Title: Bored.....
Post by: Lazy B'stard on August 01, 2008, 05:03:42 pm
Stuck at work, all my jobs for the week done, bored shitless and don't fancy going home to get nagged by the wife yet. Was hoping CA would be my salvation this afternoon but no one here. It's actually been very quiet of late; I know it always gets a little less lively after June but seems moreso this year. Where is everyone? Don't tell me you've all suddenly got a life? Or is everyone over at DfH?
Talk to me pleeeease!

Still around, just watching the clock for the next 90 mins before home time.

It has been quite around here for the last few weeks, I guess people are on holiday etc.

Ah- holidays. I remember those, very nice but never lasted long enough. Bit like sex then- I remember that too. ;D

Hi
You could have been busying yourself fixing the wife's car... :o

Tis almost fixed my friend, (original) engine back in, needs the rad fitting and a few hoses re-connecting and thats it. There is also the small matter of repainting the bonnet after it accidentaly fell over during one of my car fixing temper tantrums.  Then it's the old 'should it stay or should it go now' debate to go through (the car that is, not the wife)
Anyway, how is Jersey on this fine eve Martin? Trust you are in fine fettle with Pastis in hand;D

I'm sitting here with a nice Cabernet while the dinner is cooking - chefs perks  ;D

Haven't seen a pair of my trousers since last week last Monday, shorts and Tshirt everyday.

I'm getting very used to this semi-retirement lark. Take the old Triumph out in the morning for a nice little run, walk down the pub at lunchtime, walk along the beech on the way back home and then pour a nice wine ;D

Leftie - glad you did the tree walk before you had the wine - safer that way   ::) ::)

Sounds like life is pretty good for Leftie right now- if only he had a real sports car :o

Del, I thought Martin came from Jersey- he got rather animated every time it was mentioned at the classic!
;D

It's been a bit hectic down at Chateau Brun of late, so I apologise for my low profile.
I've been sorting out the replacement vehicle for Mrs B's written off Trans Am.

The new car is red and it's got a 5.7 litre V8  ;D

Hi Randy,

Try Emsworth, Hampshire. UK.

The best village on the south coast.

Bored - too right. cant do anything and my hands still broke. And all the kids are on holiday whichin an inner city like portsmouth is hell.

Why cant they just play at home, their home, not my front door step.....

Why do you think we moved from Leigh Park in the late 60's. Even frigging worse now.

Hope your hand gets better soon mate.

So Mr Brown, what is the better half driving round in now? There is something cool about instaling the wife in something big and V8 powered- makes them more alluring. They just have to remember to check the oil and water occasionally! Mrs S is looking forward to getting 'her' Interceptor back which is surprising considering she doesn't normally in for the old stuff- she hated the Mustang and is frightened of the Alfa. I may have a fight on my hands should I decide to sell.

I know he's a Gurnsey dweller- I just like the way he changes colour when you say t'other.
'thats a nice JERSEY you're wearing Martin' is a particular favourite method of inducing a rant.

It's Australian and begins with 'M'.

  >:D  A Monaro?? >:D

I had the cousin of Al Simonssen, the Aussi guy who drove the Lola Mazda at Le Mans down the workshop last week in his Holden GTR/S. He was sulking after spending £1,200 having the front brake rotors replaced again. He says it eats its brakes even though they were 15 inches in diameter and it's the third set it has used in two years. He then went on to tell me about chasing a Ferrari Enzo down on a German autobahn last summer at 190mph (at a rather lazy 4500rpm!). Bullsh*t I said- he then threw me the keys. Man, those things are fecking serious! I now believe him when he says it packs 565BHP and those brakes? try 100mph to a standstill in 36 metres! :o :o :o

 What a car. f**king epic!

Hi Si,
Well done with the progress on the car. Are you gonna save for one of the above then?
Jersey Guernsey is fine, how is Lancashire?  ;D

Just bought the top of the range Pentx so I am going to have to get off my lazy A get get snapping.

See ya

Typical city mentality mate. Try London, I have, it' even worse the pompey.

Live here and it's a different world, tranquil to a certain extent. If you lot could control the speed of the drivers on the A259 it would be even better.

Nah, not for me, too reliable and too modern. Not sure what to go for next, Westfield XI with a supercharged 998cc seems to be favourite on my list at moment but have been hankering after a 289 Cobra for a few years now. God knows. Got the house to sort out first and the Alfa needs paint, the new motor instaling, axle needs a rebuild with extra plates in the diff, brakes are still poor etc. so will probably next year before anything new arrives.
Anyway I have to get over to Sweden before the weather turns to find me a SAAB 93b :D :D :D :D

I love the Westfield XI but I'd go for the 1275 engine or even the 1330 with all the fast bits.....Oh I've got one of those going in the Frogeye next weekend ;D ;D ;D

Also I can't get on to CA from my work computer any more so only visit in the evenings these days

A mate hillclimbs an ex-miglia mini and has a spare full race 1360cc motor with all steel internals that would be fun. I just fancy that supercharger whine though 8)

Does it have a straight cut 'box as well?

The whining noise is piercing :D

Yup, Mr Jack Knight's finest, very loud but shifts like lightening. It's a very nice car, the standard of preparation would put many a works outfit to shame and its a hoot to drive. We took it to Croft a few weeks back to shake it down after its rebuild and it was more or less perfect straight out of the box. Planning to double enter it later in the year- haven't done any hillclimbing for years and really looking forward to it. Suppose I'll have to let its owner go quicker to save a walk home though!

My Dad had a supercharged frogeye - Sold it when I came along - go for the supercharger Si - I heard from him you wont be able to change gear fast enough to keep up with the engine revs!  (wishful thinking)

I had a 1340 Oselli powered cooper way back........

Speeding, clocked, sharpe left hander, little old lady, lamp post, write off, ambulance, arrest and finally court. Oh, forgot to mention 12month ban :(

0-60 god knows but top speed was about 110mph, it just got there very quickly. :D
