Title: Old t-shirts Post by: Fran on July 14, 2007, 11:32:32 pm I was chatting with a friend last night and the subject of old tour t-shirts cropped up. Got me thinking about how many old concert shirts I have got hanging around:
Metallica '93 Crowded House ' 92 Guns n Roses '92 Nirvana '91 The La's '90 Squeeze - undated but I think around '91 Oldest surviving Le Mans shirt - '96 Anyone else keeping hold of ancient items of clothing or is it just me that cant throw them out?? F Strangely I also have U2 Zoo TV Tour condoms '92 (well past their use by date!) Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: rcutler on July 15, 2007, 12:09:09 am My list:-
CA Shirt 04 CA Shirt 05 CA Shirt 06 CA Shirt 07 and various DfH Shirts Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: Lazy B'stard on July 15, 2007, 12:11:47 am I still have my Cities in the Park T-shirt from the Madchester days 89 or 90, Inspirals, La's, Mondays, 808 state etc. Lm wise I still have a Stefan Johhansson Gulf T shirt from some years back that I blagged off a mate. Oldest item of clothing must be a Lombard Rally scarf that i've had since 1983 and still use in winter (or june as its now known!) Quite a rock chick collection of T's there Fran.
Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: Fran on July 15, 2007, 12:26:42 am Quite a rock chick collection of T's there Fran. LOL - these are the ones that have somehow survived {probably deep wardrobe syndrome} - lots more that have worn out and been lost over the years. I think it might have been shortly after this period that I stopped buying any more - didnt stop me attending the gigs tho! F Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: Leftie on July 15, 2007, 01:45:14 am Just logged onto this thread.
Got a load but mainly LM, I'll check the date and let you know. Still wear all of them regulary as 'night-shirts' in winter. sh*t that every night for the last 12 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jerry Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: LangTall on July 15, 2007, 02:17:45 am I'm still cherishing (hardly wearing, it's pailing a bit now) my '92 Dire Straits t-shirt, as it was the first real concert I've attended, and so also the first tour t-shirt I bought.
And ofcourse 'cause they're one of the best bands in the world. ;) Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: Paddy_NL on July 15, 2007, 02:18:09 am the Cult '87

Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: Stu on July 15, 2007, 01:11:58 pm As I do a bit crewing work at my local arena, I had loads of tour shirts, most of which are for local crew and therefore not available in the shops. As they were just taking up space, I've sold a few on ebay, gave a lot away and the rest have been claimed by my son. My latest one for Rod Stewart from the other week was found to be cut in half with my wife using it for a duster. Cliff Richard shirt anyone?
Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: Dirk3D_NL on July 15, 2007, 03:21:05 pm I still have some Therapy? and Osdorp Posse shirts from the early 90's but they are in use now as cleaning tools :D
Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: Lazy B'stard on July 15, 2007, 03:55:18 pm Cliff Richard shirt anyone? Steve Brown. How dare you suggest that a garment bearing the name of the almighty god of soft pop- THE exalted lord of Cliff-ness is not worthy of a place in your wardrobe! As a fellow christian zealot I take great offence at your attitude and will be reporting your hurtfull actions to the moderators! And on a Sunday too- the day of the good Cliff himself. Shame on you and your household! It was only worn for a couple of minutes before I decided to keep it as new. Funny thing is, it fitted when I bought it so how can something shrink if it has never been washed? ::)
I have a pirate Stones sweat shirt that I bought from a Scouser at Roundhay Park Leeds in 82. It has the Venue and date on it. Very faded now, I wish I had kept it as new. Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: RS2 Babe on July 15, 2007, 06:24:40 pm :-* :-* :-*
Hiya My fave T shirts are mostly The Smiths ones which used to copy the covers from the albums - all sadly resigned to wearing in bed or on a day like today where you pop to the shop to get the paper knowing that you won't bump into the man of your dreams anyway so it won't matter...........but then there is some gorgeous hunk in the q behind you - hate it when that happens! I have various Le Mans Ts and most CA T's but a sorry end came indeed to my CA SMcQ 2006 T this year - which was my favourite :'( On the Sunday after the race everybody came back to the Liverpool Boys camp rather wet so I galantly offered my 2006 T to Ian (Peter who got his moustache shaven off's son). Just temporalily until his dried you understand. Anyhoooo - not soon after the start of the argy bargy with the Ford RS crew started and as Ian was grappled to the ground by the really nasty looking one - he bloomin well tore the neck on it clean off. Damn inconsiderate I think - of the Ford RS guy obviously. Ah well, what can you do - actually - can't seem to find 2007 at the moment - ewwwww! it must still be in the car! Lisa :-* Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: Fran on July 15, 2007, 07:09:16 pm ewwwww! it must still be in the car! I was trying to find my Saleen t-shirt - yesterday I finally thought maybe its still in the car ... and yep... there it was! F Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: redstu on July 15, 2007, 07:47:34 pm I've got a gary glitter scarf from 1974!
Mmm maybe I shouldn't have admitted to that. Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: Lord Pig-Pen on July 15, 2007, 10:14:51 pm My Macc Lads T shirt that got me my name is my oldest and most treasured. Bought when I was 15 and still just about wearable for the right occaision. Stained, full of holes and so threadbare its see thru when held up to light. John the Septic saw me wearing it in 04? and said... "that guy looks like pig pen" and it stuck... and has been upheld since. LM shirts going back to '88 (mum still wears the jag polo I bought on my first visit) but most have "shrunk" in proportion to my physical expansion. The Macc T will make a guest appearance next june!
Motorhead "Australia" bought at their Perth gig is a second fave but that is only 2 years old so dont really qualify fo this thread. Anyone else a Macc Lads fan????? Title: Re: Old t-shirts Post by: Lazy B'stard on July 15, 2007, 11:39:53 pm Pig Pen- went to see the Macc Lads for my mates 18th many moons ago in Leeds. Thought they were quite good but was always a Half Man Half Biscuit fan myself. Very clever, very funny, very much of a time. Trumpton Riots is a great album, must dig it out.
