Title: Calendar delivery
Post by: Bob U on November 22, 2007, 02:02:11 pm
Dear All,

The CA calendar has arrived from the printer and is now being distributed; please be patient, as this will take around 2-3 weeks to get everybody's calendar out in the mail using the most effective means. Once I have mailed out the last of them I will let you know so that,in turn, you can notify us of a non delivery

If you have bought a calendar, thank you for doing so - the venture has made a significant contribution  to the CA Server Fund to keep this site running.   Those involved have worked really hard, in their spare time, to get to the stage of printing and distributing CA's first calendar - we hope that you like it, will enjoy it over the coming year, and help us to improve it for next year.

Given that it was decided to produce a calendar only after Le Mans, people didn't have the benefit of taking pictures there with that in mind, but we think that it is a pretty professional job in the circumstances, and that we got just enough pictures to work from and produce a reasonable balance of content to meet the brief - namely, covering the CA take on the race, the place, the people, CA itself, and associated events such as Sebring.   For next year, we'll look at getting some guidance out early on what sort of pictures, at what sort of resolution levels we need.

So with that in mind, when you receive you calendar, please fell free to leave constructive feedback either on this thread or, if you prefer by PM to any of the Committee members, so that we can guage what we need to do to make improvements for next year.

Looking forward to seeing it. And as a frequent visitor and occasional contributor to this site I would like to say (hopefully on behalf of many others too) thanks to all those that have made the effort to see the project through. Please do not think that your efforts are not appreciated.

Thanks again. Monkey.

Bob,

Great job - good mixture of content and love the evocative front cover ;D.  A lot of work has gone into making it happen, for people to enjoy over the coming year and to raise money for the server fund at the same time - well done indeed to you and the others involved!

Thanks for the calendar Bob, really like it!
If there are any spares, I think some DfH'ers regretted not ordering :-\

If there are any spares, I think some DfH'ers regretted not ordering :-\

There are currently 3  2 1 spare copy.

If there is sufficient interest above this number, a second print run can be organised which would be fulfilled within 7 days - still plenty of time to ship before Xmas.

Wow, what a brilliant calendar - and well worth the cost of 2 bottles of reasonable Tesco wine  ;)

I must say the front cover should be captioned as an 'in car' action shot.

Any comments from Doris?... Spooky... thats Lady PP's Mums name.... and her dad is called Bruce. TRUE!

Sorry, First chance to post, but my 2 arrived end of last week.

I had to wait until the December page before I got to see my pitlane work in print. I was getting a little edgy when I had not seen it by September, and by November I was in a proper mess. But there it is in all it's reflective glory on the December page.

Thanks to all involved. a Great effort.

Cheers

I presume by now that everyone who ordered a calendar has recieved their copy. We were only notified of one non delivery, not bad for The Royal Mail considering that 158 odd were posted.

All things considered and the time scale from conception to delivery I feel it was a succesful first effort and has helped considerably with the server fund.

Thanks to all that entered photos of such a high quality as to make it difficult to choose the final 12 plus the appropriate inserts. If your entry didn't make it to print, better luck next year.

A thanks to Keith for spending time judging all of them and coming up with a worthy winner for June.

Although not on the fund raising commitee, Rick was a great help to us by "volenteering" to host the photos and taking the time to travel over to my place and spend quite a few hours trying out different combinations of pictures.

I would like to say a personal thanks to Del for collecting the monies and making the job of posting a lot easier by supplying me with printed labels and delivery instructions.

I believe that sometime next year Keith will put together a "Motor sport photography tips" section for us. So, next year when you have all taken perfect photos with the calendar in mind we expect to be inundated with entries. The judging will be harder but they will ensure that we have an even better calendar next year.

Bob
