As we're in the middle of the racing season, what is everyone up to this weekend?
We're off to Brands Hatch for the F3/GT meeting ;D
-
Ah, well. No racing but.....
Our local village fayre is on, beginning with the "Grand parade, starting at 12.00"
However, the sign on the next lampost proclaims...."Road closed on Sunday, until 1.00 PM for Half Marathon"
Marvellous.

I'm leaving for Sweden this weekend, not sure whether there is any racing going on overthere....
-
I'm going to finish porting the new head for the Alfa and get it down to the machine shop for new seats on saturday before raising a glass or too to our French chums on the evening. Sunday will hopefully be a day of rest for once in preparation for our new arrival on Monday- it will be the last chance for a decent nights kip for a few months I fear.
-
Thats done it now Dr S the arrival is bound to be on Sunday ;). By the way congrats in advance ;D
-
No motorsport, but with the missus working all weekend, it will mean time spent with a bit of fettling of the MGA and getting the MGF ready for the Grand Tour in August ;D

Yeah I know- my plans to drag her down to the Great Yorkshire Show on the due date has been scuppered. There are already too many Geordies in the world. The minute I find mankey Pease Bloody Pudding in the fridge I'm off!

No Motorsport, but our new band has it's first gig this Saturday lunchtime in Warsash. So by the time Le Mans comes round and the Friday night DfH party we should be pretty good!
-
Would it be possible to have a webcam there, Mark?
-
Saturday - visiting my son in Lincoln who has a much bigger TV than me. Then out for lunch with the in-laws.
Sunday - sitting in the garden in the rain and moaning a lot 'cos the Observer is a bugger to do when it's wet!

It's the local agricultural show this weekend for us http://www.tendringshow.demon.co.uk/ (http://www.tendringshow.demon.co.uk/)

Im off to the Newby Hall Classic car show near Ripon. Its a great event with lots of cars entered:
There will be not many places this summer with 1500 cars to see of such quality and variety including for example 38 Alvises,106 MG 22 Astons,9 Bristols 40 Stags 47 Daimler Lanchester, 15 XK etc etc plus loads in the concours, a round of the autoglym concours championship and an autojumble so that I can add to the junk in my garage.
-
Pair of Daimler front wings on the list Dave?
-
The Garage door opens... Light slowly dawns over the highly polished paint work.
Carefully pushed onto the driveway, it sits gleaming in the sun.
A quick check of fluids - oil, water, fuel.
Tyres cheked.
Ignition, starts starts first time....
Gently release the clutch and let it pull away smootly.
Ahhh the smell of frshly cut grass !!
;D
-
Sat: Celebrating Bastille Day with some freinds and fireworks here in - more than likly a wet - Buckingham
Sun: Morning of karate, and serious Re-Toxing at a Bastille BBQ in the afternoon.
Oh well that's Monday gone out of the window then..................... ???

Bugger!!! There goes the job as well then!
-
My weekend starts tonight with going to an artsy fartsy thing at the theatre that goes on (and on and on) for THREE HOURS!!!
It includes scenes of disembowling a motor vehicle, staring at an old man staring at us, dancing curtains, a giant mirror, shouting at the orchestra (yes - audience participation :) !) , naked women urinating on stage and a full size live highland cattle bull !
(There have been some Health and Safety issues with the bull and I am rather hoping his contract will have been cancelled by tonight.. I am not sure if row H of the stalls is far enough from the stage!)
I cant help thinking that my weekend can only get better after tonight..... ::)
F
P.S. We have a little Bastille Day celebration tomorrow in the local park too!

JPC will probably sing his lungs out again with the tripple extended version of Mustang Sally at F-Troop ;D
I will be home the whole weekend for the first time in about three months :o
Well, home... Have to work a part of tomorrow :-\
Weather looks like BBQ-time at home on Sundy though 8)

Yes, that too....
Is there a field in France where I may be able to get it cut next year? ;)
Dx
-
Sure, shouldn't be a problem! I believe Piglet knew a hair dresser in that same field ;D

My weekend is planned as follows.
Up at 6 am for a drive down to Banbury. Meeting up with the Hancox family to deliver to them the "Debbie Hancox Memorial Trophy" which i have been constructing for them for the past six months.
Then off to Prodrive about a mile up the road for the Charity Open day.
Then a visit to Grand Prix Models show room in Banbury where i will no doubt part with some cash.
Then its off to Brafield in Northampton for the saturday night stock car meeting. Getting drunk and having a BBQ afterwards and sleeping in the car.
Sunday, working the hang over off and then another days racing at Northampton.
So quite a full weekend for me.
-
I'm leaving the country, fed up with getting wet.
Off to Canada - States - Canada, back in 3 weeks time.
Packed the CA flag and the DFH t-shirts. - That will confuse them over there.
Going to have a go at driving a 29ft motorhome, with twin slide outs.
Now all I have to remember is to not drive with the Slides out in the out postion
and as they say in Italian Job
Michael Cane " Just rememeber, in this country they drive on the wrong side off the road" ;D
Cheers all, have a cold one for each one of you (well I have a go)
-
Neil,
Enjoy your 'vacation' at the yanks say.
Besides winding in the windouts prior to leaving. Just remember to empty the 'holding tank' through that really smelly hose. Suggest wear mask and gloves.
But enjoy the experience.

This is my first free weekend at home since the end of April! So I will mostly be relaxing and doing s*d all.
We are forecast sunshine on Saturday afternoon in Manchester (depending on which website I look at), so might go for a bike ride and Saturday evening going to a Bollywood dance "thingy" in the local park (entrance fee £1 so I am expecting quality entertainment) by which time it will no doubt be lashing down again. ::)

Tonight - leave work at 6, over to Sainsbury's for the weekly shop, call at The Khyber for a takeaway on the way home, call at the Co-Op for a good supply of Stella. Wave goodbye to Mrs Lord Steve for the night. eat curry, drink beer, watch Motors TV.
Bliss!
Saturday - trying to control flatulence to levels acceptable to Mrs Lord Steve.
Sunday - work on the car in the garage.
Happy days

Sometimes I think we are lucky living on an Island (Guernsey) as the water drains off, we have missed the deluge that a lot of you guys are facing, the closest real bad weather is Portsmouth, I think.
Mind you we do get windswept and batterd by waves at times if on a coast road. We don't get much snow either.
Try and stay dry and think happy thoughts, LM08.....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Not to bad in the NW at the moment. Feel for those in the midlands and further south who have suffered yet again. Off to watch the lad play in the first proper pre season friendly then to daughter of lancs se7ens 21st birthday bash.
-
in my thankfully dry garage this weekend Humber fettling (well replacing a blown reversing light and going for a cruise really) in preperation for Monday MOT althoughthe MOT garage just phoned up saying they are underwater and may not be able to do it monday. Yikes that cuts down my failure and repair time somewhat to 1 day rather than 2, so lets hope the golden arrow pases 1st time.
I hate MOT time, always makes me nervous.

Quiet here tonite, so everyone must be doin' what they said they were hoping to do.
Been out for a lovely indian (meal that is).
Sunday I have a choice, Work in garden, get pi**ed at sailing club or wash the old Sixfire and go to Horndean Classic.
If it raining it has to be #2, if really hot it's #3, mediocre then #1. But my judgement is not very good so could be element (short visit) #2 and then #3.
Decisions, decisions, decisions! sh1t happens.
-
everyone must be doin' what they said they were hoping to do.
Not quite.
My Bollywood show got rained off tonight, so have just spent an hour hula hooping to Top of the Pops 2 Disco Special!
Domestics and bills tomorrow. :-\

Just got back (early) from a trip in the caravan. Guess where we went?? Shropshire!!
I have never in my life seen rain like it - constant heavy rain for 18 hours, and we were marooned - most of the roads around us were under several feet of water. Fortunately, only a small part of the site was actually flooded, but the ground was totally waterlogged, and soon became a sea of mud. As we have two big dogs, everything in the 'van was soon covered in mud. On top of that, the beer in the pub was shite!!
Things started to dry out a bit today (sunday), and some of the roads were passable, we decided to pack up and come home. Even then there were parts of the A49 still flooded, and some roads still closed. Probably take most of tomorrow to wash everything down.
