Do I remember that some of the Dutchies are planning to make the trip to Brands again for A1GP?

*Major kick*

Well Paddy won't be joining us, but therefore I will. ;) No my birtday isn't even near that date, but still, I'll be there. Plan is to take Speedferries of 17.10 on friday (62 euro's return trip!!), and I heard somewhere that Russel doesn't live to far away from Brands, and we could join him in visiting his local pub. They'll never know what hit them.  :P

So far Dirk, Pieter, Riert, Johan and me are surtain.

Thats correct Marius, I am very close to Brands. Look forward to seeing you you guys if you can make it over. My local hostelry is more than capeable of handling anything you can throw at it.
I'll be at the circuit too, not sure what days yet.

If you guys are seriously thinking of dropping over I'll put the word out to Elvis et all, they love a road trip.

Whilst we are not at Brands that weekend some of the Flying Baguettes may be available for a beer on The Saturday night as we are also not far from Brands. If you can fit us in can someone send me details of the time and place and we will try and join you.

Hi Mal, we'll be camping directly next to the circuit, not sure about bars nearby, but will bring 'some' beer over from this side of the water. ;)

At Brands there is The Kentagon which is within the circuit itself, and I assume this will be open. There is also the Thistle Hotel, but this would be a bit pricey for drinks. There are plenty of decent pubs in the area but no others that I know within walking distance. I will see if I rustle up a few people for a beer.

We have chacked with Brands Hatch and the Kentagon is open until 11.30 that night. Unfortunately they were not interested the The Flying Baguettes doing a gig that night otherwise we may have provided some music for you.

Myself and Buz will be down there sometime Friday afternoon in a pair of Vettes.  Keep an ear out for us as we'll be in need of beer as soon as we arrive.

Kentagon on Friday and Saturday is a cert.

We're being put up off site but I'm told the Kentagon is usually pretty good, the beer isn't badly priced and there are usually "specials" of some sort - jugs of Pimms last year IIRC, it's often a pretty good party from the look of some of my marshal buddies the next day!

My Plan at the moment is to come over on Saturday night.  I will bike it to football, leave as promptly as possible, come home and switch into the car to drive to Brands.  I have one spare seat if anyone from the local area fancies coming along (I live in Woodley, nr Reading).....

Looks like there are 4 of The Flying Baguettes coming down for a beer on Saturday night. Assuming we will meet in the Kentagon we will aim to be there about 8.30pm?

If you are going to be elswhere could you let me know - Paddy has my number.

Does anyone know how realistic I am being expecting to be able to get my car to camp?

Doris has my tent, and has kindly agreed to throw it up in the air and peg it down for me, but ideally I'd like to have my car close by in order to keep an eye on it....

Is that unrealistic? or can it be done?  If its going to prove hard, a sportscar sized parking space on site would be most appreciated, but i'm guessing that marking out a pitch the size of a multi storey might be a bit of a mission?

any thoughts gratefully received!

Sneaking in a car without having a camping pass will be hard. We could arrange someone with a camping pass to drive in your car for you, on foot you would be able to sneak in, and save 30 quid you could spend on us in the pub.  ;D

Marius, I have a camping pass,  thats not the problem - the issue is going to be space for the car for me - the car is still new ish to me, and I'm a bit paranoid of leaving it anywhere! Plus it would nice and convenient to be able to get to my stuff in the boot!

If someone could bag me a space that would be great - it wouldnt be the biggest disaster if not however....

Have a good weekend everyone ;D

Big thanks to Russ and Gail for their hospitality... Myself and Lady Pig Pen had a cracking night.
Sorry we missed you all this morning but 4am finishes dont lead to early starts with us!

Mark... everything everyone says about Tropicoma is true ;D

It was cool to see The Gimp too, who must hold the record for getting from the south coast to kent and his antics kept all amused. Lady PP is still staring dreamily into space after the humping she received over the sofa. I hope the turbo wedgie he received has done no lasting damage ;)

I trust everyone felt as rough as me today!!

Thanks for a great night everyone ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Pics to follow but pub is calling now.

A good weekend had by all (still being had by some - Yes I'm a wimp, I could have stayed, but the thought of more tropicoma was enough to make me gag from Saturday....)

A selection of some of the photos I took of some of the track action - first time in a while that I've taken my camera, and actually watched a race without peering through a viewfinder for the entire time - managed to limit my photos just to key moments...which is nice....

A good result in the sprint, was followed by an excellent feature race, which was exciting all the way through...
Thanks to Rick, the Dutch guys, Doris, JPC (for not snoring loud enough to wake me up! - which is kind of ironic really)  and everyone else for your hospitality and help - Look forward to seeing you all in a few weeks time

I've lost track of the number of formulii over the last few years as F1 became boring.

Although I've heard of this series, are they F3000 cars?

I might get interested again as it looks exiting.

Nice to see slicks on a powerfull open wheeler though.

Zytek powered Lola chassis, all the same, with a power boost button which adds about 40bhp but is limited to a certain number of uses per race.  This year they push about 550bhp, next year they'll be closer to 750.  The thing with them is that the engine note that they make around Brands is enough to send shivers down your spine - it's like watching F1 cars flying into paddock hill bend, because of the natural bowl that is Brands Hatch.

Next years cars are being designed and built by ferrari, and I believe the plan is to remove some of the aerodynamic downforce, and replace it with mechanical grop - so I think its going to be F1 type cars (rumoured to be like last years f2007) the way they'd be if F1 wasn't full of stupid regulations, ie full sized slicks, cars which slide around the corners, etc....

All in all, next years A1GP series should be even better - today was pretty exciting though, the noise from the fans was excellent when Kerr emerged from the pits to take the lead....

We were pitched up towards the rear of the site, one row (if you could call it that) away from the treeline, about 100ft in from the main 'track'.  Saw Rick on the Friday evening as we nipped off site to get some provisions, hit the Kentagon on Friday and then Saturday got invited to a neighbours tent for burgers and beer.

The flagpole was out with all the Corvette flags so we should have been easily spotted.
