one: (http://nsa08.casimages.com/img/2009/05/30/mini_090530084959998163.jpg)(http://nsa07.casimages.com/img/2009/05/30/mini_09053008502960495.jpg)(http://nsa08.casimages.com/img/2009/05/30/mini_090530085053707247.jpg)(http://nsa07.casimages.com/img/2009/05/30/mini_090530085126238236.jpg) Looks OK, trackside viewing, a giant screen, live timing, 2 restaurants and a bar. It looks a lot smaller than the older incarnation though so getting a seat will be even more difficult than in years gone by - with or without the new 15 Euro entry fee. There also does not appear to be a lot of space atround it for tables and chairs. Have those pallets been tested for structural integrity? Title: Re: New ACO members enclosure Post by: mwbennett on June 02, 2009, 03:06:20 pm From the plan, it looks like 3 or 4 buildings?
Title: Re: New ACO members enclosure Post by: Bas on June 02, 2009, 05:30:22 pm Yes several buildings with some space in between, it resembles the old welcome centre setting imo.
That was a great place to get away from the busy village and just quietly relax on the lawn with a beer. I think I'll go and watch there for practice on Wednesday. Excellent news that it is several buildings. We'll probably also take a look Wednesday evening. Title: Re: New ACO members enclosure Post by: mgmark on June 03, 2009, 12:47:11 am Can anyone say exactly where it is, and does it mean that trackside viewing area(s) that was/were previously available to the general public have been taken over?

They replied that it was because of all the money they'd laid out on our behalf. No further comment needed really............

OK from the ACO brochure I think that the new enclosure will be on the spot where the La Chapelle campsite was:(http://i41.tinypic.com/2h2fm6r.jpg) Link to Google Maps: http://tinyurl.com/o7sgu3 From the looks of it they'll close the banking to the general public (like they did at MB the last few years). It would be easy to close off and it has easy access for the caterers and vendors via the Bugatti track. Title: Re: New ACO members enclosure Post by: mwbennett on June 03, 2009, 04:13:44 pm Does this mean no Sunday morning church service then?
I have seen this in progress in years gone by. Assume it still happens. After all, what's this area called again ;) Title: Re: New ACO members enclosure Post by: mgmark on June 03, 2009, 11:20:08 pm Guys ,
Thanks for the pointers - it might have helped if I had looked at the posts/links properly in the first place...... MG Mark |
