Title: Drugs
Post by: nickliv on April 15, 2008, 05:48:19 pm
Which country does the best headache pills?

Because the ones in the UK are not capable of shifting my monumental hangovers for at least 2 days, and at LM that somply won't do.

The best thing i find to stop a hangover is to take 2 paracetamol and down a pint of water last thing after a heavy night on the juice  ::)

If you are sober enough to remember to do that you won't get a hangover anyway!

Ask JDS! His wife gave me a painkiller last november at the DFH/ CA Lemans afterparty. It did the trick real quick!! Don't know which brand, but I know they were Morfine based ;D

Once was married to a doctor and she gave me the following advice:

1 Glas of fresh orange juice - 2 teaspoons of salt in it - mix it - drink it BEFORE you go to sleep.

It's basically the loss of salt and acid which gives you the hangover - so fill both up

Worked always fine with me. One variation is Tequila with lime and salt - similar principle but not sooo effective ;D ;D

With some of us, it happens more regularly than once a year but the symtons are the same.

Allowing too much blood into the alchohol stream causes this.

Options:

A, Drink more alchohol or,

B, Before going to bed drink 1/2 to 1 pint of water.

Either always works for me.

Surely the hangover comes when you wake up, so when at LM just don't sleep. Leave the hangover till you get back.

Also hangovers don't happen on holiday, or is it just me........famous last words  :-X

The best way I find not to get a hangover, is just drink JD & Coke only, I get very pissed but no hangover. This can be quite difficult though as there is usually a lot of LOW FLYERS around in are camp at night, which don't help the hangovers, as some of you know. >:D

Our team uses this stuff: http://www.scienceinsport.com/go.htm
Helps to recover and helps when it is f*ckin' hot (hopefully) too!!

Used for Tour de France cyclists, Premiership footballers and overweight , drunk LM goers!!
I'm surprised we are not on their website!!

Not so much a cure... but a way to see daylight while not really remembering where the darkness went... mix liberally with Raspberry Absolute or any other favoured or flavoured spirit.http://www.gofastsports.com/

A firm fave after go karting in Rotterdam when a number of us needed a perk up..

Try it!!

I subscribe to the "make it all one colour theory"

i.e. blond beer [stella of course] and white white

That way avoid hangover

ish....

Has anybody heard or tried this -

RU-21

Quote
Antipokhmelin is a Russian tablet that helps to prevent or overcome the negative effects of alcohol consumption and hangover. The main ingredient is succinic acid, also found in amber. It is marketed as RU-21 in the US and UK. Claims of effectiveness are based primarily on anecdotal evidence, and there have been no known placebo controlled double blind studies published in peer reviewed scientific journals.

RU-21 was developed by Prof. Eugene Mayevski at the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Biophysics (division of the Russian Academy of Sciences), where the product was also clinically tested. Further tests were conducted at the Russian Ministry of Public Health. The tests confirmed the effects of RU-21 on the body's ability to metabolize alcohol. The legend behind the product's history attributes the development of RU-21 to the KGB. An urban legend surrounding RU-21 is that KGB operatives sought a chemical compound that would allow them to drink heavily with suspected Western intelligence agents, in the Soviet Union or the West, and not get drunk. At the same time, according to the legend, the Western agent would become intoxicated and (hopefully) reveal secrets to the KGB agent, who would simply be pretending to be drunk and in fact be perfectly lucid. The legend states that while this did not work, KGB agents discovered that the tablet did have an unpredicted side-effect; the apparent ability to lessen a hangover. While there is some truth to this legend (the KGB did conduct some alcohol-related tests involving key ingredients in RU-21, most notably the succinic acid), KGB has no role in commercializing this product.

Sounds good for hangovers, but does it work?

The problem with Ru21 is you have to take a tablet with each drink for it to work. Friend had some, gave up after a few pints.

Tried it... no real help, maybe the test was a little heavy for it but thumbs down from me.
Berocca is the best.... apart from a massive bloody mary for breakfast, Grey Goose vodka, thick Tommy Juice, fine black pepper, celery salt, worcester sauce and a tiny blob of Mad dog 357 hot sauce. Squeezed slice of lemon to finish.
Heaven after hell ;D
not if you are driving obviously ;)
