Title: Silverstone Classic Post by: Leftie on June 20, 2007, 09:13:49 pm Anyone planning on going to Silverston on 27-29th July?
If I go I'll be camped at Whitlebury Park(?) Jerry Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: Leftie on July 04, 2007, 04:41:41 pm Anyone planning on going to Silverston on 27-29th July? If I go I'll be camped at Whitlebury Park(?) Jerry If you intend going to the Classic end of the month, the campsite opposite the main gate will be open with full amenities. Trouble is, it only opens for the GP and the Classic. Maybe a word in the ear of the farmer might be in order for CA if no infield available. As it's a bit of a hike from Whittlebury Park. Jerry Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: garyfrogeye on July 04, 2007, 05:44:11 pm I'll be there for the Sunday and I dare say Purdu will be too

Jerry If you mean Lichlake farm campsite it leaves a lot to be desired. I camped there a couple of times for the GP and all that full amenities meant then was that the bogs were full. The last time was the year that His Bernieness moved the GP forward to something daft like April. It had pissed down all week and the owner didn't even bother to cut the grass beforehand so that even when it wasn't raining you still got soaked due to the water in the long grass. If he treats his punters like that for the GP weekend God only knows what it would be like for a lesser meeting Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: garyfrogeye on July 04, 2007, 06:23:46 pm Sorry, just lazyness and bad typing on my part.
Or should that be sorie juss lasinus and bad teiping onmi parrt. Apologies to Bill also. Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: rcutler on July 04, 2007, 10:43:43 pm Is any one going to Silverstone this weekend? F1?
Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: Leftie on July 04, 2007, 11:01:06 pm Is any one going to Silverstone this weekend? F1? Hi Rick, Yes to Classic, Yes to LMS BIG NO TO GP, it's over priced and mostly corporate. Even though my local team MacClaren and the brilliant Hanilton will be there. Just ain't worth it anymore. Particularly when considering Spa at half the cost and you get ferry rides and a whole week! Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: nopanic - neil on July 04, 2007, 11:15:14 pm Is any one going to Silverstone this weekend? F1? Yes - Leaving home at 4.30am on Sunday - one word about that - AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: rcutler on July 04, 2007, 11:38:37 pm I am leaving tomorrow night and camping over for the weekend, i will drop you my number via PM so we can meet up.
As for Spa I will be going to the 24 hours in three weeks but not the GP. Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: JonFATBOYwarner on July 05, 2007, 12:23:20 pm Me to, free tickets but still have to leave home at 0500. Never been before, is it any good?
Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: Perdu on July 05, 2007, 04:18:44 pm Purdah will be there on Sunday the 29th
As will Goryfrogmesser, probably ;D Bloomin' cheek (Thanks for diving in Mr Catchpole!) :) As well as many nice classic cars, my old weary, strained baby Lara will be gently huffing to her self in the Midget and Sprite club area. Pop round for a chat wont you. Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: Cobra Andy on July 05, 2007, 08:42:49 pm The cobra club have made this their national meet this year, we are all camping at Whittlebury, and Silverstone have done us proud re weekend tickets and infield parking each day :)

Very much looking forward to the Group C races and the Saturday evening World Sportscar Masters race. Hopefully the weather will have cheered up by then... ::) Yep, the Weather! Judging by the 'experts' (who can't get it right anyway). We are experiencing a thing called ' El Ninio' at the mo. As opposed the the normal ' El Minio' (or the abouts on spelling). This apparently is a weather system that is 'stuck' in the Pacific and is altering the paterns so that the highs are missing us! sh*t, this thing is 8000 miles away. Or, is this a Micheal Fish thing? Jerry (Those from the UK may not understand the above comment. ;D ;D ;D ;D ::) Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: garyfrogeye on July 09, 2007, 10:30:19 am Are we setting up a meeting at Silverstone? if so when, Where?
As previously mentioned. I'll be there on the Sunday. Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: Leftie on July 09, 2007, 06:11:01 pm Are we setting up a meeting at Silverstone? if so when, Where? Maybe some flowers and a box of chocolates!!!! :D I've PM'd you. Jerry Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: garyfrogeye on July 12, 2007, 12:42:28 pm I've just ordered my ticket (for the Sunday) over the phone direct with Silverstone and I mentioned that I'm a member of a classic car club (with a club stand at the event) and they said it's buy one get one free for tickets.
I don't know if it's an offer open to everyone but I thought you'd like to know. I'll call Silverstone today to clarify.

Might make it Friday night to Whittlebury aswell to get the pitch set-up and a curry on the stove. Any excuse to dig out the tent and drink some cheap wine!
Sounds like I'll have plenty of Cobra's to have a nose round aswell. The weathers looking good for Friday and then iffy (but not bad) for the rest of the weekend. Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: Trackside on July 25, 2007, 10:42:24 pm There are some packed entry lists on the HSCC site.
http://www.hscc.org.uk/Classic%20entries.htm Plenty of Jags, Porsches, Nissans et al in the Group C events. The World Sportscar Masters race on Saturday evening looks like it'll be a cracker too with several GT40s and Lola T70s along with a (the?) Ferrari 712, a couple of Lotus 30s, Alfa T33, Gulf Mirage and quite a few gorgeous Chevron B8s and B16s. Can't wait! ;D Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: Leftie on July 26, 2007, 04:39:29 pm I have my 'free 3 day ticket' as Mrs jjkt15's boss is racing in Race 21 on Sunday. YIPPEE
Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: garyfrogeye on July 26, 2007, 05:06:00 pm I've looked at the driver line up for race 21 and I cant see a "Mrs jjkt15's boss" anywhere. You are obviously fibbing.
I'll be wearing a CA 2006 T shirt (with my name on it) for easy identification. It may well be hidden under a kagool though. By the way will you be gracing us with your presence at Silverstone over the weekend ??? Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: Perdu on July 30, 2007, 12:12:35 am Well, I didnt get to see any of you inside* but I did see the magic Sixfire on the main road after leaving the circuit.
A great day out , with decent weather again. I wonder how they do that... jjkt15, nice to see you again even if we didnt get to chat. Again? Well I did see you at St Saturnin *Any of you except Garyfrogeye, of course. ;) Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: garyfrogeye on July 30, 2007, 12:44:19 am Good day out and it turns out I got sunburned too.

I was wearing my 06 CA T shirt but I didn't see any others there. Saturday night someof us walked!!! to 'The White Horse' in Silverstone village, a truely great ale house. It drissled on the way there. It peed down whilst there, it drissled on the way back. It peed down whilst in our 'clubhouse tent'. It disn't do anything when I (the last) went to bed. Nature called and had to extricate myself in an inebriated state and still half asleep and it drissled until I could stand still (to function that is) and it **king p**ssed down. It would have been the same effect more or less if I stayed in the tent!!!!!!! Maybe at the LMS then and we can discus the benifits of the 'magic water' and patake in a few! I met 'Trackside' at Luffield and had a quick a chat just to say hello. He had the best camping option - at home! Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: Trackside on July 31, 2007, 02:11:46 pm I met 'Trackside' at Luffield and had a quick a chat just to say hello. Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: garyfrogeye on July 31, 2007, 02:27:56 pm The air display on Sunday seemed to be a very singular event. One P51 Mustang though looking and sounding fantastic while doing some great loops, seemed to somehow fall short of my expectations. Sorry to be picky.
Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: Perdu on July 31, 2007, 09:37:34 pm I shall even be pickier!
I didn't see loops only a procession of roll off the tops... But I was talking to people too at the time and even so, it was really beautiful to see and hear. The Rutan was rather impressive too... And top nostalgia marks go to the Leopard Moth, gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. And of course the other quite impressive things were the flamethrowing noisy things, they had to be the Mazdas. But the Jags won my "WOW!" prize for the day on Sunday 8) ;D Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: garyfrogeye on July 31, 2007, 11:19:02 pm Ah yes, I forgot about the Rutan,
But the other planes were hardly "an air display" more a ground display. Title: Re: Silverstone Classic Post by: Leftie on August 01, 2007, 01:53:42 am I shall even be pickier!
