Title: Embassy Racing shuts
Post by: Rhino on September 26, 2008, 03:15:46 pm
Embassy racing has closed down. They lost a backer meaning lots of money owed. Shame they were looking at making a coupe version of the LMP2 car next season.

Where did you here that?  They only have one backer Jonathan France!

Well,  it's official now, Embassy have formally announced the closure of the LMS team, closely followed by the team.
Bad news allround  for the crew and drivers.

I don't think the LMS will be getting capacity grids next year some how....

S'funny, I thought they ran a Lola based car and shut down thirty odd years ago after Graham Hill died ???

I'm in shock, I can't believe the news. Embassy are (sorry where) my local team as there workshop is only a mile up the road from where I am sat right now. I have meet Jonathan France many times over the last few years and I know that he had big plans for Embassy Racing over the next few years. Hopefully this is just a blip and we will see them back at some point in the future.

More bad news.

The Charouz Lola Aston LMP project seems to be dead. Both cars are either sold or are for Sale without the Aston Motors.

Charouz themselves plan to carry on another chassis engine combo. Maybe Dome?

It is possible that Aston may pick up the project themselves, but given the woeful amount of road cars being sold I very much doubt it and they are now saying a P1 Aston wont appear until 2011.

MG has also gone from the RML/Newton Lola, but been replaced with Mazda. which is goodish news.

Other good news Racing Box have brought 2 Lola Coupe's for P2, no mention of what engines and former Force India team manager Colin Kolles is reported to be running 'something with an Audi engine.

I am bitterly disappointed by this thread. I thought it said "Embassy Racing sluts".

What a let-down.

I was talking to a local Aston Dealer and they havent sold a car this month. They also do Jag and havent sold one of those either.

things are a little desperate for some.

Rollcentre have put their Pesca up for sale, predictable I suppose given their main source of sponsorship but a great shame, anyone know any more about the situation there?

As far as i know there are three options, 1) Raise the sponsorship to run the car, 2) Sell the car to someone, or 3) sell the car to someone who wants them to run it. All rather obvious i know!

Rollcentre will continue with the Mosler side of things and the race equipment sales plus a few other projects, they are not dependant on a LMP project to survive!

I missed the news that Rollcentre has put the Pesca up for sale. Where was this reported? Can anyone post a link?

Hopefully if they can keep going on their other projects we'll see them back at LM in the future.
