Title: Wednesday Practice / Test Session
Post by: clkgtrlm1 on December 15, 2008, 05:16:45 pm
ACO have posted new supplementary regulations following cancellation of the test day.

Looks like 6 hours of action on Wednesday night - but does not say whether official timing will be use as qualifying times, but probably suggest that Thursday timing only will be used

The major change for the 2009 race is the fact that Wednesday’s practice session will not be the first qualifying session as in the past. On 10th June 2009, it will be a free test session extended by an extra 2 hours to enable all the drivers to familiarise themselves with the circuit. From 18h00 to 24h00 the teams invited by the ACO will be able to do both daytime and nighttime testing.
The next day, Thursday 11th June, qualifying practice will take place from 19h00 to 21h00 and from 22h00 to 24h00.

Think this bit explains the format!

Qualifying will be Thursday night only!

So we have to put up with another two hours of noise, it is just not on!

Yes, that is how I have read it.
Could be very exciting as everyone will need to put in a flying lap ASAP on Thursday. If there are any issues - weather or problems on the track like this year, could lead to some very interesting qually times and start positions.

Looking at the LM series timetable for 2009 - we now seem to have two test weekends, one at Ricard in March as usual, and then another one at LM - but after the first race! Wot are they up to?
