Post by: Fran on November 30, 2007, 10:21:40 pm It doesnt sound quite so exciting in the listing here (even if you disregard the presence of James Blunt!) :-
"Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are joined by F1 prodigy Lewis Hamilton, who chats to the trio and demonstrates his abilities on the test track." I think I will try and tune into the Dutch version!! F Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: Paddy_NL on November 30, 2007, 10:23:11 pm Better ignore the subtitles then! ;D
Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: geoffd on December 03, 2007, 09:51:07 am It should be better this coming Sunday as it'll be all about their Britcar 24hrs at Silverstone exploits!

Post by: Leftie on December 04, 2007, 12:13:22 am blloody ggo d i thought, hamilton seems to be a natural talent with humilty...rare and good. excuse my poor grammer 'The Stig's' quickest lap was in the dry. LH wasn't that far behind on a wet & oily track. Love to see him on the dry track and maybe a head-2-head all out sprint with The Stig. BTW, who is The Stig? Has anyone come up with the answer yet? Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: JDS on December 04, 2007, 09:07:21 am BTW, who is The Stig? Has anyone come up with the answer yet? I was under the impression the 'The' Stig was actually quite a few Stigs ..... ???? Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: Paddy_NL on December 04, 2007, 11:15:39 am I did like the Hamster driving the F1 car-part, think they did a good job showing how difficult it would be for an "ordinary guy" to drive one of these things...
Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: JDS on December 04, 2007, 11:32:40 am Yes, it brought it home just how unlike anything 'we' have ever driven those things really are !!
Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: htbast on December 04, 2007, 03:52:03 pm I was under the impression the 'The' Stig was actually quite a few Stigs ..... ???? According to Clarkson (interviewed on Simon Mayo's Radio 5 Live Program Friday afternoon), "There is absolutely, definitely only one Stig". So probably about 6 of them them! Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: F-Troop Mom on December 04, 2007, 11:07:48 pm ...well, when they came to the US (adventure from Miami to New Orleans), they had "Fat Stig", so unless he flew with them and gained weight on the flight, it's more than one!
Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: Doris on December 05, 2007, 01:54:23 am ...well, when they came to the US (adventure from Miami to New Orleans), they had "Fat Stig", so unless he flew with them and gained weight on the flight... ...And then he lost a considerable amount of weight and changed the colour of his skin for the adventure across Botswana... Dx Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: rcutler on December 09, 2007, 05:18:55 pm I have it from reliable sources that there are three stigs plus the fat guy. I spoke to one of the stigs at Sebring this year and he confirmed the other two.
They have all raced at Le Mans now. Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: Piglet on December 09, 2007, 06:35:09 pm I have it from reliable sources that there are three stigs plus the fat guy. I spoke to one of the stigs at Sebring this year and he confirmed the other two. They have all raced at Le Mans now. I can add another one to the list then as I know at least one that hasn't raced at LM (probably two) ;D There are lots of Stigs, sometimes there are contractual reasons for a driver being the Stig (Renault F1 car some time ago), more often it's just about driver availability. Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: rcutler on December 09, 2007, 06:51:04 pm Well then here is a clue.
Renault F1, Driver linked to Renault F1 Prodrive Aston, Driver raced for Aston Morgan LM Car, Driver for Factory LM Team. The other driver I know of has not been recruited so top gear could show the car. Prodrive would only let the official drivers drive to car hence the stig has to be one of them. I know who it is as I have spoken with him on many an occasion. TONIGHT They are showing the Britcar 24 at Silverstone. Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: Steve Pyro on December 09, 2007, 08:14:29 pm AFAIR, when the DBR1 raced around the Top Gear circuit, it was Darren Turner driving, dressed as Darren Turner.
Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: Fran on December 09, 2007, 10:02:04 pm Good lord - I can understand the Beeb being all mysterious about who the stig is, but why on earth Joe Public would be coy about saying who the driver is if they really know - I must be missing the point entirely....wtf does it matter (she says with the benefit of copious quantities of wine).
::) Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... Post by: Leftie on December 10, 2007, 01:08:28 am I liked the comparison between the family car and the ASCARI.
British built and I want one but must be RHD. Enjoyed the BMW in the 24hrs. Just shows how difficult endurance races are. Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... I'm not sure anyone's being coy! Neil Cunningham Heiki Kovil ....(however you spell it!) for the Renault F1 Ben Collins Darren Turner Perry McCarthy (who allegedly was in for the Britcar 24 hours) There are more names that I've forgotten and I'm sure many more that I don't know of - there really are a number of drivers who get drafted in for the occasion. I've seen them driving the DBR9, but sadly missed this classic run. How did the old one do? ;DTitle: Re: Top Gear this Sunday... You will need to be quick as i read on ten tenths that the Ascari factory is shutting down. Fantastic car, worth clearing out the garage for I think Title: Re: Top Gear this Sunday...
