Title: getting to le mans Post by: mike(liverpool boys) on February 02, 2008, 10:32:47 pm This year is my 3rd year at the great race and the last 2 years we have flown into beauvais airport and got the bus, metro, train and taxi to the track. But this year little brother is comming instead of the french expert (i cant speak a word of french) so im looking to keep travel simple.
Im told that if we fly to charles de gaulle we can get the TGV direct to Le Mans straight from the airport, does anyone have any experience of this??? We would travel down on the sunday with the rest of the Liverpool Boys but our holidays from work and little brothers commitments with his daughter mean we can only travel down on the wednesday and home on the monday. This will be his 1st year at Le Mans aswel so keep an eye open for Mark(liverpool boys) making an appearance on CA in the near future. They said it was ok.
As the new Tram system to the track should be fully operational by the time you get there, from L.M. Square (and Gare) to H.A rondpoint, you should be sorted. PP ;D If in doubt... speak English in a very loud and slow manner, waving arms accordingly ;D Title: Re: getting to le mans Post by: Petra on February 03, 2008, 09:19:24 am Dont "quote" me on this but some of our crew flew in last year to "Gay Paris" and got the train to Le Mans Centre. You will need to book the train in advance as it gets very booked up on the 24 hour weekend Title: Re: getting to le mans Post by: Ade on February 03, 2008, 11:11:50 pm Mike
I've crossed Charles de Gaulle airport 3 times now (2004, 05 & 06) & it was quite easy - just follow the signs for the navettes. Apparently it is even easier now with the introduction of the CDGVAL subway (T1>T3>T2) - 8 minute trip from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. From the CDG website. http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/Adp/en-GB/Passagers/Arrivees/QuitterAeroport/EnCarEtTrain/ (http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/Adp/en-GB/Passagers/Arrivees/QuitterAeroport/EnCarEtTrain/) To leave Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport using the SNCF French Railways station. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In your arrivals terminal, take a look at the times of TGV, Thalys, Mainline and RER B regional express trains shown on the information screens. These screens are located opposite the exits from the baggage claim areas in Terminal 2 (A, B, C, D, E and F). To reach the SNCF French Railways station: Terminal 1 : Take the Aéroports de Paris subway CDGVAL. Stop at "Terminal 2 Gare" and follow the signs for "Paris by train" or stop at "Terminal 3 / Roissypôle" to use RERB to Paris. Terminal 2 : Follow the signs for "Paris by train" (Paris par train) using the moving walkway. Terminal 3 : Take the footpath (about a 250 meter walk) and follow the signs for "Paris by train" (Paris by train). Use RERB to Paris or use the Aéroports de Paris subway CDGVAL and stop at "Terminal 2 Gare". I use raileurope http://www.raileurope.co.uk/ (http://www.raileurope.co.uk/) to buy my tickets. You can only book 3 months in advance. Train times from CDG to LM (from raileurope) d 1027 a 1207 d 1316 a 1450 d 1542 a 1720 d 2034 a 2224 Hope this is of some help. I think 3 is easier than 1. ....and more fun ::) ::) Del What I meant to say was: I think getting to TGV2 from terminal 3 is easier than from terminal 1. Title: Re: getting to le mans Post by: Ade on February 05, 2008, 05:40:51 pm Follow this link for an overall map of CDG airport
http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/Adp/Resources/8cdeef49-8e38-4eeb-bed1-c1ccd1558c05-plancdg.PDF (http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/Adp/Resources/8cdeef49-8e38-4eeb-bed1-c1ccd1558c05-plancdg.PDF) The text in the bottom left reads (translated via google) "A complimentary shuttle service (replaces, in 2007, by CDGVAL) works 24/24 and 7/7 between the terminals, parking lots and stations". So it looks like the navettes have been replaced.
