Is that a 'Four Sprung Duck Techique?

Lovely motor, and in exceptionally good shape.

Best track was Child in Time

Not on 'Wish You Were Here' it wasn't ;D

Am I missing something or are you mixing up your 'Purple' with your 'Pink'? ???

....anyway.....in a half-ar$ed attempt to keep the picture association going I'll post this......and I've got a bet on with myself as to where it goes next!!!

And at least my marque won it's class at LM using real fuel.

Out of interest (and with no regard for the general idea of this thread  ;D ) how much would one of those go for?

£3k would buy you a lot of work
£4-6k would buy a 10-valver that needed slight tidying.
£6 - 10k would buy a very very good / mint 10 -valver.
£20k would buy a mint 20-valver from someone who wanted every last penny from the sale.

These prices , like all classics, do vary.

It is a minefield......if you really fancy one get on the owners forum and see what the pro's and cons are and what to look for.

Then see the bank manager and insert smile on face. ;D

Not yet got round to finishing off with the stripes, badges and rings. In fact I may leave them off for a bit!! They may be on for Le Mans, not sure yet, I'll see if it needs them or not.
Is the paint on yours a standard colour Leftie. It looks superb, what year is it, mines an '84 done 220k miles only !!

Only one thing to say to you guys,

GITS ! (Lucky Gits!)

One, day, one day, I will finally have one of those sat on my drive !

Not quite the same but i can kinda relate to the bare metal restoration job. Currently building a 1/24th model of the Audi R8 road car and messed up the paint job this afternoon. Just spent several hours stripping it down back to bare plastic again for another go at painting it. Total ball ache and time consuming.

Gordon, fabulous motor mate, I'm jealous.

BTW, the red one is not mine (I wish).

Gordon,
That 1984 WR belongs to 'Wor Kid'.
It done about 62k but hasn't really done any serious miles in quite a few years since it was repainted in a (like yours) glass-out back to metal respray.
Stays in the garage, gets a run around the estate once in a while if it's lucky. He's fortunate enough to have 'other toys'.
The paint colour is genuine VW/Audi although not a colour ever used on the Quattro.

Happy to help.

Gordon, that is one mean car and I'm very jealous. Only a word like, but I'm not sure you'll get through an MOT test with those number plates. They've got very hot on having the correct font, as indeed have the police round here. Those plates are a guarantee tug from the BiB in Brighton.

They seem to pass you where we live Andy as me and my friend passed with German style pressed plates but the Police don’t seem to care about that fact!

Cheers Andy, I have another set that I used at MOT time but I know what you mean! As Kev said they don't seem to bothered round here but time will tell.
Cheers for the comments, it's taken a lot of hard work to reach that condition and at times I felt like giving up especially when all you do is cut loads of rotten metal out for ages !!

Number plates  - Operation Larch

Who comes up with these stupid names? And they get paid for it as well

North Wales Police will be taking part in a nationwide crackdown on illegal number plates, following concern at the growing use of unlawful registration plates.

Operation Larch is a week-long national campaign and starts today (Monday, the 28th of January). The operation is aimed at stepping up enforcement of current regulations by targeting motor vehicles with misrepresented plates.

The seven-day operation will aim to:

• Identify any links between the use of misrepresented registration marks and criminality

Provide suitable evidence to justify changes to penalty levels for related offences and
• Maximise the disruption of criminal activities and reduce crime levels.

No 2. Thats great more reasons to be fined!

We are the 'soft option' for gaining 'Target Quotas' I am led to believe.

However, there are plates out there that are unreadable.

I would suggest to our 'Boys in Blue' to target plates that have PL, LT and ES on them as they are more probable unlisensed even in their country and therefore uninsured.

for the best. i got away with it for 9 months then i got stopped outside my house and told to change them. i then got a letter off the DVLA 3 months later saying if i commit any offense for illegal number plates again they will revoke my reg plate and put the car on a Q plate!!  :o

mattys Rado you saw on Saturday has has his plates on for over a year now and has one just put the front one on for the MOT, before it was in the window and no one battered a eye lid  ::)  ::)

Now not being from the UK could anybody tell me what a Q plate is?

Also why on earth would you want to put plates with a different font on your car, now I understand the importance of fonts in mail, advertising etc but ones license plate  ???

Vehicles are assigned “Q” prefix registration numbers to draw attention to the fact that their origins or age are uncertain. “Q” numbers are therefore non-transferable and must remain with the vehicle unless documentary evidence which confirms its origins/age comes to light.
