Not sure if it's less excitement or that we've all peaked too early!
I do this every year - the whole build up and the two weeks before the off is excruciating - time definately slows down, and I get myself so worked up that I have to distract myself with things like gardening!
There's only so many times you can trial pack and check your paperwork and tickets.

Spent today framing photos and posters from Le Mans and put them all up in my study. I've got a Le Mans wall now. Ikea tomorrow to get a glass display cabinet for other memorabilia. All this and it's my wedding anniversary today. Isn't Mrs Lord Steve understanding!!!

Happy anniversary Steve. I'm away for mine, as I have been for the past 5 years.

Been planting trees today.

Oh, and some tickets arrived.

Thanks Ade - it's usually father's day when we're away as well on the Sunday.
Tickets?
Anything to do with a motor race or maybe the current Beyonce tour?

I personaly think the race will be more exciting this year because of Aston and I will be following whats going on in LMP1 as the GT1 race wont be as good which is a shame, :(

I'm excited to see what Aston can do in LMP1.  Unfortunately, last year's tv coverage largely ignored the GT1 battle in favor of some French car chasing an Audi.  Go figure.  If nothing else, I expected the US announcers to talk up the fight from the Corvette side, but they didn't touch on it too much.  Just one more reason to hop a flight to France.

Decided that I had to assemble the gear today.

Ended up making myself a flagpole - as you do!

It's very British - i.e. totally Heath Robinson  ;)

Now for some 'decent' flags

Union Flag & St Georges Cross, or just good old St George?

Title: Re: Very quiet .......................

Phil, personnally I would go for just the St Georges on its own

The flag has got to be St George only.

Spent the day checking the equipment (again), and arranging yet another meeting with the Team Booze 'n' Tabs members to check Rhinos new batch of homebrew  >:D

Just received the 1983 race DVD through the post, which is going to be my brothers birthday present tomorrow.  So difficult not to watch it before I give it to him, and to re-live all of those good memories (our first year).  I had to get out the old photos and go and sit in the garden (next to a main road), and guess where I was dreaming I was...... ;D

That's sort of what I was thinking.

Can get a Union & a St. George from ebay for £3.50 each.

But where can I get a CA flag?

Did a search & see that there were some printed a few years ago.

But where can I get a CA flag?

None available at the moment.
2 print runs were done a few years ago, none since.
Minimum run was I believe 25, so need to wait untill sufficent people want one.

Makes me wonder why some women are so anti-"mates-little-annual-get-together-and-share-a-beer-and-have-some-fun". Jealousy, as they only drink tea with their friends? :-\

I think we all have the same problem paddy, I think these women think we are going there to enjoy ourselves rather than the serious study of fast cars and researching the best beers and how much we can consume without falling over  :o

Title: Re: Very quiet .......................

We are all different.  Many of the women I know are delighted when their o/h's b*gg*r off and leave them in peace for a few days.  Provided of course, that they are allowed to do the same thing from time to time and (if applicable) leave the kids with the chaps while they enjoy themselves in their turn.

My o/h knows, and always has done, that if he doesn't like the domestic arrangements, then the door is that rectuangular wooden thing in the wall....

Tickets arrived safely at the 'safe house' this morning and are stashed with the camping gear, credit card, wedge of euros and passport. If it all goes pair shaped all I have to do is get out of the house. I've worked out a route which involves climbing down off the kitchen roof, down the back of the shrubs and across the lawn on the blind spot. Only snag is the river at the end of the garden which I will have to swim. Hell or high water I will be there. Hoping to get the green light before then though. I have all the guys teasing me with texts at the moment (which I know she will read at some point this weekend) and have been sulking a lot, she will soon realize that its because of the LM ban I'm so miserable lately. She'll soon cave in ;D

2 weeks today and i will be pissed- this will all be a distant memory ;)

Use chloroform when she is asleep in the bedroom and tie her up while she is 'under', gag her and then go to LM... on your return put some ropes downstairs and struggle upstairs saying you have just untied yourself and is she ok, then check if any thing is missing  ;) tell her you thought you were going to die apart :'(  and sob a bit.

It is either that or tell her now and miss LM anyway because you will be in hospital!

Hide the suitcases so she can't move out... on the other hand, put them where she can see them.

Or, you could say you have to go somewhere for a few days to look at another Saab and hope to be back soon then phone to say the van has broken down so you will not be back until monday night.

I can personally recommend a non-standard dose of Night Nurse... its good for a sly night out on the razzle, but probably wont last a full week at LM.

A little extreme Mart even for me!

My plan is going well. Mrs S was observed reading my texts from the guys last night. They are doing well, she's being kind to me which is evidence that there is a heart in there after all. A few more days and its in the bag (or I'm in the river).

Shes out this afternoon so I'm going to have a practice run down over the Kitchen roof ;)

While she is out do some hooovering in her best party dress, that will make you feel better. Even better if she catches you because you will either have incredible sex or she will throw you out of the house. If it is the first then you ask her, she will not be able to refuse while she gets her breath back, if it is the second you can go anyway!

Just here with a bit of helpful advice.

Fool!!!! There's no heart in any of them. They make you think there is then WHAM, your balls are in the vice again. If she's being kind to you she probably wants a baby, or a sofa, or probably both.

Good luck, I've already fallen victim to the every other year agreement, but it heartens me to know there are distant comrades still willing to lay everything on the line for the cause.

See you next year, unless of course YOUR every other year agreement kicks in then and we start to alternate  ;D

Cripes, Robspot, it sounds as if you've met some pretty awful women in your time.  I cannot imagine why anybody would want  a long term relationship with someone who doesn't let them go to LM every year.  B*l*x to that.

I will have to introdude you to my wife one day Martin as you clearly haven't a clue what shes like.

In the mean time, just think Cybil Fawlty and you are half way there.

@Robspot- shes had a new car, kitchen, sofa, the whole house re-decorated, new kitchen floor, countless shopping trips etc already in the last six months. She doesn't want any more kids so thats that theory out. When asked just what she wants she'd probably reply 'a new husband!'

Meanwhile got some much needed pre match training in yesterday. Supermarket for boxes of cheep french stubbies-check. Sitting about in the sun getting drunk/sunburnt-check. Burning fingers on right hand whilst messing with BBQ-check. Falling into pool whilst drunk-check. Not a bad day all in all.

Got the van to service this morning and going to go through the camping gear this aft. That funny tingling feeling in the stomach is getting stronger...not long now guys and gals!

Got the van to service this morning and going to go through the camping gear this aft. That funny tingling feeling in the stomach is getting stronger...not long now guys and gals!

Si

It is a great shame you are not allowed to come Si !!!

Dr S, are you still there?

Someone call an ambulance, he has not been online for a couple of hours. His missus may have been watching Spring Watch and fed him to the Red Kites.

Is anybody out there??? (Pink Floyd)

Ahh, the Red Kite. I was out biking on the North Yorks Moors last weekend and my twitcher mate had a fit when he saw one circling above us. Personally i thought it was waiting for me to keel over so it could feast on my eyes.

I'm still alive, been busy cutting the hedges and mowing the grass at sconefinger towers. Getting those brownie points in stock as suprise suprise, a spare seat will become available for a trip to LM at the weekend with the lads- whats the chances of that??

Ever hopeful
Si

Good luck, I've already fallen victim to the every other year agreement, but it heartens me to know there are distant comrades still willing to lay everything on the line for the cause
.

I'm on an every other year agreement. Every other year I go to The 24hrs. On my year off I go to the Classic 24hrs. Its a completely different thing, a technicality, a loop hole. Try it!  ;D

I was out hunting with red tail kites recently - most enjoyable day, tho they were pretty young and in early training and didnt manage to actually catch anytyhing they got half a dozen good hits!  You would probably be ok if you keeled over in mid-Wales Dr S.
