Title: Fot those not going in June......
Post by: Christopher on March 03, 2008, 01:16:25 pm

From Autosport.......

Live TV coverage returns to Eurosport

Live television coverage of the Le Mans 24 Hours will return to Eurosport this year after the broadcaster signed a three-year agreement with Le Mans organisers the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO).

Eurosport has won back the rights to live coverage from Motors TV and will show the race in its entirety on the Eurosport and Eurosport 2 channels.

There will also be live streaming of the race, with commentary, on Eurosport's websites across Europe.

Eurosport will also show all five Le Mans Series 1,000km events during the season.
The deal will bring live coverage of the 24 Hours to 112 million homes in 59 European countries.

Eurosport Asia-Pacific will also show non-stop live coverage of the race in Asia and Australia.

As a non starter for this years race, this is very good news for me. But I will need to be convinced that Eurosport can devote that much time to one sport without cutting away to some Tennis highlights or the International Beach Volley Ball.

I think what Motors TV did over the last two years was great, and I think they have shown the ACO how it can be done, and this is what has forced Eurosport to give it such a high profile.  Well done Motors TV and thanks for your efforts. Sorry you lost out in the end.

I'm sceptical about their abilities as well.

Given their absolute inability to keep to any sort of schedule and to start/stop segments on time, if they are switching their coverage between Eurosport 1 & 2 then I'd expect to record an awful lot of beach volleyball where the sessions don't run correctly....

Motors have done a great job of their coverage with a small budget, do we really think that Eurosport would be offering comprehensive, live coverage if they weren't competing with Motors for the deal?
