Do you think we (CA) could organise it faster and more efficiently? Title: Re: Does anyone think..................................? Post by: tn*c on January 25, 2009, 10:41:07 pm What a stupid Question!
Of course we could at the end of the day look how much kit we can all get there! The french haven't even had the idea to sell the stuff locally! Wall Mart near Sebring sells everything you may need for the week. And they don't seem to run out! Title: Re: Does anyone think..................................? Post by: Lord Pig-Pen on January 25, 2009, 11:06:36 pm YES!!
I will happily get involved after the shite I have dealt with over the last week. Sounds like a planning meeting is needed. If the agencies can get heaps of tickets then surely we must be able to do it. Further to our current conversation, Lets do it! ;D Title: Re: Does anyone think..................................? Do you think we (CA) could organise it faster and more efficiently? In our eyes, maybe. But in theirs, it has to be easier dealing with a few hundred relatively submissive agents than thousands of stroppy British individuals. Post by: Lazy B'stard on January 26, 2009, 01:33:29 pm Its about time we got our sh*t together and start trying to find a private site I think. Got to be somewhere near by that we can get hold of. Seriously thoughtabout giving it a miss this year. Who is up for making it happen?

- HA-Nord is gone which (according to the TL e-mail) was 1500 pitches. - Technoparc has been closed for now that's 500 pitches easily. - Maison Blanche reduced significantly, it was 800 pitches so say 150 to 200 pitches gone. - Hunaudieres campsite is closed due to construction of the stadium some 200 pitches disappear. So 2000 to 2500 less pitches available when campsite tickets were already in short supply. I foresee many people camping in the various parking lots this year. Do you think we (CA) could organise it faster and more efficiently? Well I think we could. But the idea has been muted a few times before. In the past I think it has fallen down because understandably people have been using a Campsite for many years and not wanted to move. I think it may a better chance this time. It looks like in general CAers have not been offered their preferred campsite site. My plan at the moment is to take the Stand seats they have offered and then take my chance on what campsite I can pick up along the way. t. Sounds intersting - are we talking about trying to be ticket agency and mugging ACO for as many tickets for one particular campsite ? or as Posted by: Dr Sconefinger......LB Quote Its about time we got our sh*t together and start trying to find a private site I think. My only worry is where & how far away from the track would people be prepared to be -I have looked a google maps and realised how much the ACO have got people by the balls. A good question how did/does Lotus 7 club manage it - and at what cost? Title: Re: Does anyone think..................................? Post by: Bas on January 27, 2009, 12:14:11 am are we talking about finding a private plot to call our own? The only way to obtain a plot anywhere near the village is through the ACO (and that plot would be Beausejour) also prices are very very high. A good question how did/does Lotus 7 club manage it - and at what cost? The Lotus club are charging £300 per car and White Rabbit racing were charging 350 euro or so for a spot at their campsite. Obtaining a field for a private campsite will be far away from the centre of the action and getting permits for having a few hundred campers there would be near to impossible. Post by: smokie on January 27, 2009, 12:45:34 am One year Gilles (bless him where is he?) and I visited a field which he had identified and he'd spoken with the owner, with a view to having a CA camp-site. It was just a field, the owners lived opposite. We proposed showers, bogs, courtesy buses etc. Also a mowing and try to flatten out the molehills a bit. The logistics and cost of setting that stuff up for what is really only a small number of people was huge. And,as said above, most people have their preferred camp site and were not willing to move.
The field was ummmm... turn left out of MB, at the roundabout turn left, shortly after going under the bridge it was on the right. That's probably about as close as you will find a suitable private area. BSJ distance... Title: Re: Does anyone think..................................? Given the issues that people are increasingly experiencing, it might be worth pursuing again - but the amount of commitment, organisation, up-front bookings and logisitics needed, problems encountered (e.g TL this year) are seriously large. Post by: Bob U on January 27, 2009, 06:35:21 pm This whole ticket situation has been getting worse for the past four or five years. It is becoming perfectly obvious that, for whatever reason, the ACO doesn't want us there any more, or at least, they want us as far away from their new village as possible. This could partly be due to the increasingly larey behaviour from a lot of Brits, as we have discussed many times in the past. Couple this with the ever increasing incursions into the long established viewing areas and it becomes clear that they are giving preference to corperate parties. After 18 years I am seriously thinking of making this my last Le Mans and saying f**k the lot of them. The race has become more and more boring since Audi competed and I find that I am watching less and less each year. I think that a great weekend could be had at the Silverstone Classic if we all decided to say bollox to the ACO and go there instead. Yes it is Silverstone and yes the facilities are not the best but at least there will be no hassle getting tickets and there would be no need to pay bloodsucker agency prices.

Post by: Mr. Invincible Mou on January 27, 2009, 06:54:45 pm Well, given the proximity of this place, I guess there is probably no chance it would be available, but I always wondered about the green field running down the inside of Houx, just by the tree surrounded Chateau.

Saw this, I wonder who owns it, nice spot next to the house to camp! Need to win the lottery Title: Re: Does anyone think..................................? Post by: Robbo on January 27, 2009, 09:27:25 pm What about the field opposite the entrance to HA Sud and Houx.
I believe there is a Kart shop somewhere there. Normally there is one caravan parked there for LM! Title: Re: Does anyone think..................................? Post by: Lord Pig-Pen on January 28, 2009, 01:27:21 am All looks good but there are areas near the arnage flyover/bridge that for years have had 2 horses in them... all they do is gallop about and be scared by the engine noise of passing cars. They are very soggy looking though..
I will have a look when we are there on Saturday morning Pre Pre race.... Lots of locals have signs offering car parking or camping, as they do on the road between B and BN. leading to Arnage.. most have massive gardens/fields. My French is ok but it would need someone a little better to discuss such matters... PP |
