Club Arnage

I have already posted this on another site and it seems there is good interest. The mairie (town hall) at Mulsanne want to start a meeting on the Friday and the idea is to come and go as you please, meet people, perhaps eat at a bar down the road who is laying on a bbq. it would seem that most people are going as usual to St. Saturnin and that the majority will be turning up in the afternoon. The roads will be closed off and parking reserved in the town square for the english invasion. I need to get an idea of numbers so if interested I suggest you use your screen name and the car you will be coming in. Then the next person can cut and paste and add his name and car and so on. Might be useful if this became a sticky from an admin point of view too.

This is completely unknown territory being the first time they have tried to do this but if there is a good response then it can only get better once they get into their stride.

Sounds like a great plan. Any idea of timings?
I had planned to go into town but want to see if I can combine the two.

The idea is that it will run all day but again it depends on the response. Just come and go as you please really. I have a meeting with the deputy mayor next week to discuss further. I shall be helping out at St. Saturnin until 3pm and will be there afterwards.

I've been following this on pistonheads , but didnt think our 3 cars need any privileged parking so were just going to park up and walk.

I think we would be doing the pitwalk then a tour up the Mulsanne past the restaurant a look around then head to centreville mulsanne.

Arrival time ~ 13:00 ish.

Probably depend on whether we are sober enough to drive/ride up there.
Don't think the S-Max will qualify for town square parking, but we can squeeze the Yammie in right next to the bar. ;D

They had a bit of a classic car display last year - not sure if it was the Friday? The cars were all French reg IIRC.

ps - just read the thread on PH: the flics were closing the public road at Arnage corner early (8ish) on Friday morning last year. I suspect this was to stop too much silliness. But cycling around (e.g. down to Mulsanne or up to MB) was no problem. So if you are taking the Raleigh Chopper to Mulsanne as opposed to the 356C then getting back on the track is n problem (or wasn't last year!)

No, this is in addition to St. Saturnin. The town hall is offering a free beer to all who turn up but I shall be at St. Sat all morning and the start of the afternoon. The idea is not to compete but to complement each other. The idea amongst Pistonheads and Club Arnage is to meet people you've never put a face to before. It is just a meet, nothing special but the town hall hope you'll turn up in numbers.

Sounds like a good plan, I should be able to make it with a 1984 Audi quattro.

I'm not sure that putting "free" and "beer" in the same sentence on CA is a good idea, Lynx. ;)

No drive from St St is anticipated (I don't have a car for a kick off), although we'll be there in the morning as Moggie obviously has to join in her birthday celebrations.  A meet at Mulsanne in the afternoon sounds like a plan to me.  Probably just Paul and me and Mogs but I have no idea how I'll feel in a month's time about doing too much.  I'm not even out of hospital yet.

Phil, I reckon Andy will be taking the Cadillac to St Sat.  I think we should also head down to Mulsanne for the afternoon.

I'm sure we'll have space for you (as it is a bit of a barge).

Update;

We are now talking to Team Oreca to have a racing simulator for you all to try - well, if they do all well and good but I reckon there will be a waiting list! The town hall and I are more or less in agreement that this will now start around 11am since there are very few that seem to want to come the morning. There will be one way in well signposted from the Mulsanne roundabout. Like I've said before, this is the very first time and we are winging it, so please accept we are trying to do our best for you.

Where is the Town Hall relative to the Muslanne Corner roundabout then Mr Lynx??

There will be signs and even arrows indicating the way from the Mulsanne roundabout. Basically, if coming down the Mulsanne (the road Mulsanne/Arnage is shut of course) then carry straight on direction Tours. Straight on at the next small roundabout and turn left opposite the flower shop. Now it's but 100 yds.

The town hall are closing off the square for parking and each and every one of you will receive a free beer token! There will also be a driving simulator to find out just how gifted - or not - you are. The idea is to open at noon and the entry will be well signposted from the Mulsanne roundabout. 200 yds or so from the town hall is my local bar who is putting on a BBQ should you feel the need to refill and add to the free beer offered.

We are on Houx not doing St Saturnin going up to the circuit in the morning got 2 virgins who want to look around the pit lane. We will be going to Mulsanne early afternoon will have space for you if you want

That's great, many thanks for the offer. I'll be in the pit lane on Friday morning as I've got an invite to the #64 Corvette Pit to meet Oliver Gavin. Think it starts at 10 but I've got to meet a customer as well for a beer afterwards. Do you know what time you are heading up to Mulsanne?
