Title: More Camping Ticket Misery
Post by: Fisherman on January 15, 2008, 08:38:19 pm
I got my request in for 2 x Tertre Rouge on the Sunday of pre-qualifying last year, I've received an allocation today from the ACO of Chapelle, which from what I've seen would be bottom of my list.
Any other Tertre Rouge-ers heard anything yet? Looks like tommorow morning will be spent ringing round the agencies. :(

Best of luck with that, Fisherman :-\

Hope you're sorted now, Fisherman. We got into a similar position, but Andy from Team Langoustine (www.teamlangoustine.com) put us back on the right track  :D :D. I do have to admit, after having a bad experience with MRI a few years back (in desperation) I was sceptical about the majority of agents, but having looked round this year there appear to be more reasonable deals on offer, particularly the 'run by fans for fans' sort, of which TL are one.

Roll on June, just how wet can it possibly get in Houx Annexe this year???

I have heard from the ACO in response to an e-mail, that I should be getting my invoice shortly. I've had no confirmation that I will be getting the camping tickets ordered (Tetre Rouge) so fingers crossed. Placed my order ob#n returning from last years events so by your experience things do not look promising.

It seems that I have problems getting Tetre Rouge every alternate year!

BN to Expo

Ooooh that would be ok - Expo is my 2nd choice!   ;D

I've now placed an order through the tourist office asking for Tertre Rouge with Expo as my 2nd choice. They've aknowledged the order but not whether they have any Tertre Rouge available.
For those who've camped there previously, what is Expo like security wise? One of our reasons for liking Tetre Rouge is the pass out system on the gates, whereas other site seem to be open access. Is the fence between Expo and the road of a decent size?, pass out tickets system on the gates? I've seen comments about locking the cattle sheds, would a big padlock do the job or would we need a chain too? How big are the sheds? Any help on these q's gratefully received.
The tourist office have said my card will be debited in Feb so I suppose I should know by then whether I've got the site I want or if I've got a few nervous months scanning the sell or swap on here.

Well I know the tourist office had at least 1 spare Expo camping yesterday as I reduced my confirmed order from 3 to 2!

I don't know that it is possible to lock the cattle sheds, certainly I can't recall seeing any with doors!  However you can chain things to them.  Last year there was no passout ticket from the site.  The previous year there was but only during the race.

And don't nick my spot, been in the same place for the last 5 years, don't fancy a move!

Chris,

Where on Expo do you base yourself?

We normally camp just to the left of the entrance.  You will be very welcome at the Dragons Den where cold beverages are served at breakfast.
(Just hope we can get it again)

We will be there from the Monday  (9th) about lunchtime till after the race.

Do you actually camp inside the sheds or just around them?

Tuesday late afternoon is usually too late for good spots at any campsite :-\

I walk past your encampment regularly!  Our preferred base is in the cattle sheds from your pitch go up to the main entrance, turn left and 2nd shed along on the furthest side.  However don't get there until Wednesday lunchtime so don't want anyone nicking our spot!

Depends if you're looking for 2 pitches or for space for half of Holland!

Talking of Holland, any more developments on next year's CA t-shirt in the style of the Dutch away kit  or an Anglo-Dutch football shirt?

Just started the design process Rob.  Hopefully we'll come up with 2 or three suggestions, and I'll put it to a vote.

Watch this space   ;) ;)

Well me thinks it wouldn't be appropriate to have anything "Anglo" on a football shirt this summer  ;)

I reckon they all threw the final qualifying match just so they could join CA on the pilgrimage to La Sarthe this year...... ;)

Keep an eye on the 'Just to say Hi' thread from newbies Roons, Stevie G, Lampy and so on   ;D

I don't think it's appropriate to have anything resembling a football shirt at LM full stop.

How many are you?

We'll reserve space.

That's jolly decent of you Leftie. As I said earlier in the thread we're still hoping for TR but if we end up on Expo I'll get back to you. Something cold and liquid is yours!

Back on topic, but quite the reverse.

I've just had a close look at my allocation letter and noticed I have been allocated 9 General Entry tickets (what I asked for) - all at Tarif B.  So that's 45 euros worth of free beer - thank you Mr ACO

Ticket misery here too.

We were in the Termie order too and found out that we got bumped to BSJ.
Still have a possibility for some MB but maybe I should look and buy me 4 or 5 BN just to be sure?

Yeah shame however we still should have a possibility to obtain 4 MB tickets.
A bit cramped I am afraid, but we could always park the cars outside of MB or we might be able to arrange some marshall-passes again.

Anyway I am looking for some BN tickets to make sure that we do have a guaranteed spot if all fells through and so that I can cancel the BSJ with the ACO.
They are not very expensive and I could always park the cars there or sell them -at an enormous premium- to Jos The Toss fans  ;)

Don't worry those misfits will probably end-up going back and forth with a bus just over the weekend, so most of them will never see a campsite.

We will probably end-up ourselves at BN, which would be a reaquaintance because I remember being neighbours to the then Kent Kanterbrau Owners Club on MB in 2005/2006, wasn't that you guys too?

Couple of caravans, a lot of mopeds good fun.

Yep thats us ;D

should be about 14 of us, we've changed to Kronenbourg from kanterbrau but thats all.

If you end up in BN stop by for a beer :)

Hi Martini,
Neil had a superb collection of micro brew in Sebring though he may have had a Yeungling or 2. Icehouse cheap AND real alcohol content.
