I am snoring Rhino junior - Brad for short, you may have heard of my trip to Le-mans from my father...

By far the best racing weekend I have been to,  a big thanks to the ACO, the Bentley Boys and Audi UK for putting on a wicked show,  not to mention my Dad for sorting out the arrangements and the insurance etc etc........he is still under the illusion that i am going to pay him back  ;D

Thankyou also to Susy,  one of my colleagues who leant me the biggest water pistol i have ever seen, which nearly got me a black eye, and a night in custody with a french policeman......  ::)

So now we look to next year - we learnt that you cannot fit a fridge in an MGF this year - a bad thing given the heat - i think we need to recruit someone with a van for next year......

Also,  if any of you are in a position to influence exchange rates, making the euro worthless would be good - please......

The van is the only way to go man. Don't bother with a fridge though dude, take a freezer and a 3kw genny. Talk to the local boozer as well and get them to lend you gas, cooler and pumps for keg stella. te euro is so crap that there is no point buying small bottles in france anymore, come with the real stuff....and you can get it on sale or return ( what return I hear the screams!!!).
Freezer will keep any dead friends plenty fresh for the return journey rather than having to dig a shallow grave.
you could also get the MGF on the back if you can get hold a big trailer too, best of both worlds.
We are negotiating the purchase of an ice cream van too, what the hell for i have no idea, but it seemed funny at the time. Watch thiis space!!!

We were camped in Bleu Sud this year,  sort of like last year, definately one of the best atmospheres on a camp site I have ever experienced,  barring the Lotus Seven club who seemed to p!s$ off more people than they pleased..... Swimming pool.......tsk

anyway......i have work to do....<im trying to look like I do work out of hours>

This Ice Cream van - ............ which racing colours will it be wearing?

Arnie and his boys are good lads and spend a lot of time on there prep for the weekend including a band.
I suppose it is a bit and give and take a far as the sense of humour and being free from the missus for the weekend is concerned and everyone has a lot of steam to let off (i've been free for a long time now so don't give a damn).
We encountered this as well, defused a few situations, but at the same time tried to be respectful when other less amused beings had really had enough.
There were what I would concider professional moaners around. You know the sort....send a meal back just to get it comp'd. They are everywhere, and would be better of on a Saga deal rather that at Le Mans, a race of extremes in all ways.
Can't please all of the people all of the time.
We had a bundle of fun anyhowz.

Rusty - the shallow grave for the genny to reduce noise won you many friends.   Tickled by the idea of an ice cream van - what it is for is not important, as I am sure the Brethren will find a use for it, whether on a sustainable, environmentally friendly basis or not.   My vote for colours would go for the Gulf colours - I'll post a piccy of the ancient caravan on the Caen ferry on the Sunday night.

The grave worked very well indeed, and as much as we like to make a lot of noise, we still try to respect others in the process.
We have started discussing the ice cream van theme. I like the idea of the gulf colours, but that is quite overdone.
The boys in the chequered Granada (check mates) that rescued Chop, Rex and Wooly from Arnage after they were abandoned shone strong too.
I can guarantee that if the project does get off the ground and properly sorted that it will be very distinctive to say the least. The child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang did come into the conversation at some point and brought much sick amusement.
Maybe we'll have a suggestion box later at some point.
Just think of all the alco-pops, slushies and jellies that we can make though, I'm drooling at the thought already.

Rusty - agree that the Gulf colours tend to be overdone, they are just my favourite!  The Silk Cut colours have been done on the Cortina and now the Volvo and the van would definitely need something distinctive - a few suggestions:

1988 Shell Porsche 962 - Colourful, but not menacing in a child-catcher way.
1995 Ueno McLaren F1 - Not colourful, but very menacing in a child-catcher way and very complementary to the traditional Brethren livery.
Porsche 911 (mid-90's?) - The extremely colourful 911 that was running with a "various bonking couples" livery - sort of subtle in a child-catcher way.
1993 Dodge Viper - the "Rent-a-Car" Vipers - take your pick from dayglo yellow or orange......

I think the flying pig porsche paint scheme might find itself somewhere near the top of the list too, albeit with an added theme.
Nothing like a bit of retro ( it's very fashionable these days I'm told);D

Or, of course, there is the Blaupunkt Porsche 962 scheme (blue/white - very ice cream van) which would also give you the excuse to fit a suitable sound system to rival the Audi sound stage as well.   Onboard generator too.   Or is my lunchtime at work becoming too fantasy-driven as I look through the squadron window and see a flight of flying pigs coming in to land....... :)

That gulf caravan has been down at Lemons for many a year.
Like the Aston with A5TON plates that's seen on the Tuesday night P-Caen crossing.

It's not hearsay, it was there complete with makeshift tombstone.
At one point I think a Ducati was about to be buried next to it. But after some nipple adjustment it was ressurected.

That's not been overused.
Mutual respect for fellow campers works well, but there were a terrible bunch of hooligan bikers in my campsite. I'll have to complain about the noise next year.
It just wasn't loud enough.

When I install the Xmas decorations in the shopping centres along with santas animation, I always ask the designers about doing a 'Santa's Garotto'. You know the sort where you bring your kids down, pay a quid and watch them get garotted. This is because I'm normally hacked of with xmas by mid November.

Do you remember a hertz hi-top van on the route down hooting at you. Spotted the Zarse poster in the window of the Pug. That was me and Trayboy, apologies for the close pass.

Now you mention it I do remember a fairly close call and thinking "steady on old fruit" (or something like that!!!) - where was it? Somewhere on the autoroute or a stretch of dual carriageway I think (I've slept since then and memory starting to fade with age). I was taking things steady as the Pug gets a bit hot when climbing some of those French hills at speed (nature of the beast I've been led to believe).

As for the potential jingle, it goes something like "les vingt-quatre-heures du mans, ho-ho-ho-ho-hi-hon, never been won by Citroen.... (OK last bit might just have been a little alcoholically enhanced over the years - but you'll know it when you hear it. If I get a chance, I'll dig the vid out over the weekend and remind myself whereabouts in the tape it is.

Having a post Le Mans piss-up this weekend with me ol' mucka who couldn't make it to LM this year coz his father died just before. So much Leffe and Kroney to be consumed this weekend methinks. Going to put a tent up in the back garden, light the barbie and build a beer wall!! And play the sounds of LM CD!!!

It was between Neufchatel and Rouen on the Auto on a hill, van was cranked up and flat out as it falls to 65 on the ascent.
Didn't  mean to scare you fella I was just too exited at seeing Zarse's poster in the Pug.

Certainly intend to see the old fella off in fine tradition. Haven't packed anything away yet, turning the back garden into "Maison Blanche" campsite for a day - even thinking of inviting our iffy neighbours over to act as the gypos!
