Title: CA Web site problems. Post by: Lawnmower Man on July 11, 2003, 10:10:41 pm I have a gripe about the web site. It only works with MSIE as far as I can tell. Well its the menu bar that doesn't work in netscape and other brosers. If I sort out what is wrong with the front page will you make the changes required Dave?
It's a reall pain for me, it mean, I have to use my GFs computer to read the forum. My own system runs Linux and so MSIE is not an option for me. Regards, Tom. Title: Re:CA Web site problems. Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on July 13, 2003, 11:32:30 pm MSIE is unfortunately by far the most prolifick(sp.?) browser out there, and the stats for Dreamracers are that only about 3-4% are Netscape or some form of Mozilla browser, I used to test in Netscape, but just dont bother now.
Title: Re:CA Web site problems. Post by: ChrisConsidine on July 14, 2003, 03:58:05 pm Dreamracers- you hit it right on the nail.
Rest assured, we will work on cross-browser compliance after we put up our 2003 coverage. Title: Re:CA Web site problems. Post by: Lawnmower Man on July 14, 2003, 06:41:59 pm Dreamracer, I know MSIE is he most prolific browser. But as I say
I normal use a Linux system and so MSIE is not an option. I have good reasons to use Linux but that discussion is outside the scope of this forum. Thats why I asked If I find out why it fails in Netscape could the fix be incorporated. The downside if it not working in Netscrape and other None MSIE browsers is that menu bar dos not show up, so I had no idea that any of that stuff was there I only discovered it coz I happened to be using my GFs system one day. ChrisConsidine, That would be good. Title: Re:CA Web site problems. Post by: Ruptured Duck Motorsport on July 14, 2003, 06:46:21 pm I not disputing that there are far better browsers out there than IE, infact, almost anyhting non-MS normally seems to be far better. Not wanting to get into a IE/NS arguement as I know NS is better, infact Mozilla is preferred. All I was saying is that as far as my own site goes, I havent got the spare extra time to test other browsers, but when DR gets sponsored and someone wants to pay me, sure I will! ;D
Title: Re:CA Web site problems. Post by: Gilles on July 14, 2003, 07:10:56 pm STOP !!!!
We gonna talk further about software only when one of these companies will sponsored either a LM car or the CA team !!! Title: Re:CA Web site problems. I think I saw MS on a car ;D Title: Re:CA Web site problems. Post by: ChrisConsidine on July 14, 2003, 08:56:07 pm On a somewhat unrelated topic, I find it really interesting that so many top level Microsoft execs are absolutely gaga over racing but they never put two and two together and sponsor anything in the racing industry. It has to be a profitable venture if Sony and HP/Compaq repeatedly throw billions into it. Maybe they figure that they have so much of a monopoly in their area that they don't need to.
Just some food for thought from your friendly web master. 8) Title: Re:CA Web site problems. Post by: Steve Pyro on July 14, 2003, 09:03:01 pm My wife works for Microsoft (honest) and she drives her car like shes on a race track.
She's going to a conference in the States next week but I don't suppose the topic of race team sponsorship will be mentioned ! Title: Re:CA Web site problems. Anyway, all the hot ladies on IRC chat assume I'm from the Canadian mounted police, which (who) are known as Smokies. Who am I to put them right? One of the fattest people I know was recently recruited by MS and he smokes. How he passed the medical I don't know. And anyway, I'm thinking about stopping smoking. Does that count? :) Title: Re:CA Web site problems. Post by: Steve Pyro on July 15, 2003, 07:32:42 pm One of the fattest people I know was recently recruited by MS and he smokes. Post by: Lawnmower Man on May 14, 2004, 02:50:25 pm Just a quick note to say that I notice that CA Site now works with the Mozilla browsers. I'm not sure it that is because the website has been fixed or if Mozilla is now fixed.
Anyway Thanks to whoever fixed it. Title: Re:CA Web site problems. Post by: Werner on May 14, 2004, 09:22:53 pm In case you've got browser problems try Opera. The ad-sponsered version is for free (download www.opera.com), its much quicker than MSIE and Netscape and there are versions available for many os: windows, linux, solaris, beos, even os/2. Any website which sticks to the standards runs fine within Opera
