Have a fab time if you are going, I shan't be in the slightest bit jealous...I bet the bleeding sun will shine this year as well, we've had a wet week in Spa for the last four or five (or does it just seem that way!).  

Your memory does not fail you - I have never been to Spa when it was dry.  Maybe it's me who should stay away?

We can't afford it either but it's our only holiday together so we've decided to give the cards a bashing and suffer the consequences later! ::)

Whilst I'd be sorry if if this were to happen, have you considered what would happen to the things you treasure most? I think this kind of rules out my selling you the Commer.  :(

Firstly, and here I speak from painful personal experience - because you'll have no money left anyway, even for essentials like Alfas and Commers. It'll be hello cardboard city! A damp bedsit in Blackhall Colliery will seem a distant dream.

Secondly, the poor van would end up in the possession of your old dragon. What woman would be able to resist the charms of a Commer in the alimony negotiations? Any good barrister knows custody of a Commer can be used as a very effective legal lever. Next thing you know you'd be shot dead dressed as Batman on the roof of 10 Downing Street in a Commer Owners For Justice stunt gone bad.

I think it's best all round if she stays here a while longer till things are a bit clearer.

If you've never been to Spa then you should do it at least once.  The atmosphere at the 24 hours is superb and the circuit stunning.  No pesky prototypes getting in the way either.... >:D

I will probably show up sometime during the weekend, it is afterall only a 30 min. drive, so I have no excuse not going.  @ buddha, It is a fun event, more low key than Le Mans, but there is a good vibe around the track, also gets quit busy round the track. Camping site seem to be plentyfull, but if you are early enough wit booking their is this nice little hostel not far from the track.

Well Spa might be a click nearer now Andy- the divorce looms ever closer. Dragon wife blew the engine up on 'her' Interceptor last night. Quote 'its been sounding poorly since you went to France and that little red light has been on for weeks'

Its such a big lump and a bugger to get in and out- i still awake screaming in the night thinking about when we put it in. Shame, it was a real cooking motor too- a tweeked 440 R/T motor out of a mate's crashed Charger- it jumped off the rollers twice before the guy running the rolling road gave up on it. >:D
 Had a look at it this evening and it's seized solid, oil everywhere :'( :'( We've just spent a fortune getting the paint and the repairs done after the MOT monkey ripped off the door. It got new suspension, stainless exhausts, new rubbers and re-furbed wheels and new pirellis in the last few months too. So it looks like a full engine rebuild and a gearbox rebuild whilst its out to pay for now. Not a happy bunny tonight :(

It's a helter-skelter life, full of ups and downs, but if you're both not happy at the moment, and it can't be fixed, then IMO it's worth seeing it through to the bitter conclusion.

Still, you've got your friends and you'll live...  ;)

An inconvenient meeting for next Thursday has just been cancelled, so I've taken opportunity to take holiday leave from Thursday afternoon to Monday, but the Eau Rouge campsite at Stavelot, where I've stayed the last 2 years, is fully booked.  Does anyone have any good ideas as to where to stay?  If not, we'll have to pitch tent in one of the car parks.

There's usually lots of room on the meadows up at Les Combes. And the price is ok as well (8 Euros for car and tent if I remember correctly).

Thanks - I've seen tents there.  I'll just have to do without the showers at Eau Rouge and take the opportunity to exercise my German.

Having stayed at both Eau Rouge and the sites around the circuit, I'd say you're better off (certainly financially) at the sites around the circuit.  But avoid like the plague the one behind the bar/hotel in Francorchamps as the 8€ is a myth - they charge you that per day, and once for the car and once for the tent (double for a "large" tent).  A total rip-off.  Their ruse is to tell you to park and pitch your tent and by then it's too late for you to argue about the price!  They do have showers and electricity but that's extra too.  Humph.

I liked Eau Rouge campsite, sitting in the corner under the trees with the river behind you, beautiful. The friendly little bar, pleasant surroundings, even the chavs were polite.

Unfortunately I, and my brother, enjoyed Eau Rouge campsite too much... was there a race on?

We did see some but it rained a fair bit on the race weekend, I think, which did not warrant too much movement.

It's a good little campsite, eau rouge, except if you are on the family part of it, the owner started complaining about the noise at 6 pm, cause we were laughing to loud. So we were wise enought to take our beer just outside the campsite and sit at the lovely little stream to get drunk and be as loud as we wanted! All in all not to bad at all, just af fair hike to the circuit!

Don't get me wrong, it's not that we didn't like Eau Rouge, simply that it was too d*mned far from the circuit so we missed more of the race than I'd like in getting back and forth.  We'll be back to our original spot this year where we could see the circuit from the tent. :)

Perfectly possible, I would have thought.  It's a steep old hill so will keep you fit (and happily downhill on the way back so it's the right way round.)

The Eau Rouge website says something along the lines of "within walking distance of the circuit for the fit" which most definitely excludes Team Muz  ::)

And 95% of the other CA regulars. ;D

I don't resent the walk, just the racing time missed whilst doing it (if I see fewer than 20 hours of a 24 hour race I feel I've been diddled!)  A bike would seem the best solution to me.

Don't know if you can enter the track at stavelot, but if you can it will only be about 5 minutes by bike. You can take the bike onto the circuit, which makes it a lot faster to get to the paddock from stavelot. If you cannot enter at stavelot, you have to take the long way round, be carefull, people tend to drive like idiots there, cause it is the old track. So if you bike back at night, make sure you wear reflective clothing and make sure the lights on the bikes are in working order.

You can access the circuit at the Stavelot corner, so it's easy from there.  There's also car parking on the side of the road.  But it's still a long way from the paddock on foot.  ;)

You can access the track at Stavelot but YOU CANNOT BUY TICKETS THERE! If you have not collected or had tickets sent you will need to go to the main entrance.

This is true.  And what is more, even tickets via the post have to be exchanged for wristbands so you need to get to the main entrance to do this.  Not a problem on the Thursday though from what I remember from last year.

If you're there for qualifying, you need to go to the main entrance twice, then, as you don't get your wristbands until Saturday.

Are we going to meet?  Same place as last year - at the bar half way up Radillion?  We're setting off first thing in the morning so we'll just be at the bar at 9pm on Saturday and if others are around then great.
