Title: no works aston's at le sarthe Post by: championaudi on January 10, 2009, 07:19:10 pm :o Mr brabham says no works Aston GT1's at LM this year.......
Aston Martin driver David Brabham does not expect the 2008 GT1-winning team to participate in the Le Mans 24 Hours this year - but confirmed that an LMP1 project is on Aston's agenda. "From what I understand, Aston Martin aren't going back to Le Mans as a factory team with the GT1," he said at the Autosport International Show today. "They might do in LMP1 but I think they're still trying to get that organised. "I've been fortunate to have Aston Martin Racing ask me for several years to be involved in their programme. They haven't rung me this year because there's probably no programme." Maybe they aren't? or maybe they are ,but without brabs ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: no works aston's at le sarthe Post by: geoffd on January 11, 2009, 10:47:35 am Reading between the lines on DSC i reckon we will see a privateer team (Jet Alliance??, Gigawave?) run effectively works DBR9's, and hopefully a LMP1 entry, along with at least 1 GT2 Vantage. So I doubt we will see the final decider between P&M and AMR, sadly
Last Friday the plans for the Subaru WRC team members were being announced to them I understand.... Title: Re: no works aston's at le sarthe Post by: Bentley boy on January 11, 2009, 11:26:34 am The Prodrive stand @ the Autosport show had the GT2 Aston on it. Boy did it look mighty fine :-* :-*

Aston Martin Racing, which is run by the Prodrive organization, has put together a deal to mount a strong Le Mans challenge on the 50th anniversary of its only overall win in the French endurance classic Oh good its public knowledge at last ;D ;D Naughty Fran and Martin....LB got me drunk at the Classic and made me tell all. Anyway it's the second part that bothered me, I'd managed to keep the Aston thing a secret for weeks. You'll have no idea what trouble I'll be in now- they are watching you know! Steve cracked his sump on the way to mine and oiled my drive heavily( all of it) so I had to take him to Horsham so he could go skiiing today...
Cheers for the accomodation and crying laughter Andy! ;D ;D Title: Re: no works aston's at le sarthe Post by: Martini...LB on January 18, 2009, 09:14:31 pm Likewise Fran... don't remember that bit... do I?

Title: Re: no works aston's at le sarthe Post by: Lazy B'stard on January 19, 2009, 06:07:21 am SAAB went on the backburner when our home and the garage went under water I'm affraid. Might look into it this summer once we're back on the level. Will have to see how things pan out. Have just commited to the NESCRO rally championship in our 67 SAAB just to keep my hand in.
As to the Aston thing Mart, if you look at the 'Back from the classic' thread, you almost spilt the beans! Something must have soaked in. ;D Title: Re: no works aston's at le sarthe Post by: Martini...LB on January 19, 2009, 06:19:11 pm SAAB went on the backburner when our home and the garage went under water I'm affraid. And the big secret was Aston will be building a LMP1 car with Lola and running it in Gulf colours because DR was pissed off at not being able to play at F1 for the forseeable, its part of a three year plan to put Gulf back on the podium which they have wanted to do since they got a new head honcho a few years back who likes a spot of motor racing. The Gulf boys really want this, and you know what, I think they could just pull it off. theres plenty of money coming from the Arabs so why not. But just remember that i didn't tell you anything- if you know what I mean ;D Will have to keep you away from the Pastis if you cannot remember a bit of gossip like that!
