Title: Arnage - Friday afternoon. Post by: Nobby Diesel on February 07, 2008, 01:46:08 pm Is it worth a visit to Arnage village on Friday afternoon?
Maybe a spot of lunch and a cheeky half? Anyone got any photos of the set up there? Title: Re: Arnage - Friday afternoon. Post by: geoffd on February 07, 2008, 01:56:31 pm Not sure I can make it tomorrow, its a bit short notice. ???
Should be able to make June or July though. ;D Title: Re: Arnage - Friday afternoon. Post by: mgmark on February 07, 2008, 02:45:49 pm Well worth going to watch nice cars and fun and games. We normally get there late afternoon, stay for a while to have some food and beer, and then move on to DfH before Arnage starts getting too stupid or dangerous.

We are probably going again this year as it makes a nice change from campsite imprisonment. Title: Re: Arnage - Friday afternoon. Post by: DelBoy on February 07, 2008, 04:10:35 pm Disgusting place to go - see link at bottom.
Not showing it directly as they would be deleted by the Mods Del Title: Re: Arnage - Friday afternoon. Post by: Robspot on February 07, 2008, 04:35:06 pm But YOU still have the picture I see ::)

Title: Re: Arnage - Friday afternoon. Post by: Leftie on February 07, 2008, 07:07:20 pm If you must visit Arnage, don't make it the Friday after 8pm.
The CRS are out in force and they do not take 'prisoners'. Summary justice only and that is very painfull and you'll probably miss the race. Tuesday to Thursday is OK. Some very nice food available. Not enough time at the mo to tell about 'Le Cafe de la Gare'. Another time. Title: Re: Arnage - Friday afternoon. Post by: DelBoy on February 07, 2008, 07:15:20 pm Mr Delboy, knicking pics off The Brethren website, ::) Is that where they came from?? I know I have some of my own (I Know, I WAS that cricket bag!!) but these were the first I These 'guys' were from an outfit called the checkmates - havn't seen them for a few years. Post by: Paddy_NL on February 07, 2008, 07:15:49 pm Never been to Arnage on a Friday (hell, last time I actually went to Arnage was 2004!) as we're too busy preparing for "that what MGMark was saying".
By the looks of those pics it seems we didn't miss much :-\ Title: Re: Arnage - Friday afternoon. Post by: Lord Pig-Pen on February 07, 2008, 10:12:04 pm Mr Delboy, knicking pics off The Brethren website, ::) Nice Girl!!The Chequer team rescued Myself and Mr Chop the year before the "Stamped on Bat" image in question was taken. We had hopped off the sauna van after our trip to the square in search of Beer and Bogs at the top end of the highstreet, found the required and went outside to find the traffic had gone... as had the Brethren van! Disregarding all warnings of hitch hiking in France, out went the thumb and by the level crossing by the gare we were sat in the Chequers Granada Dorchester Limo and were whisked back to KN in style, with cold beer on board to boot. Does anyone know any of the chequers as we have not seen them for ages either! Not had an afternoon in Arnage for ages but did have a wild sunday nite up there in 04, my non drinking ??? Ozzie mate fried the back tires of my 300c Saloon, filling the sports bar with smoke and some twat in a shogun fried his clutch by trying to do the same in 4wd ;D I think that Plod have got a bit heavy handed up there now due to such antics and I heard someone in the baying crowd was hurt last year. See ya there this june! ;D Title: Re: Arnage - Friday afternoon. Post by: Martini...LB on February 07, 2008, 11:32:23 pm Jeez... I had sausages for dinner...

Arnage is a great spot though at any time in my opinion. Many happy an hour spent boozing in the bars on the main street watching the rolling roadshow Title: Re: Arnage - Friday afternoon. Ozzie mate fried the back tires of my 300c Saloon, filling the sports bar with smoke and some twat in a shogun fried his clutch by trying to do the same in 4wd ;D Ahhh.. Sunday night 2004, removed the exhaust backwards of the headers.....(In the car park round the corner), and stood it up like a ladder against the wall. Rumbled round the roundabout with the sound of an unsilenced 289 small-block bouncing off the walls. Line loc on and, after explaining to a couple of guys that I didn't need them to sit on the front of the car to 'give me some grip', filled the cafe's with burnout smoke, ran up the road and round the roundabout, only to be stopped by a couple of guys outside the bar further up the road on the left hand side to be asked to repeat the performance because they couldn't see it clearly... ;D ;D ;D May just bring the old Zody back this year, better than the diesel Skoda... [/quoteRemember it well.. ish I think the Zody was in the "search line" as we got pulled in in the silver 300C saloon that year in Poole? I remember the Arnage burnout as driver said "You want smoke" to me and Sean....... and smoke there was.... in massive ammounts... ;D Title: Re: Arnage - Friday afternoon. We had a South African in the car and the immigration people couldn't understand why he had a Visa that allowed 3 months stay and he had arrived in the UK and left on the same day, only to return a week later and leave for SA on the same day.. |
