Title: brittany ferries - new solid gold ferry
Post by: rory on August 27, 2003, 06:47:41 pm
don't usually join in grumbling on the forum about aco, ticket agencies, ferry companies, etc.  but in this case i'm gonna make an exception and get mine in early.
got my booking confirmation through today from brittany ferries and for portsmouth / caen return (incl cabins admittedly) they want £586 for a standard car.  if you are still waiting for your bf confirmation then sit down before opening.
i thought £450 this year was a pisstake - especially as my effing car broke down before i even got through douane at caen but that's a whole other grumble.  newhaven / dieppe come on down.
and now to cancel out this grumble i can heartily recommend the amazing dvd of 'rendezvous' from spiritlevel films.  seem to remember a mate of rusty's buying the rights in the uk.  if you haven't seen it get it and prepare to be amazed.  i don't really care if it is a fraud or not, but if it isn't that guy must have titanium bollocks with a kevlar sack.
keep the faith.
rory

Call me a cynic , but the uplift in pricing wouldnt be anything to do with
Brittany Ferries super-ferry  "Pont -Aven" due to be launched next April on the Plymouth=Santander crossing , a mere snip at £100 MILLION !!

It's called a 'Coaster' because there's loads of convenient places to stand your drink on it.

(Andy, do you have an entire album of Commer photos?)

Okay, I've thought long and hard about this, its either :-
a) Because it is so old it was named when the Romans were still around and a certain emperor who built a wall lent his name to it, or :
b) Named by Sly Stallone in his quise as Rocky when he didn't use to drop his 'H's (think about it!)
 ;)

Not trying to distract the thread from the COMMER , but have just tried to book my trip with Brittany Ferries , for a change , thought it would be cheaper............

Car, trailer, 4 people cabin overnight on Weds, cabin on return , afternoon Monday , price is  ...£648 .

Twice the price of last years cost for 7 out in minibus with cabins both ways on P&O .
What is that about............. £162 each just for the ferry......

At that price soon i maybe in a commer ( coma )  :o :o
