Did you not notice the huge signs saying that there was a camera ahead?
Usually you will be summoned to a court in France and if you do not turn up, your car will be taken to the French Embassy compound in London and you will have to pay around £5K to get it back.

Kev, this is a wind-up, right. ;D
Well, I hope so.

Whatever, although Europe has been banging on about co-ordinating all this stuff for several years now, it still has not happened as, as ever, they can't get their computers etc to talk to each other.  And they wonder why the Lisbon agreement is unpopular. ::)

Nowt to worry about at present but it may come one day.

If it is of any help, we usually have one Ski trip a year in which we drive.

Last year on our way to Livigno (It), via France and Switzerland our driver was flashed twice in France, and this year on the way down to Val D'Isere, he was again flashed twice. To date he has not had any communication for any of the flashes.

I'm sure it will come eventually, but at the moment it seems that you are safe.

Always amazes me to see Brit motorists ignore the mandatory speed limits at the exit slip roads, must be as rich as creosote, the way they blast past the camera guys...

 ???

I have always want to put a stobe light in the front grill of my car, so when some I know goes past me at high speed, you can use the strobe and flash them. All they will see is a sudden flash and not know where it came from. Great way to confuse people!

May be a bit to evil   >:D - but fun - where's Kev?

There will not be any headway on the French and other European Countries getting your details soon.

The UK Government and its agency - DVLA point blankly refuse access, and i'm led to believe, never will. It would be too open to abuse by people the DVLA and UK laws cant control.

Word of warning though.

If... you drive the same car for a few years, you WILL be on their computerised records and they CAN take you in to review the photo's, all of which are rear facing i believe......

ALWAYS keep the vehile standard and you cant go far wrong...

Does that help ??

I average 3 cameras there and anoter 3 back to the Alps for my snowboard trip...

Its the manned cameras you need to be very scared off. The french hate them and will flash at you if your being "aggresive" with the throttle. It works the same way to assist them.

i MUST REMIND YOU THAT SPEED KILLS AND YOU SHOULDN'T BREAK THE LAW. DRIVE TO THE CONDITIONS WITHIN YOURS AND THE VEHICLES DESIGNED ABILITIES....

I was one of the many caught between Alencon and Sees during the return trip on Monday at about 10.30am.  Lovely stretch of new dual carriageway begging for it!.  They clocked me at 168 Kph - didn't see the camera (hand held in the bushes).  Pulled in by a bike cop at the end of the carriageway into a comandered yard - plenty of parking.  I was told that I could no longer drive in France and had my License confiscated.  The gendarme asked if my son had a license - I replied no, he's only 17 (min age 18 for driving in France, so no insurance and has the car is a DB9 there is no f**k*ng way he was going to drive it.  He then told me that the fine was 750 euros (£630).  I didn't have that much on me so he said I could drive the car to the nearest cashpoint providing I let him have my Passport.  On my return from the cashpoint my son told me that me they had done another six while I was away (15 mins) and there were 4 more in the queue to pay after me.  Once I had displayed enough remorse and parted with the cash the kind gendarme allowed me to continue drivng but kept my license.  My license was posted back to me within 5 day with no points but I received a ban from driving in France for 6 weeks - shame!

I told the gendare that he would be busy that day what with all the ENGLISH going home.  He replied that it wasn't just the English and that they had been there all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  When he took out an envelope stuffed full of euros I remarked that they should be careful that they did't get mugged and I wished him a 'bonne vacance' when I handed the cash over - which raised a chuckle from his chums.

I then proceeded on my way with the cruise control set to 110 kph - thereby saving a sh*t load on petrol up to Cherbourg.

I was wondering, what with modern technology, whether there was some way of fore-warning fellow brits of such nasties - perhaps by text etc - I'm sure one of you techies out there could think of something!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS
I've had the ticket framed

PPS
We had the last laugh - stopped for a coffee half hour up the road and one of my friends who was pulled in with me produced a bunch of keys from his pocket - 'LOOK WHAT I'VE GOT' he said.
'WHAT'S THAT' I enquired.
'THE BIKE COPS KEYS' he replied
