Title: Dilemma - What should I take next year?
Post by: Steve TTTD on September 28, 2007, 03:41:49 pm
For the last two years I've gone to The Race in a boring Diesel Skoka.
Since it'll be the tenth anniversary of my first trip I reckon I should go in something more fun...

The choices are...

1960 V8 Zodiac
289ci Hadrcore, Gassered, Straight tube front axle, 8" Ford rear, stripped out and no compromise... (Got there once without breaking down)

1977 MG Midget
Niceley restored, black, rubber bumper model...
(Back on the road after 9 years)

Or take the Skoda again......

Someone help, really want to take both but that would take weeks driving the first one 1k then going back to pick up the second one ;D

I'd say the Midget out of loyalty but it has to be the Zodiac. No competition really.
We need something to distract the police from the rest of us.

It has to be the Zodiac 8)

As the Hard-cored-ed Midget Driver I know round here (I have been every year since 2003 in mine!) it simply has to be...

The Zody!

But you could do the "small car on an  A-frame behind the big car" thing, like some Windybaygo people do. :)

OK, the descision is made...
Keep your eyes peeled on Tertre Rouge...
And I promise I won't run open headers or use the line loc in Arnage on Sunday night.... Honest Mr Gendamme I won't...  :)

I love it.
I always wanted a red and white 57 Chevy Nomad gasser, but who wouldn't.
Saves you taking a tent, you just sleep under the car. I do hope it's not noisy ;)

The first time I took her down a mate an I were sitting talking to two guys from Brum on the Saturday night of the race, Jon suddenly pipes up with, "Y'know Steve, looking at the exhaust pipes I reckon we could take them off in about 20 minutes".

"I reckon we could do it in about 3 minutes mate, they are only held on with 3 bolts on the header collectors and two bolts at the back." says I.

Three minutes and two 1/2" sockets later the pipes are on the floor and the Zody is on open headers and being run up.

At which point a Welshman pops his head out of his tent and says turn that f***ing thing off it's 4am and I don't want to hear a V8 at this time of the night... Just as the factory Corvettes went past... ;D ;D

Easy.  The MGA has taken me every year since '93 except for 2 years when I wasn't allowed to go.  Otherwise the NIKE principle applies.  Just do it.

Either of them.   But not the effing Skoda diesel please..........for phuq's sake.....take the Midget or the Ford.  It doesn't matter which, just have some pride please....

MG Mark

Being as I drive a '73 GT6, I'd say take the Midget, but, what the hell they are both BRITISH classics.

The Alfa 159 sportwagon is probably the nicest sub £30k car on sale today in my humble opinion ;D
Its not the fastest thing in the world but its very pretty and will depreciate like a piano down a mine shaft- which is fantastic news for peasants like me!
 An excellent Italian car indeed!

And my company has been nice enough to put it on the 'acceptable' list for next year's car... ;D

You could take either my 300C saloon or Estate, depending on the look you require... pimp or Indian family.
Both make your ass twitch on roundabouts and sound good. Should you wish to do tyre frying displays then  old dry perished spares are available on rims for said use.
3.0L V6. He He
I have been relegated to my VW Bus by Mr Zarse..... somone needs to smoke some jap crap!

Wow there Dr S, lowering mine is the only way to keep it in the ground. But then it was built in 1973.

Just put 2.5" higher spirings onto our Volvo 140 in prep for next season. Looks like a gasser but will settle.
