Title: A Timely Reminder Post by: Bob U on September 08, 2007, 12:04:05 pm I don't know if you are aware of this so this is a Public Service Announcement.
Today, and for the next few weeks, we as Le mans fans, are entering a very dangerous period in time. A time of temptations that are full with pitfalls that will bring repercussions for many years to come. This is not a thing that tends to effect the older wiser members of this forum but all you youngsters take notice and learn. A member of our happy band succumbed to temptation 2 years ago and has paid a heavy price for his moment of weakness. We, of course, rallied round and offered support and sympathy to our friend. But, at the same time we gently pointed out the error of his ways and that he alone had the power to resist temptation. Yes, it is all to easy to forget, a balmy late Summer evening on the terrace, a bottle of wine and a romantic dinner with a loved one. One thing leads to another and before you know it you are on a slippery slope that will end in anguish and mental trauma. This will not only effect yourself, your whole family will be involved. Be alert. Let the mistake made by our friend serve a warning to you all. For the next 10/11 years he will have to live with the question. "Daddy, why do I always have to celebrate my birthday a week early?" Yes folks it's 9 months to Le Mans. Unless you relish the thought of spending a certain weekend next June in a maternity hospital delivery room instead of attending the Greatest Motor Race in the world with your mates. SHOW SOME RESTRAINT, LEAVE HER ALONE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Title: Re: A Timely Reminder Post by: termietermite on September 08, 2007, 12:53:49 pm Wonderful! ;D

I think we all know of many folk that wished they had been given this advice in the past. Bob, Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to pass on this advice. Of cousre on the bright side people like myself have to be thankful that my parents were not given this advice. Since June is a great time for a Birthday party and what a way to celibrate. :) t. Title: Re: A Timely Reminder Post by: Lazy B'stard on September 08, 2007, 05:29:50 pm Thanks Bob a timely if somewhat late reminder for me. Twice in the last 3 years have I journeyed south to the promised land leaving a wife with just a few weeks to go- every phonecall sending a shiver down my spine.
I think that a superb new CA calender above the bed would be a perfect contraceptive measure to prevent others from suffering the same trauma. ;D Title: Re: A Timely Reminder Post by: Piglet on September 08, 2007, 05:52:19 pm LOL, I think this warning should form part of the CA calendar ;D
Title: Re: A Timely Reminder Post by: Nordic on September 08, 2007, 06:10:45 pm LOL, I think this warning should form part of the CA calendar ;D Maybe this could act as a covert reminder in the calander? http://memoiresdestands.hautetfort.com/images/durex.jpg Title: Re: A Timely Reminder Post by: Lorry on September 08, 2007, 09:45:15 pm Sound advice, but whats this fathers day you're on about?

However they were both born berore I started the annual trip to Le Sarthe. Perhaps the stress of being a parent forced me to do this silly thing each year. Title: Re: A Timely Reminder Post by: Andy Zarse on September 10, 2007, 03:14:11 pm One thing leads to another and before you know it you are on a slippery slope Good point Bob but if you've been lead to a "slippery slope" then pregnancy shouldn't normally occur, not at least according to the Catholic church... My youngun' was born in May and has been 3 times. My wedding Aniversary is June 3rd and I missed it/Forgot it/Got Drunk/ Couldn't be bothered to queue at the public 'phone! BUT she knew I was OK because the Police never knocked on the door. But since then I have been VERY mindfull of certian necessary tasks that we LMers have to do or face lifelong retribution. Jerry |
