Title: Saturday 5th July - Lager Fest - Basingstoke
Post by: jpchenet on June 23, 2008, 10:36:34 am
Several members of the forum have visited the annual beer (real ale) festival that I help organise in Basingstoke every September. This will be taking place again this year and coincides with the Silverstone LMS round so a little back and forth visiting may be the order of the weekend!

This year, we are hosting our first Lager Festival on Saturday 5th July from 7pm to 11pm at Hatch Warren Community Centre, Longcross Lane, Hatch warren, Basingstoke, RG22 4XF

25 different bottled lagers from around the world, from Australia to Jamaica, From Belgium to China. (We've even sneaked Leffe Blond in to entice Steve B down!!)

Entrance is £6 per person and includes a commemorative glass and your first drink. There will also be a live band.

Beers will range from £1.50 to £2.50 per bottle.

My driveway will be available for camper vans, my garden will be availble to pitch tents, or air mattresses on the garage floor.

Hope to see some of you there!!

I'm supposed to be going to a 'thank god it's all over' night with the girls from college that night.  Given my brother will be over from NZ and I think he should have the opportunity to meet at least some of the people I spend my fun time with I may well attend this instead.

Mark - was I hearing things or did you mention cider when we were talking about this on Sat night?

Dx

You are of course quite right!!!!

There will be some cider available for those that don't drink lager. And wine and soft drinks!

Not sure yet whether the cider will be bottled or barrelled!

Can you get some of that half a pint and you're over the limit stuff you had at last year's beer festival?  That was delicious!  ;D

If we can get the barrels from WTBS then that's the route we are going to take. If so, then the 8% Biddendens is a must!!!  ;D

Superb evening had by all! ;D
Great selection of drinks at a very reasonable price, we managed to do £80 between 4 of us ;D
Many thanks to Mark and Linda for the Fest, food, booze and accomodation.

It was very cosy in the garage with Me, Claire, Steve Z, Brad, Doris and Alan? (Doris's Brother) and Poppy Z! Somewhat unconventional sleeping arrangements evolved but were jolly good fun!

Glad it was such a success and count us in for next year (If we will be invited again!?)

Brad wins the Volume trophy, both for general performance and snoring. The Pitta gag worked for a short while!

Pics to follow.

BLX.
I missed this thread and am now peed orfffff.

Was booked in to Goodwood Sunday but pulled out due to weather. Should have gone to this in hindsight and slept under a tree.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORTH IT.

Apologies to  anyone who was in the general vicinity of Basingstoke, whom I may have awoken, or kept awake both with general loudness (for loudness read drunkeness) and snoring....rest assured I am paying the price right now.....

It couldn't have been any worse than Canada Phil on Sunday night at LM. It was like sharing a tent with a couple of rutting moose. I had to spend an uncomfortable night sleeping in my car.

Thanks Mark!

Thoroughly bloody good night had by all I think, even if we didn't get to try all the lagers (not for want of trying I might add) before they started running out - it's probably a good job there wasn't a larger CA contingent there! Fine band and fine company, what more could you want?

Doris, go to the naughty tent!  :police:

Mark,

Had a really good night, thanks for the invite, sorry about the racket that my drunken alter ego seems to make. I've been told to bring a gag to Vicky's to avoid a repeat performance....if Rex sorts his camera out properly, I'm sure the pitta gag will make its way on here...

Errrgh it's Monday, and I still feel hungover..... ::)

I didn't want to.............Brad wanted the two of us to do it together so he spoke to the band.

Then he dropped out 'coz they didn't have the words!  ::)

Great Night!!  Even if I was busy with the organising of it for most of the evening as some of the volunteers didn't turn up!  :(

Still, I made up for it during the last hour, whilst tidying up, and then back at my place!  ;D

Brad definately looked very broken on Sunday morning. Did you get a photo Rex?

And it's surprising how well you can gag someone with a Pitta bread!!  ;D

I hope to see you all back for the real ale festival in September (quite how we'll work logistics with Silverstone LMS is yet to be finalised!)

Brad, any news on your ring?

Have you checked you house insurance yet??
