Hi all,

New member to this site althogh you can also find me on Pistonhaeds as MGsteveW.

Have been coming to Le Mans for the last 14 years although i did miss a few due to studying etc.

luckily or not i missed:

Euno clinic - maclaren Win - wet race 1995?
Mg's take the lead - wet race 200?

So 2007 was the first year I got absolutely soaked. Normally have been camped in Maison Blanche under the banners of:

Kent Kronenbourg Owners Club (K.K.O.C.)
and
Team Goped - althogh mine was rudely stolen 2006 >:(

This year will be in Bleu Nord for the first time with about 15 people from virgins to veterans.

(Whats happening with Maison Blanche??)

See you there 2008

Steve

(WhiteBaron) - will make sense when you see the car!

WhiteBaron?  Isn't there a Chrysler Le Baron, and there was a tv series in the 60s, with a Jenson CV8, so I have great expectations, but knowing you lot its another bl**dy Mazda.

Anyway good of you to join us after 14 years, and who's this pissed Edd you've been talking to?

Does that work???

Hi mgmark,

As Lorry alluded, too last couple of years have been in Mazda6 support vehicle. The MG  (it's a B Gt 1976 with stage 1 head, fast road cam, twin 1"3/4 su's, peco system and MGC size minilites) has not yet been down due to lack of space for goped or fridge or 2 extra gents.

Sadly i don't think it ever will with me as change of job means company car so will be up for sale :( (too many toys)

Steve,

Nice car - shame about not getting it down there and if you have to sell it.  My A has made it there and back every year since 1993....but then I don't have 2 extra blokes and paraphenalia to get down there

Too many toys????  Now we all know that it is not possible to have tooooo many toys now is it??

Don't sell the B you will regret it.....  You could always take it to Classic LM....

I've had my '72 BGT since 1988, btw.

I'm afraid not, its just the link to the thumbnail

Use the insert image button, below the italic button and you should get this
(http://thumb16.webshots.net/t/24/565/7/89/99/2394789990102816316TyMmAl_th.jpg)
Use the address of the bigger version and it should be good

Anyway since when have you had an MG.  I thought you had a rusty old mini.  And you're swapping an MG for an estate agents delight.  Some people have no taste ;D ;D ;D

I've had the MG for 4 years Lorry, gave the mini to my sis :)

Had a new engine rebuild after destroying a piston, a new rear axle after a Leeds castle roundabout speed test went slightly wrong  :-[and a chrome bumper conversion when a guy in a calibra tried to park in my boot.

Great fun to drive at real world speeds and due to peco system quite amusing on a trip through the Dartford tunnel :)

if my dad had finished that jag and the 1275gt he's got i'd have space to store it undercover but at the moment its a driveway ornament with 10 months T & T.

I'd rather sell it and see someone use it than watch it slowly rust!!.

Chrome bumpers - you devil :o

I can't see the Westfield making it there again, its too uncomfortable for long runs, won't tow a caravan, and mad Friday is a bit too mad and too crowded

won't tow a caravan

I think thats being a little defeatist!!!! ;D

Chrome bumpers only added for the "Bling" factor :P

Unrelated topic,

Have just booked ferries for Le Mans, Monday to Monday

Monday night speedferries are already filling up but i'm ok jack! Convoy of 2 - Me and Mike. Camp Commandant has also decided to take a caravan so is leaving earlier.

Hi Monsewer Spyder,

No he's getting 1 earlier on the monday, due to the slower speed with caravan and how the ferry prices worked out.

We are in Bleu Nord this year so don't really now how it'll work out. I don't recall whats been going on the last couple of years but no doubt the phrase  "supplement" will occur for mon and tuesday nights.

A couple of years ago we went on the sunday although that stopped because the securite started being a pain with MB not having the main gates unlocked.

My ETA on Monday is probably about 5-ish hopefully when the sun "optimistic" isn't quite as hot for putting up tents.

only 5 months til Mad friday

I'm not convinced that going in the middle of the night is worth the £20 saving, but if you're not careful you get fleeced with a caravan

I know i'm booked on the "middle of the night" 10:45 mon am SF.

Its gonna be tough getting up for that, but i can always sleep on the way down.

(that is what cruise control does isn't it?)

And whats this "slower with a caravan" bit

Title: Re: New Member
Post by: WhiteBaron on January 18, 2008, 09:36:39 pm
"slower with a caravan" - that means slower than me ;D

and i'm going to gain

15 mins on check in
40 mins on crossings
30 mins on driving time (france and uk)

+ speedy td 144 bhp power

so will be ok to meet for lunch at Rouen

although not slower than Neil (if he ever goes again)

(i've never actually been to a race with Neil, so all your stories of Brioche Munching stupidity :-\ may all be made up)
